ran and Ron Green’s Verde Classics Museum Collection includes over 75 collector cars and more than 1,000 pieces of Road Art and memorabilia, all of which will be offered at no reserve by Mecum Auction at the couple’s private museum in Boynton Beach, Florida February 22-23, 2013. The Greens’ shared love of everything automotive led the two to create a place where they could display and share with everyone that “extraordinary visual experience,” and thus the Verde Classics Automotive Museum, 121 Commerce Road, Boynton Beach, Fla., was born. “It’s been extraordinary to have the museum and to share this special collection,” Fran said of the experience. “I think the most wonderful thing to me about collecting cars is the people you meet. The collector community is terrific and we have really been blessed to be a part of it,” she added. The couple chose not to charge an admission fee to visitors of the Verde

The couple said the charity, along with the Homes for our Troops Charity, is close to their hearts as Ron himself had served in the Army and they have each had many friends and family serve in the military as well. While the Museum was open for tours, the space featured show quality autos, bicycles, motor scooters and mopeds, as well as a wide variety of Road Art, sports, music and movie memorabilia, all originating from the 1950s through the ‘70s.

Of particular significance to Corvette fans are what Ron Green refers to as his three “Ferrari Red” Corvettes, which all feature Rosso Corso paint and glove-soft Italian leather interiors. Ron has owned the 1963 for over 20 years, commissioning its restoration in 2005. The 1962 went through a complete, body-off nut and bolt restoration, which after eight years was completed in 2007. Finally, the Greens’ 1954 Corvette, a part of the Museum for more than 10 years, was also the subject of a special restoration with extreme attention to detail in all aspects of its construction.

With each carefully selected piece offered at no reserve, the two will now spread their coveted collection among other car enthusiasts, leaving them with a clean slate, perhaps to begin again. “Most things have their time and it’s time that we retire,” Ron explained. “We’ve had a wonderful partnership with Wounded Warriors Project and Homes for Our Troops…We’ll keep cars that are dear to us at our upstate New York farm but no longer maintain the museum with all the responsibility that entails.” Welcome to the Verde Classic Museum Collection offered by Mecum Auctions!

1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited 5.9L, Automatic with 66,000 Miles LOT S9 Such was the success of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited that it remained largely unchanged even after AMC’s purchase by Chrysler in 1987. The well-equipped Wagoneer Limited gave customers more to appreciate with each passing year; by 1990 the wood side trim, air conditioning, aluminum wheels, rearward vision and fit and finish had all been improved. Two-stage base/clear coat paint had been adopted, and finally an overhead console from Chrysler’s popular mini-vans was added that featured much brighter map lights, an outside temperature sensor and compass, and an infrared remote-controlled key-less entry system. In addition to all those features, this 5.9L V-8 automatic 4-wheel drive 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited, which was sold new in Overland Park, Kansas and shows 66,000 believed-original miles, sports power steering and front disc brakes, a luggage rack and a luxury interior with power windows, power seats with fold down armrests, tilt, cruise control, and factory tinted glass.

1993 Cadillac Allante 4.6L, Automatic, Auxiliary Hardtop and Optional Chrome Wheels LOT S10 Cadillac built the last of its Pininfarinadesigned Allante convertibles in 1993 with a number of significant improvements, the most important of which was the change to the new Northstar engine, so named as it represented Cadillac management’s plan to guide the marque back to its former prominence as “The Standard of the World.” A brand new design using double overhead cams and 4 valves per cylinder, the compact Northstar displaced 279 CI and used electronic tuned-port fuel injection to produce 295 HP, which it delivered through the stout new 4T80E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. This drivetrain has proven to be one of the 1993 Allante’s many strengths, which include revised rear suspension and disc brakes and active suspension. It is also one of the most luxurious Cadillac roadsters ever, its leather interior offering power steering and brakes, air conditioning, power seats, windows and locks, an electronic dash, cruise control and CD stereo. A star of the Verde Classics Collection, this Pearl Red 1993 Allante boasts a Black leather interior, an auxiliary hardtop and optional chrome wheels. 7

