High Holiday Guide 2020 ABOUT THIS RESOURCE We want to provide you with all the information you need to help you decide where to spend the High Holiday season and welcome in 5781. Try out a couple different communities, and see what you like. There are clickable links to calendars, full schedules, and additional information, so click around. HOLIDAY DATES All Jewish holidays begin and end at sunset. Many congregations have services on the evening the holiday starts (erev). Some congregations also add a Selichot service, which can include some study, prayers particular to the High Holidays, and the changing of Torah covers to special covers for the holidays (which are usually white).
