Susi’s house secrets My house is a little flat in the city. Usually, it is a place in little noise and it has a smell which I could recognize between thousands. It’s a sunny flat. I love seeing as the sun came in through the windows to announce a sunny day, funny and hot. One of my favorite things at home is when I come back from the job, taking a book and sitting on my sofa, alone, listening slow and low music, having a coffee or a Coke. But, without doubt, my best place at home is kitchen, because I love cooking, as all my family loves. When I have a bad day, I close myself in the kitchen and I cook a cake or a special food. Smelling food when it’s cooking is an relaxing moment to me. My house is plenty of people to taste delicious cakes, especially, when one of us wants to share a special moment. In these days, we usually eat together between laughs and confidences… That’s the cause what I think my house is the best place in the world.

Marioâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s house secrets I'm Mario. In fact, I live in a very beautiful flat. But I have a beautiful wooden hut with a big garden. It's special because everything there were built by my parents and me. And having breakfast outdoors and seeing stars at night is special for me. I'm feel free there. It's the best house in the world.

Juanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s house secrets My house is a big flat in BecerreĂĄ. It's a no noise place and it's placed in a quite street. It's a sunny house. My best place at home is my bedroom. Whe I arrive home from school, I go there and I play th my toyswhile my mother cooks my lunch. After, I do my homework. One friend of mine comes on weekends and we play. It's fantastic to me and I like it a lot.

Jéssica’s house secrets My house is big, it’s a place with a little noise. Place I like best at home is the kitchen. Do you want to know why? Because there my mother cooks all the homemade sweets and food. I see how my mother cooks. After, I do my homework and when I finish, I go to my desktop and I write in my diary things over me and other persons. If I have more free time, I am with my family, because I like them a lot. I did a lot of things at home, and I help my father when he builds, because he is an artist and he builds beautiful things. Nobody faults hem, that’s the cause I love both of them: mummy and daddy.

Lucía’s house secrets My house is a big cottage placed in a small village. My best place at home is the kitchen, because in winter we are hot there, close to the hearth. I like seeing my mother as she cooks. Sometimes I like helping her, specially to do sweets, as the bagels. I like going to the sitting room too. There, I watch tv, play with my computer, listen to music… There, I do my homework too. When I go to bed, I like reading before sleeping. I like seeing what my father builds too. He does things to have my house more beautiful.

Borja’s house secrets My house is a new house which is in a village called Cruzul. It’s big and it has field to play football. It has an orchard where we plant lettuce to eat. It’s the best house in the world, for me, because I enjoy a lot there. WE have lots of fruit-trees which give us lots of fruits.

Para falar da minha casa,perguntei aos meus filhos, como vós fizestes certamente. Eis então o melhor e o pior dela: “ A minha casa mete respeito a quem passa na rua pois tem uma rampa muito inclinada! O melhor quarto é qualquer um, desde que tenha o computador! O pior é a cozinha pois lá tem sempre alguma coisa para nós fazermos. A coisa menos necessária é a mesa da cozinha, pois seria melhor comer sempre na sala. O maiorsusto é quando a mãe aparece na sala a dar ordens! E o melhor momento é quando ela fecha a porta do seu quarto e se vai deitar. A paisagemmais interessante da casa é a que se vê da janela do nosso quarto: dum lado o mar, doutro a montanha e bem a meio a rotunda donde podemos vigiar o carro dos pais regressando a casa e nós escondendo coisas… A coisa sem solução é a relva que nunca para de crescer. Temos saudades de brincar aos fantasmas, atirar almofadas e sapatos uns aos outros eouvir o pai subindo as escadas… Saudades ainda das jantaradas com muita gente onde falávamos,brincávamos e o tio Pedro e o tio Leonel eram capazes de animar 15 a 20 pessoas. O momento de maior paz é pelas festas da Praia: saímos todos juntos, regressámos todos tarde, acordámos todos tarde, almoçámos todos juntos, vamos todos de tarde à praia, jantámos juntos tarde. Assim, cansados e felizes não incomodámos ninguém. ROSA’S HOUSE SECRETS I asked my sons to talk about my house, as you surely have done. Here is the best and the worst about it: “My house impresses whoever passes along the street as it has a very sloping ramp! The best room is any room as long as it has a computer! The worst one is the kitchen because there is always something for us to do. The least needed thing is the kitchen table as I always rather eat in the dining room. The biggest scare is when mum shows up in the room giving orders! And the best moment is when she closes her bedroom door and goes to bed. The most interesting landscape of the house is what we can see from our bedroom window: on one side the sea, on the other the mountain and right in the middle the roundabout where we can watch our parents’ car arriving home and we hiding stuff... What is hopeless is the grass that never stops growing. I miss playing ghosts, tossing pillows and shoes to each other and hear our father going up the stairs... I also miss those dinners with lots of people and we talk, play and Uncle Pedro and Uncle Leonel manage to cheer up 15 to 20 people. The best moments of peace happen by the Festas da Praia (Praia da Vitoria Festivities): we all go out and come back late, we wake up late, we have lunch together, we all go to the beach in the afternoon, we all have dinner late. Thus, tired and happy, we bother no one. The most important party is Christmas: well-set table, delicious food, watching television in the living room, chatting and having friends over…” You tell me, aren’t my naughty kids the best thing about my house?