1989 BMW 635CSi Coupe SOHC Inline-6/215 HP with 48,000 Miles LOT S11 The BMW 635’s roots date back to the high-performance CS coupes of the late Sixties, which combined lithe open-greenhouse styling with powerful inline-6 SOHC engines for blistering performance that earned the marque numerous national and world championships. This impeccably maintained 1989 635 CSi coupe from the Verde Classics Collection is a direct descendent of that great breed, with a fuel-efficient Bosch Motronic fuelinjected SOHC inline-6 factory-rated at 215 HP and 224 lb/ft of torque, here in a custom engine bay with chrome appointments and backed by a 4-speed automatic. Its traditional Alpine White paint with removable graphics is complemented by a Black leather interior with four heated seats, a power sun roof and BMW’s typically wellconceived instruments and controls. Now at 48,000 believed-correct miles, the car rides on large diameter chromed multi-spoke wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle GT radials. Born at the dawn of the most dramatic quarter century of advances in automotive technology, there is still something very special about this great BMW coupe. 8

1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Pace Car Edition LT1, Automatic LOT S12 Chevrolet celebrated the new 4th generation Camaro in 1993 when the car was chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500 for the fourth time in its history. As on past occasions, Chevrolet commemorated the event by offering a special Indy 500 Pace Car Edition, producing 663 for the buying public. The factory Pace Car Edition Z28 utilized special Black-over-White paint with mutli-colored ribbon graphics and special matching interior fabric. An LT1 350/275 HP engine, 4-speed automatic, 4-wheel power disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning, power windows and special White-painted 16inch aluminum wheels are also part of the Pace Car package, all of which are found in this outstanding example from the Verde Classics Collection. With just 13,000 believed-original miles on the odometer, this well-equipped Pace Car Edition also incorporates a 6-way power driver’s seat, power mirrors, tilt steering, cruise control, Delco-Bose AM/FM stereo with CD player and removable glass T-Top roof panels.

1986 Chevrolet El Camino SS 305 CI, Automatic, Equipped with Power Sunroof LOT S13 The fifth generation of Chevrolet’s popular El Camino debuted in 1978 and ran through 1987, and was available in four levels of trim, from the baseline Classic to the top-of-the-line Super Sport. Although the El Camino shared its front end with the Malibu, its doors with the Monte Carlo and its tailgate and rear bumper with the Malibu station wagon, its frame was exclusive to the model for the very first time in its history. The 1986 El Camino SS offered here sports the popular combination of Dark Red Metallic and Grey Metallic paint with Grey SS graphics, Black and Silver Sport wheels and newer white-letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. Showing a believedcorrect 33,000 miles from new, it uses Chevrolet’s 5.0L V-8 mated to a 3-speed automatic, power steering and power brakes. The sharp Burgundy vinyl and Velour interior is equipped with a power sunroof, power windows and seats, stereo and air conditioning.

1965 Factory Five Shelby Cobra Replica 302 CI, 5-Speed, Tubular Frame LOT S14 As company president Dave Smith is proud to point out, Cobra replica producer Factory Five “has won more car show awards, battled for more racing wins, and received more accolades and recognition from the press than any other company in the history of the industry. More importantly, Factory Five owners have become a true community… the largest, most loyal and most helpful customer group anywhere.” Titled as a 1968 Ford, this Factory Five 1965 Cobra 427 replica is the perfect way to share the Cobra experience. Built on a tubular frame, it is powered by a high performance 302 engine equipped with a Holley 4-barrel, headers and side exhaust and backed by a 5-speed manual with a short-throw shifter. Racing bucket seats, Auto Meter White-faced gauges and an Alpine CD stereo provide a friendly environment for two occupants, with Simpson harnesses and twin roll bars for an extra safety edge. Popular accessories include chromed bumpers, luggage rack, headlight screens and quick-fill fuel cap, with chromed billet large-diameter wheels and sticky low-profile radials adding incredible handling. 11

1967 Ford Mustang Convertible A-Code 289/225 HP, Automatic with Factory Air Conditioning LOT S15 This stylish and nicely-optioned 1967 Ford Mustang convertible was Verde Classics Auto Museum proprietor Fran Green’s very first collector car, and what a great way to start into the hobby. In 1993 the car won a First Place Award from the Mustang Club of America; it has also garnered other National and Grand National MCA honors. A genuine A-code version factory-equipped with the 289/225 HP 4-barrel V-8 and CruiseO-Matic automatic transmission, it has undergone a full restoration and remains in splendid condition in Wimbledon White with a Red interior and boot and Black power top. Factory SelectAire air conditioning tops the list of desirable optional equipment, which continues with power steering and power front disc brakes, styled steel wheels shod with modern Goodyear Eagle radials, tinted windshield, center console, AM pushbutton radio and a Deluxe steering wheel.

