LIFE & LEISURE
MERRY MAKING: Local designers help busy homeowners prepare for the holidays By VALERIE A. RUSSO For The Patriot Ledger By the time you deck the halls with boughs of holly, you may be too tired to join your holiday guests for the ‘‘fa-la-la-lala’s.’’ But it doesn’t have to be that way - not if you call in the experts. ‘‘A couple in Wellesley, both of them lawyers with busy practices, hired me to Cammett of Flower Designs decorate their entire Pat decorates homes for the holidays, house for their including her own in Norwell. annual Christmas (GREG DERR/The Patriot Ledger) party. They always have a theme; that year it was sugar plum fairies,’’ said interior designer Jayne Pelosi, owner of Renaissance Interior Design in Yarmouthport. ‘‘After it was over, I remember them saying, ‘It was so worth it; we enjoyed our party, for once. Pelosi is one of several local designers who will dress up your home in holiday style. Others include Pat Cammett of Flower Designs and Teresa Burnett of Willow Designs, both in Norwell, and Susan Hanlon-Knies and Lauren Snow of Design Associates, Sandra Murphy of Classic Design and Linda Merrill of Chameleon Interiors, all in Duxbury.

Replace all light bulbs with new, clear bulbs for extra sparkle. 4. Use gold or red chargers under your dishes. Or, place mirrored tiles (available at home improvement stores) down the center of your dinner table; they will reflect candles and other lighting. 5. Bring out the old family silver and crystal, shine it up and fill with greens, nuts or berries. The mix of natural and formal creates a unique display. 6. Purchase small silver frames for family photos to hang on the tree or the wreath on your front door. 7. Fill clear glass vases with ornaments and tie a silk ribbon around the top.
Floral designer Pat Cammett explained the process: ‘‘At least a week before the desired installation date, I meet with the clients in the space to be decorated to get an idea
