TUITION ASSISTANCE ENDOWMENT INITIATIVE FUNDRAISING GOAL:
$12 MILLION
What is the Tuition Assistance Endowment Initiative? It is one of six initiatives in the Second Century Campaign — an ambitious fundraising effort that will position Loyola Academy as the nation’s leading Jesuit, college-preparatory, faith and education center for the 21st century. The Tuition Assistance Endowment Initiative will generate support for endowed scholarship funds to provide a permanent source of tuition assistance revenue for qualified students from
low- and middle-income
families.
Why has Loyola’s leadership identified tuition assistance as a strategic priority? When the first Jesuit high school opened in 1548, St. Ignatius welcomed students whether they were rich or poor and regarded diversity as representative of the grandeur of God’s creation. Loyola Academy has remained faithful to this tradition by granting millions of dollars in tuition assistance to more than 600 students each year. As we continue to educate young people in the Ignatian tradition, it is one of our highest priorities to continue to welcome and nurture academically qualified students from every part of the city and its suburbs. The Tuition Assistance Endowment Initiative will help us achieve that goal.

BENEFITS OF A TUITION ASSISTANCE ENDOWMENT • Will help ensure that future students whose families cannot afford the cost of tuition at Loyola will be enriched by our spiritual traditions, our call to serve others, our mission to educate the whole person and our rigorous college-preparatory curriculum • Will create a rich, multicultural milieu in which the Ramblers of tomorrow can share different viewpoints and perspectives, develop a deep respect for other cultures and gain a broader understanding of our global society • Will prepare a diverse population of women and men for others to build a better society and a better world • Will generate funding for tuition assistance in perpetuity
Why have we set a fundraising goal of $12 million? We currently award more than $3.7 million in tuition assistance to nearly 25 percent of our student population. The investment income from our current Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund covers approximately $600,000 of this annual obligation. It is our goal to double this amount by generating an additional $600,000 in endowment income. To meet this goal, we must raise $12 million for the Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund, bringing the total fund balance to approximately $24 million.
With your generous support, the Tuition Assistance Endowment Initiative will help ensure that no young person is denied access to a Loyola education for financial reasons. It may be one of the most farreaching investments you will ever make.