1963 Pontiac Catalina Convertible 389/289 HP, Automatic, Power Top LOT S16 Pontiac Excitement reached a glorious peak in 1963 in the elegant Catalina, whose combination of styling, powertrain choices and pricing put it head and shoulders above its contemporaries. The new Catalina distinguished itself with curvaceous new sheetmetal and the split grille and stacked headlights that would serve as a trademark for years to come. This 1963 Catalina convertible is a fine example of that vintage finished in Aquamarine with a matching tri-tone Morrokide bench seat interior and Black soft top. In an era when the 421 Super Duty engine ruled the drag strip, even the 389 CI 2-barrel, dual-exhaust V-8 powering this car produced ample power to the tune of 289 horses and 352 lb/ft of torque, far exceeding anything offered by competitors in that range. Optioned with chrome rocker moldings, power steering and brakes, 2-speed automatic, power top, spinner wheel covers and in-dash clock, this well-preserved Cat also features a fully detailed engine bay and trunk.

1981 DeLorean DMC-12 Gullwing PRV Fuel-Injected V-6, Automatic LOT S17 John Z. DeLorean began his career as an engineer at Pontiac Division, rising in stature after creating Pontiac’s “widetrack” design to head both Pontiac and Chevrolet Divisions. Possessed of great ego and ambition, DeLorean went on to create one of the most controversial cars ever: the DeLorean DMC-12. Now known simply as the DeLorean, it was produced in 1981 and ’82 until scandal and bankruptcy paid to its creator’s fortune and reputation. Those details aside, the DeLorean remains a fascinating automobile whose main features are its brushed stainless steel outer body and gullwing doors. This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 from the Verde Classics Museum Collection shows just 12,000 believed-original miles and has been restored by a DeLorean expert in Florida with all the features that made the car so unique. Built on a Lotus Esprit-style backbone chassis, it is powered by the French/ Swedish PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) fuel injected V-6 engine mated to an automatic transmission and is equipped with power steering and brakes, dual exhaust and air conditioning.

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Convertible 390/300 HP, 4-Speed LOT S18 Ford established its leadership in the full-size car market with the XL version of its popular Galaxie 500 series. Initially offered only in 2-door hardtop and convertible form, the XL gave buyers a luxurious interior complete with pleated vinyl bucket seats, brightly decorated door panels and a floor-shift center console. Ford did not stop at this higher trim level, however; the XL meant more horsepower to go with its Thunderbird-grade accommodations. A genuine Z-code, this outstanding 1964 Galaxie 500 XL convertible is powered by Ford’s venerated 390 CI V-8 engine, in this case fitted with an aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor to produce a generous 300 HP – an entertaining package when coupled with this example’s 4-speed manual transmission and power brakes. Galaxie fans will love this car’s showy combination of Vintage Burgundy paint with a White-on-Burgundy interior, White power convertible top and boot and wire wheel covers on whitewall tires.

1962 Dodge Polara 500 Convertible 383 CI, Automatic with Rare Color Combination LOT S19 Dodge entered the new “personal luxury class” sweepstakes in 1962 with the Polara 500. Based on the new compact Dart, the Polara 500 bore the cleanest styling treatment of that body style, the most well-appointed interior and a choice of powerful engines ranging from the baseline 361 CI V-8 all the way up to a hand built 413/420 HP Max Wedge that was intended strictly for the drag strip. Attractively finished with a White and Red interior, White power top and matching tonneau cover, this Vermillion Red Polara 500 convertible is distinguished by the 500-specific Blacked-out front grille, interior-keyed “color sweep” upper body and rear side accents, “Polara 500” badges and wheel covers with spinners in the shape of Dodge’s new triangular, three-pointed emblem. The immaculate engine compartment is home to the optional 383 CI engine equipped with dual exhaust and mated to a push-button Torqueflite automatic transmission with assists from power steering and brakes. Two-tone bucket seats and a locking center console were also exclusive to the Polara 500.

1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible 383 CI Magnum V8, Automatic LOT S20 While the original Dodge Challenger enjoys a well-earned reputation as a legendary Mopar muscle car, there is no doubt that examples such as this handsome and athletic-looking 1971 convertible show a decidedly elegant character more in keeping with the Grand Touring tradition. That doesn’t mean the muscle is missing; under the hood is Chrysler’s 383 CI Magnum V-8, a high-torque big block mated to a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission and teamed with power steering and brakes for performance befitting this muscle-era convertible. Excellent Tan Metallic paint is complemented with a matching Tan interior featuring leather bucket seats, center console with Slap-Stick shifter, woodgrain steering wheel, fuel, temperature and alternator gauges, AM/FM radio and air conditioning. A Black power soft top, Rallye road wheels with whitewall tires and a chrome luggage rack complete this impeccably-maintained and rare Challenger big block convertible.

