Dear Friend of the Garden, As a fellow lover of flowers and other flora, you probably agree that there is nothing quite so soul satisfying as a garden. If you’ve ever stood in a garden on a summer morning and inhaled deeply, then you’ve probably experienced a garden’s natural “aromatherapy”— that intoxicating blend of floral essences and earthy aromas that can invigorate the spirit and soothe the most harried soul. Lush, colorful and fragrant— a garden is an oasis of enchantment that awakens and enlivens the senses. Thanks to your support, the Atlanta Botanical Garden has cultivated 30 acres of enchantment to delight, educate and inspire more than ____ visitors each year—right here in the heart of our city. A botanical treasure trove that blooms year-round, the Garden is one of Atlanta’s most cherished cultural destinations. Which is why I hope you will consider making a special year-end gift to the Atlanta Botanical Garden today. As a supporter of the Garden, you help us:
❁
maintain a world-class botanical garden in a major urban center in the European tradition.
❁
offer a peaceful, natural oasis with gardens, water features and art for city dwellers and visitors from around the world.
❁
sustain and expand our collection of rare and exotic horticultural treasures; including the largest public display of orchids in the United States.
❁
maintain state-of-the-art facilities such as our Fuqua Orchid Center, which recreates a cloud forest habitat with rare mountaintop plants never before displayed in the Southeast.
❁
provide year-round horticultural attractions — such as tropical orchids that reach their peak beauty between November and April.
❁
introduce youngsters to the wonders of the botanical world through an entertaining, interactive Children’s Garden.

Thank you for your gift to the Atlanta Botanical Garden!
❁ ❁
conduct after-school programs for underserved children.
❁
play a significant role in the identification and conservation of endangered native Southeastern plants.
❁
propagate rare and endangered plants from around the world at the Garden’s Tissue Culture Lab. Without the collections produced from our Tissue Culture Lab and maintained in the Garden’s Conservatory, many of these endangered species would face certain extinction.
❁
host special events and activities, storytelling sessions and environmental camps for children, education programs for gardening enthusiasts, plant sales and demonstrations, a 24-hour Plant Hotline and so much more.
preserve a 10-acre tract of mature hardwood forest just three miles from the center of downtown Atlanta. A 1.25-mile nature trail beginning at the Garden winds through this “green cathedral”— treating hikers to close-up views of century-old trees.
Without your generous support, all of this would simply not be possible. While membership contributions are vital to supporting the Garden’s programs, they provide only 25 percent of our annual budget. The Garden contributes so much to Atlanta’s rich cultural mosaic— from stunning year-round garden displays to our annual Concerts in the Garden program to classes in Tai Chi and orchid care. But we cannot continue to fulfill our mission of conservation, education, display, research and recreation without your additional support. Won’t you please take a moment to return the enclosed envelope with your year-end gift? We deeply appreciate your contribution in any amount— and we look forward to seeing you often at the Garden in the coming year! Sincerely,
Mary Pat Matheson Executive Director P.S. Ninety cents out of every dollar that you donate goes directly to our programs and operations— making the Garden a rewarding philanthropic investment as well as a beautiful place to visit! With your help, Atlanta’s most enchanting garden can continue to bloom!
