Carrying on the Legacy of Doc Aiello The John D. Aiello Endowed Scholarship
“
A new scholarship honors the life and legacy of longtime Loyola teacher and mentor John D. “Jack” Aiello, Ph.D.
W
hen Doc Aiello lost his battle with cancer on August 9, 2010, he left behind legions of grieving Loyola alumni, parents, friends and colleagues. An era had ended—and with it, the 37-year career of a legendary social studies and history teacher who had imparted wisdom, inspired critical thought and often evoked laughter with his comical antics. Doc Aiello did not merely fill minds with facts, but kindled a love of learning and ignited a passion for intellectual inquiry in thousands of Ramblers.
I loved Doc and he changed my life. I regarded him as a mentor and a friend. He changed so many lives. I wanted to honor his legacy and keep his flame burning in the world.

Join us in honoring our departed teacher, mentor and friend by contributing to the John D. Aiello Endowed Scholarship. To fully endow one Aiello scholarship, we need to raise $300,000. Our goal is to have one fully endowed scholarship by the end of 2011. Over the next several years, we will continue to raise funds to endow additional Aiello scholarships for future generations of Ramblers.