1957 Ford Thunderbird Convertible 312/215 HP, Two Tops LOT S21 By 1957 the Ford Thunderbird was in the last year of its original two-seat body style and was already one of the most popular Ford models in the company’s long history. Contemporary advertising touted the car as “a pick me up that never lets you down”, and collectors will certainly experience a lift when they see this stunning example replete in Thunderbird Bronze Iridescent with a new matching Bronze interior, Tan soft top and White hard top with embroidered headliner. This is a highly optioned example of the last of the so-called Baby Birds, powered by the now standard-equipment 312 CI Thunderbird Special engine, rated at 215 HP with a single Holley 4-barrel carburetor and here presented with the Thunderbird engine dress kit. In addition to power steering and a FordO-Matic transmission, this fine ’57 is equipped with fender skirts, elegant chrome wire wheels with wide whitewall tires, power windows and seat, padded dashboard and a push-button radio.

1954 MG TF Roadster Twin Carburetors, 4-Speed LOT S22 MG began making its T-series sports cars in 1936 shortly after the company withdrew from racing on orders from its new proprietor, Morris Motors. The first-generation TA introduced hydraulic brakes, more pliant suspension tuning and a reliable and zesty pushrod 4-cylinder and 4-speed gearbox borrowed from the Morris 10. The TF brought with it more integrated styling with faired-in headlights on sweeping bodywork, optional wire wheels and a 1.5L inline-4 rated at 63 HP. Like its predecessors, the TF offered responsive road manners and superior handling. Powered by the twin-carb 1,500 CC inline-4 mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox, this 1954 MG TF roadster from the Verde Classics Car Museum is one of the most prized MGs of all time. It features British Racing Green paint with a lovely Tan interior and matching top, all nicely accented with chromed wire wheels and wide whitewall tires. The interior is classic MG: octagonal Jaeger instruments, folding windshield, a woodgrain steering wheel, bucket seats and front-opening “suicide doors.

1960 Buick Invicta Convertible 401/325 HP, Automatic LOT S23 According to contemporary sales materials, Buick chose the name Invicta to characterize its 1959 Century replacement as “unconquerable, invincible, unbeatable.” By the time the 1960 Buick Invicta hit the road, the model was known simply as “the banker’s hot rod,” due in no small part to the 401/325 HP “Nailhead” V-8 engine under its massive hood. And while the 1959 version was smoothsided, the 1960 Invicta bore more interesting side sculpturing and cleaner end treatments that presaged later successful designs. This eye-catching 1960 Invicta convertible possesses those charms and more, with power steering and brakes, cruise control and Buick’s smooth Twin Turbine automatic transmission completing the mechanicals. The Invicta’s Red paint is brilliantly accented with wide whitewalls on chromed wheels and the choice of either White soft top or a matching boot; pleated Red and White upholstery and a padded dash with Sonomatic radio and Marcel quartz clock finish the stylish accommodations.

1970 Aston Martin DBS Coupe

1970 Aston Martin DBS Coupe 5.3L/375 HP DOHC V-8, Automatic LOT S24 Introduced as a replacement for the highly successful DB6, the Aston Martin DBS was designed to accept the Tadek Marek-designed V-8 engine that had powered the company’s Le Mans racer in 1967. The 5.3L/375 HP DOHC V-8 was delayed until September 27, 1969, when AML announced its readiness for production. Larger than its predecessor and known as the DBSV8, the new car was a 4-seat grand touring machine capable of 160 MPH, making it the fastest 4-seater production car in the world at the time. Although larger and more angularly shaped than past models, the DBS benefitted from wind tunnel development and retained the hood scoop, uniquely sculpted grille and side vents with stainless trim that characterized earlier models, although the purr that emanated from the inline-6 was now replaced by the throaty rumble of the double overhead cam V-8. The Kent Green metallic paint of this 1970 DBS coupe attracted the attention of Fran Green, who promptly purchased the car for the Verde Classics Collection. Equipped with air conditioning, power steering and power disc brakes, dual exhaust and a Torqueflite automatic, this British classic also offers a spacious interior that combines purposeful instruments and driver controls with luxurious Connoly leather seats and upholstery. 1959 Pontiac Catalina Convertible 389 CI Tri-Power, Automatic LOT S25 Enough time has passed and sufficient changes made to the everyday automobile that to today’s eye this glorious 1959 Pontiac Catalina convertible seems almost impossibly large and imposing – just the way Pontiac lovers like their late-Fifties rides. Comparatively speaking, the Catalina had much more to offer than most of its GM divisional rivals, especially under the hood where a 389 CI V-8 was the biggest engine in its class, in this case with an optional Tri Power carburetion setup for even more power. This factoryborn Cardinal Red convertible goes the extra distance in distinguishing itself from the competition with a custom interior incorporating festive Red paint and upholstery with White and Silver accents, salt-and-pepper carpeting and oodles of new chrome. There is extra flash outside as well, highlighted by a bright Red convertible top, glittering chromed wire wheels and whitewall tires, dual outside chrome mirrors and the big Cat’s distinctive chrome side trim. Optional equipment includes an automatic transmission and power steering and brakes.