A minha casa é um lugar onde coabitamos muitos (pessoas, cães e gatos) para mim a minha casa é o melhor e às vezes o pior lugar do mundo; se estou triste a minha casa é o pior lugar do mundo, prefiro a rua , ou um passeio à beira mar, mas quando feliz ( o que é quase sempre ) a minha casa é o melhor lugar do mundo, sobretudo se estiver cheia de gente.. Na minha casa vivem quatro pessoas duas cadelas e dois gatos. Na opinião de quem cá vive: Avó – a minha casa é o meu ninho, é aqui que me sinto verdadeiramente segura. Pai – a minha casa é o meu mundo “de dentro”. É uma expressão interessante, mas um pouco confusa. Filho – adoro a minha casa, sobretudo o meu quarto, ele é verdadeiramente MEU, lá eu faço muita coisa, estudo, brinco e jogo PC (atividade favorita), também gosto muito da cozinha, sobretudo na hora das refeições, comemos todos juntos e é sempre muito animado. A sala também é ótima, especialmente em dias de festa, Natal, aniversários… fica cheia de gente e de bons petiscos. Temos um jardim muito grande e uma linda vista sobre o mar, gosto de estar cá fora, onde brinco com os meus cães. Faltaria ainda (se possível) saber a opinião da Micas da Lolita do Rodolfo e da Hellen (os nossos animais) mas tendo em conta que lhes abrimos a porta e eles preferem ficar dentro de casa, e quando saem apressam-se a regressar, podemos concluir que também para eles a nossa casa é um espaço agradável.

PAULA’S HOUSE SECRETS I prefer the street or a walk by the sea shore, but when I’m happy (which is almost every time) my home is the best place on earth, especially if it's crowded. There are four people, two bitches and two cats. In the opinion of whom lives here: Grandmother – my house is my nest, this is where I truly feel safe. Father – my house is my world “from within”. It’s an interesting expression, but a little confusing. Son – I love my home, especially my room, it’s truly MINE, I do lots of things there, I study, have fun and play computer games (favorite activity), also like the kitchen very much, mainly at mealtimes, we eat all together and we always have a good time. The living room is excellent, especially on parties, Christmas, anniversaries... It gets crowded and full of delicacies.

We have a very large garden and a beautiful view over the sea, I enjoy being outside and play with my dogs. The opinions of Micas, Lolita, Rodolfo and Hellen (our pets) would be highly appreciated (if possible) but since we open the door and they rather stay inside and when they go out they hurry back in, we can see that for them our home is a pleasant place.

FILIPE’S HOUSE SECRETS

My home is located in a street where few people live. It stands in a high spot and you can see the sea from the back and Praia da Vitória from the front. It is small but I like it very much. It has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a garden. When I mow the lawn I realize how large the garden is. I live with my mother and a dog. The bedroom that I like the most is my own because there I can play and have fun. I also like the kitchen where my mum cooks delicious dishes. I also like my garden where I can play with Gaspar (my dog). The biggest scare my mother and I had was on Dia das Amigas (Girlfriends Day), in 2013, when we got home and realized that it had been robbed. I also enjoy going out for a walk, at the end of the day, along with my mum. This is how the days end when I get back home.

Four people live in my home. I like to work in the garage with my father fixing motorcycles. What I like the most in my home is the room where I can watch TV. I like it when people visit us because there is always something to talk about. I have many neighbors and like them very much.

We are 9 people living in my home and Chico (our kitten). My home has 2 kitchens, 1 bathroom, 5 bedrooms, three on the floor below and two in the attic. We have a large vegetable garden, a small garden and several flower pots downwards the balcony. The rooms where I stay longer are the kitchen, at mealtimes, and in my bedroom where I do my drawings, study and make my handicrafts. I enjoy weekends a lot because I tidy up my garden, water the plants and go a little to my computer. My home is large and cozy. It is warm and has a lot of space. My mother lives with me, also my father, my three brothers and my maternal grandmother. My house stands at one end of Vila Nova, surrounded by houses, it is near a grocery store and a bus stop. On the left side of my home there are two pastures with little cows.

We are four at home where there is joy, peace and two wonderful sons, but rules is what they don’t like to follow, but still I’m happy with them. One day they’ll remember that their parents always gave them love and affection.

TIAGO’S HOUSE SECRETS

My home is very pretty because it has a garden with many flowers. My home is located in the São Brás village where I live with my mum, my dad and my brother. We don’t have pets but we have chickens, rabbits, pigs and some calves in our backyard. What I like most is the living room as it has TV to listen to music and watch cartoons, I also like to do my drawings. I like going with my mum to the computer, to Facebook, see photos of my friends. The party that I enjoy the most is my birthday because the whole family comes over for dinner and then I can play with my cousins, but the funniest part is the opening of the presents. And these are all the reasons why I love my home.

CARLOS’S HOUSE SECRETS

My home is in the countryside and it is very big. I like it very much. Four people and a dog live in my home. The places I prefer in the house are my bedroom and the living room because that is where my computer, my games and the TV are. My dog’s name is Rex and I like to play with him. One of the parties that I like the most is Christmas because I have a table full of appetizers and delicious food and my family comes over. I like to help putting things into place, I hate seeing things misplaced. TV is one of my companions, I love to watch bullfights, carnival performances and “cantorias” (improvised sung poetry)

NELSON’S HOUSE SECRETS

The secrets of Nelson’s house. My home is very special! My home is big and I live with my friends. My room is my favorite place in the house. In my home we have one pet: a bitch. Her name is Paquita and she loves bread with butter! I love the food we eat at home. The ladies are the ones who cook. My favorite dish is beans with rice. I loved my birthday at my home: soup and beans, pasta with sausages, coconut cake with chocolate icing and sweet rice. I chose the dishes and loved to blow out the candles. I made a wish, but it’s a secret! I enjoy helping the ladies with their household tasks, mainly washing the floor with a mop. I love playing with my PlayStation. My favorite game is car racing. I’m not afraid of anything in this house. I feel safe. I talk a lot with my friend, Dr. Marcia and with Aninhas. They are good people and make me have dinner even when I whine. I like the ladies of my home: they are all my friends.

In my home there are 3 people, a cat and a couple of turtles. My home has 2 vegetable gardens and an orchard. Where I stay longer is in the living room watching TV and in the vegetable garden with my cousin watering the plants. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s on Christmas that more people gather in my home. The best dishes that my mum cooks are oven baked potato, cod and chicken. She is a cook in a very famous restaurant on the island.

ALEXANDRAâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S HOUSE SECRETS

My home? My home may not be the best place in the world, but it is where I feel good and safe. I live with my mum, my brothers and two bitches. For my mum the room to watch TV and read is essential and, of course, the kitchen (the place where all mums spend most of their time). Is in the kitchen that my mum cook and make very good sweets together with my sister. As for my brother, his bedroom is his favorite room, where there is a TV, a PlayStation 3, a computer and gym equipment. For my sister the bedroom is her favorite room, where she has her clothes, make-up, shoes, TV, computer, tablet, etc. Although I share the bedroom with her I have my own space and being there reading or playing with my bitches in the living room is really where I prefer being. Watching family programs on TV, movies and playing is the best. Not forgetting Vicky and Lassie who cannot speak but I think they prefer the sofa. Finally, I can only say that this is where I feel good.

Os segredos das nossas casas

Eu vivo com o meu marido num apartamento em Elvas, perto da TC, onde trabalho com os meus alunos. Esta é a escola-sede do agrupamento de escolas nº 3 de Elvas. Os meus filhos vivem noutro apartamento em Lisboa, pois trabalham nessa cidade. Nós vamos com frequência visitá-los e eles têm um animal de estimação, um coelhinho que se chama Rocco que é muito mimado por todos.

Geralmente passo a semana em Elvas e vamos aos fins-de-semana a Lisboa e assim divido o meu tempo entre estas duas cidades. Gosto muito das cozinhas das minhas casas, pois é onde cozinho para a família. Não sou grande cozinheira, mas gosto de cozinhar e faço-o com muito carinho para a minha família a e amigos. A época festiva que mais aprecio é, sem dúvida o natal, pois é quando se reúne toda a família e amigos de infância que voltam à terra natal para matar saudades!

The secrets of our homes

I live with my husband in an apartment in Elvas, near TC, where I work with my students. This school is the host school cluster # 3 of Elvas. My kids live in another apartment in Lisbon, because they work in this city. We will frequently visit them and they have a pet, a bunny called Rocco who is very spoiled by everyone.

Usually spend the week in Elvas and let the week-ends to Lisbon and so I divide my time between these two cities. Like much of the kitchens of my homes, this is where I cook for the family. I'm not a great cook, but I like to cook and do it with love for my family to and friends. The festive season I most appreciate is undoubtedly the home as it is when you bring the whole family and childhood friends who return to hometown to relive memories!