1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner

1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner 312/245 HP, Power Convertible Top LOT S26 Ford led the way in industry sales in 1957 with cars like this immaculate Fairlane 500 Sunliner convertible. Longer and wider than before thanks in large part to a new frame that also allowed for increased passenger room, the 1957 Sunliner was powered by the venerable Y-block V-8 engine, newly increased to 312 CI. Fitted with a 4-barrel carburetor, the new “Thunderbird Special was rated at a healthy 245 HP, in this case driving a column-shifted automatic transmission and complemented with factory power steering. Two-tone paint schemes were all the rage with the motoring public; this Sunliner combines Colonial White with Gold body side accents, a Black and White interior and Black soft top and boot. Wide whitewall tires on sparkling chromed spinner wire wheels add a splash of showy elegance furthered by chromed dual exhaust tips, front bumper guards and side-sill stone guards.

1969 Chevrolet Impala Convertible 427/335 HP, Factory Air Conditioning LOT S27 1969 was a banner year for the stylists working at Chevrolet. One of their most notable achievements was redesigning the Impala and other full-size models with muscular side sculpting and a longer overall look that began and ended with large chromed bumpers with integrated lights front and rear. This Canadian-built matching numbers 1969 Impala convertible has big block punch to go with its big-car flash. Restored by its previous owner in Florida, it features the largest-displacement engine in the 1969 model lineup, the 427 CI V-8, here in 335 HP tune with a Rochester 4-barrel and dual exhaust and augmented with power steering and brakes. Showing just 54,803 miles on the odometer, it is finished in Garnet Red and sports a Black power soft top and a roomy Black bench seat interior with power locks and windows, tinted windshield, in-dash clock and factory air conditioning. Rally wheels and whitewall tires were the only way to go on this muscular big Impala.

1967 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible

1967 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible 400/350 HP, 4-Speed LOT S28 Oldsmobile began advertising the high-performance 442 as “The Swashbuckler,” and the “anti-boredom machine,” both appropriate monikers for a car described by Car and Driver magazine as the “best-handling car of its type we’ve ever tested.” Adding a convertible top to the 442’s heady mix of acceleration, handling and style made for a very attractive machine to its young target audience. Stylishly finished in Midnight Blue with contrasting White stripes and Parchment interior, top and boot, this 1967 Oldsmobile 442 convertible is the product of a 5-year restoration by a father and son team who are obviously dedicated 442 fanatics. The 442 recipe is straightforward: a 400/350 HP “Ultra High Compression” V-8 with a high-flow Rochester 4-barrel carburetor, a Hurst-shifted 4-speed and dual exhaust. Adding to the mix are MSD ignition, power steering and brakes, plenty of underhood chrome pieces and such extras as an in-dash tach, power antenna, chrome door handle nail guards and wire wheel covers.

1970 Pontiac GTO Convertible 455 HO, Automatic LOT S29 The Pontiac GTO reached its performance zenith, as did most General Motors muscle cars, in 1970 when GM dropped its long-standing sanction against mid-size car engines larger than 400 cubic inches. That particular genie having been let out of the bottle, Pontiac Motor Division responded by stuffing the GTO with a new 455 CI engine rated at 360 HP at 4,300 RPM and a whopping 500 lb/ft of torque that was all in at just 2,700 RPM. Dubbed the 455 HO, it propelled the already potent GTO to 60 MPH in 6.6 seconds and scored mid14-second quarter mile times while maintaining its luxury side with bold new styling and one of the nicest interiors ever seen in a muscle car. Those features and more grace this freshly restored Cardinal Red-on-Black 1970 GTO convertible, which also offers a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, power steering and brakes, power top and windows, a Hurst shifter, hood tach, rear spoiler and Rally II wheels.

1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible

1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible 409/340 HP, Automatic LOT S30 The popular Chevrolet Impala SS was promoted from an optional trim package to a separate model at the top of the full-size line in 1964, its masculine new styling serving as the foundation for an expansive list of options that enabled buyers to create an almost endless variety of personalized machines. This 1964 Impala SS convertible from the Verde Collection illustrates the extent to which the model could be tailored. It is correctly finished in Ember Red with a White power-operated soft top, Red interior and Red tonneau cover. Chevy’s famous 409 CI engine in 340 HP trim with dual exhaust powers the car through a 2-speed automatic, with power steering and brakes complementing its performance. The full range of SS and optional equipment includes bucket seats and console, dash-mounted tach, AM/FM radio with dual antennas, power windows, cruise control, tissue dispenser and dual outside mirrors.

1962 Pontiac Grand Prix Hardtop 389 CI, Automatic LOT S31 Pontiac introduced the Grand Prix in 1962 as a single hardtop model with tastefully restrained exterior styling and a sporty bucket seat interior, both of which foretold the GTO that was just over the horizon. Also foreshadowing that seminal muscle car was the Grand Prix’s choice of engines that ranged from the 389 CI to the vaunted 421CI Super Duty V-8. Completely restored in attractive Starlight Black and sporting show quality chrome and bright trim, this Grand Prix combines the 389 CI 4-barrel V-8 with Pontiac’s Roto Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and “Wonder-Touch” power steering and brakes. The car’s Saddle interior is immaculate and well-appointed with pleated Morrokide vinyl bucket seats, locking center console with shifter and 7,000 RPM tach, padded dash, Wonderbar radio, courtesy lamps, indash clock and Circ-L-Aire controls. Dual exhaust was standard on the Grand Prix, while this example’s 8-lug heavy duty aluminum wheels were optional equipment and valuable extras today.

1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner

1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Red/Red, Continental Kit LOT S32 The completely restyled 1961 Ford Galaxie was such a successful design that it was given a prestigious award presented by the international fashion authority, Centro per L’Alta Moda Italiana, for “functional expression of classic beauty”. Sporting an all-new look with a striking bulleted grille and rear panel design, the new Galaxie escheaswed the flash of the Fifties in favor of minimal ornamentation and carefully executed details such as the distinctive “afterburner” tail lights, but that did not preclude dressing the car up for the ball, as in the case of this stunning Redon-Red Sunliner convertible festooned with wide whitewalls on chromed wire wheels, dual outside mirrors, stainless steel fender skirts and sill moldings and a truly dazzling Continental kit. The interior is an impressive piece of work all its own, with a well-organized dash and instruments and clean, tasteful pleated seats and door panels. Power steering and brakes and chrome-tipped duals complete this showboat Sunliner.

All were built using authentic BMW components, including a superb fiberglass reproduction body hand-crafted from BMW molds. Very few made it to American shores, but all offered their owners the elegance and grace of the original with the practicality, power and performance of mid-Seventies BMW technology, in this case a peppy Weber 2-barrel carbureted 1,342 CC inline-4 engine with dual exhaust, a manual gearbox, all-BMW suspension and disc brakes. The car’s old-world personality shines through in its classically curvaceous contours, rear-mounted spare tire, running boards with chromed step plates and fold-down split windscreen. Complete with cut-down front-opening doors, the 328’s open cockpit features Black wraparound upholstery, a woodgrain steering wheel, White-faced instruments and a hidden CD player for your open-road listening enjoyment. This is a fun-to-drive replica of the original 328, without the $550,000 price tag seen in 2012. 40

1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible

1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible 389/360 HP Tri-Power, Automatic LOT S34 After the 1964 Pontiac GTO rocketed past predicted sales of 5,000 to a phenomenal year-end total of over 32,000 cars, Pontiac embraced the GTO concept wholeheartedly, producing all-new front and rear styling that included the stacked quad headlights found in the Division’s fullsize lineup. They also coaxed more power out of the 389 CI engine in both 4-barrel and Tri Power tune, the latter reaching a healthy 360 horsepower. This 1965 GTO convertible underwent a 3 year restoration from 2006-2009 and pairs beautiful Montero Red paint with optional Rally wheels and Redline tires, a Black power convertible top and boot and the GTO’s trademark bucket seat interior with center console, woodgrain dash trim and a woodgrain steering wheel. The well-detailed engine compartment houses Pontiac’s 389/360 HP Tri Power engine that featured three 2-barrel Rochester carburetors atop a special intake manifold and dual chromed twin-outlet exhaust. Optional extras include a floorshifted Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission, power steering, in-dash tach and AM/FM radio. Verde Classics Museum Collection

1960 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible

1960 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible Golden Commando 395 Engine, Automatic LOT S37 Plymouth’s 1960 Sport Fury was the first to be built using unibody construction techniques and the last to feature tall “stabilizer” tail fins. While other makers were abandoning this feature, the Sport Fury doubled down with even larger protuberances than before, and there was certainly more refinement under the skin. Plymouth enhanced the Sport Fury’s already considerable reputation as a performer by adding a new engine to its lineup, the Golden Commando 395. Combined with Chrysler’s push-button Torqueflite automatic, improved torsion bar suspension and power steering and brakes, the Sport Fury was the equal of its rivals in handling and smoothness. This majestic 1960 Sport Fury convertible shines in Mist Green with full bright trim embellished with chromed wires and wide Whitewalls and a White power top. Exner’s iconoclastic styling was still evident in the fashionable interior in such details as the rectangular “Aero” steering wheel, swivel seats and pod-style instrument panel joining Pastel Green trim and variegated cloth seat inserts.

1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327/360 HP, Fuel Injection, 4-Speed LOT S38 Call it a subtle form of Resto Modding: the 8-year restoration of this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette convertible included not only a complete nut-and-bolt rebuild but two very important departures from showroom stock: the original Roman Red paint was eschewed in favor of mouth-watering Rosso Corso Red from the Ferrari color catalogue, and the original upholstery was replaced with body-matching Red upholstery in glove-soft Italian leather. It’s the perfect combination for the first Corvette offered in only single colors due to the removal of one of its signature features for 1962, the stainless steel body side cove trim. In addition to beautiful chrome inside and out, this last of the solid-axle Corvettes also sports rare power windows and wide whitewall tires. This was also the last year for exposed headlights, power soft tops and electrical generators, but not for the famed “Fuelie” small block engine, which was now punched out to 327 cubic inches and generating a full 360 horsepower and 352 lb/ft of torque. If a superbly restored all-Red solid axle Fuelie 4-speed convertible is your dream machine, this is the Corvette for you. 50

1958 1958 Chevrolet Chevrolet Impala Impala Convertible Convertible

1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible 348 CI Tri-Power, Automatic LOT S39 At first glance this 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible looks like a perfectly stock, well-equipped as-original example, and in fact it is, with one extremely subtle exception: its luminous Black Cherry paint, the single custom touch in an otherwise factory-faithful frame-off restoration. It’s a great choice for the Impala, providing the perfect base for its generous chrome and brightwork, to say nothing of the correct Red vinyl interior with its multi-toned seat inserts and brushed aluminum trim; even the steering wheel and lower dash are painted in Black Cherry to further unify the color scheme, which is finished with a Black power soft top and tonneau cover. Fans of the first-year Impala will also like the extra flash provided by fullsize spinner hubcaps, chrome sill trim, faux rear quarter exhaust vents, door handle nail guards and twin antennas. A 348 CI Tri Power equipped V-8 with dual exhaust supplies power to a Powerglide 2-speed automatic for spirited performance aided by optional power steering.

1962 Chevrolet Impala Convertible 327/250 HP, Automatic LOT S40 The Chevrolet Impala continued its evolution to the more refined styling and increased level of luxury that characterize the handsome 1962 convertible presented here. Correctly refinished as original in Roman Red, it sports a White power-operated soft top, matching tonneau cover and the Impala’s upscale interior in Red vinyl with matching textured inserts and button-tuft detailing on the upper seatbacks and door trim panels; a push-button radio, tissue dispenser, power steering and power brakes were overwhelmingly popular options on the top-line Chevy. The new 327 CI small block joined the 283 on the engine roster, offering 250 HP in baseline form and in this case mated to a column-shifted Powerglide 2-speed automatic. Complementing the Impala’s extra brushed stainless trim and chrome accents are optional wire-wheel hubcaps, whitewall tires and dual exhaust.

The last in a series of brilliant designs by Virgil Exner to employ the trademark fins, the 1961 Chrysler 300G featured a new front end treatment, with new canted quad headlights and a straight front bumper for a cleaner look. The 300 was always a luxury car with muscle, and the G continued that tradition with a long list of standard features that included an impressive 413/375 HP V-8 with a unique cross-ram intake system mounting two four-barrel carburetors. Finished in Mardi Gras Red, this 300G sports a luxurious Tan leather 2+2 interior with a full-length console, pushbutton transmission controls and the classic Astra-Dome instrument cluster. 1974 Jaguar XKE Roadster

1974 Jaguar XKE Roadster 5.3L/245 HP V-12, Full Restoration Completed in 2005 LOT S42 After a fourteen year run that began in 1961, the Jaguar XKE bowed in 1974 with the Series III V-12 coupe and convertible. While some Jaguar adherents preferred earlier versions, there was no denying the lovely turbine-like quality of the Series III’s 5.3L/245 HP V-12 engine, which Road & Track magazine described as “a sheer delight, by itself almost worth the price of admission.” Able to deliver the XKE to 135 MPH and beyond, this silky smooth powerplant surrounds occupants with subtle mechanical whirrings and a sonorous exhaust note that lingers in the memory long after leaving the confines of its leather bucket seats. A full nut-andbolt restoration was completed on this sleek 1974 XKE roadster in 2005, finishing the car in Signal Red and a Biscuit interior featuring all new Connolly leather. At a believed-correct 18,000 miles, it is perfectly equipped for grand touring with all-independent suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, chromed Dunlop wire wheels with knock-offs, a 3-speed automatic and air conditioning.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible 283/220 HP, Automatic, Continental Kit LOT S43 Purchased from a farmer in New York and showing just 200 miles since its restoration, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible demonstrates the heights of luxury and performance attainable in that final glorious year of the Tri-Five model era. Decorated with a 1992 AACA First Prize badge in the grille, this Bel Air convertible is host to a 283/220 HP Power pack small block V-8 with Carter 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, in this case mated to a Powerglide automatic. It is correctly finished in India Ivory with a glamorous Silver-and-Red interior, Black poweroperated soft top and a Red boot for top-down motoring. There is added flash in the optional Gold accent package, but the show doesn’t stop there; this American classic is loaded with desirable period accessories. The interior is fitted with a push-button AM radio, an in-dash clock and controls for the dual articulated spotlight mirrors, while the exterior is fully dressed with dual antennas, door handle nail guards, dual exhaust, spinner wheel covers over wide whitewall tires and a Continental kit.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 327/340 HP, 4-Speed LOT S44 This fine-looking 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray convertible has been in Ron Green’s personal collection for over 20 years and remains a personal favorite. Like its Corvette stable mates in the Verde Classics Collection, this first-year Sting Ray was restored in 2005 to better than showroom condition with the addition of special paint and interior finishing. In place of the factory finish, the car is now cloaked in brilliant Ferrari Rosso Corso Red and the cowl vents and imitation hood vent grilles are finished in chrome, all to great effect. The interior has an Italian flavor as well in the glove-soft Tan leather upholstery done in the correct pleated pattern, with a choice of either a matching Tan soft top or an auxiliary hard top. The underhood area is all classic Corvette in the form of a free-revving 327 CI 4-barrel small block cranking 340 HP through a Hurst-shifted 4-speed, and there is no better way to complete the look than a set of finned aluminum three-bar knock-off wheels.

1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible

1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Convertible 409/425 HP, 4-Speed LOT S45 The early 1960s were banner years for the Chevrolet Impala SS, which returned in 1963 with subtle refinements to styling and carried over one of its best optional features: the mighty 409 CI big block V-8 engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. With a single 4-barrel carburetor the 409 was rated at a healthy 340 HP or 400 HP, while the dual quad version powering this pristine Impala convertible served up a monumental 425 HP. Dressed in chrome valve covers and a chromed dual-snorkel air cleaner replete with “409” badging, it’s a fitting showpiece as well that perfectly suits this colorful SS, one of 153,271 built in that record-setting year. Finished in Riverside Red, the car features a matching Red interior with all the SS trimmings: Strato bucket seats with console, anodized aluminum dash trim and an in-dash tachometer. Optional equipment includes power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, push-button AM radio with dual antennas, chromed door handle nail guards, dual outside mirrors and full spinner wheel covers with whitewall tires.

1957 Buick Caballero Station Wagon

1957 Buick Caballero Station Wagon 364/300 HP, Automatic LOT S46 In the 1950s Detroit stylists were busy exploring the boundaries of their imaginations. The result of these forays to the outer limits produced the hardtop body structure and the all-steel station wagon. The steel wagon meant much less maintenance and more resistance to structural degradation, while the hardtop was the answer to the buyer looking for convertible-style airiness with the safety of a sedan. Inevitably, engineers and stylists wedded the two in the 1957 Buick Caballero station wagon, a short-lived model that today enjoys great collector appeal. Finished in Red over White with a matching twotone interior, this 1957 Caballero wagon uses the Century’s higherrated 364/300 HP V-8 coupled to an automatic transmission and is fully equipped with power steering and brakes, power front seat and windows, in-dash clock, Sono-Matic radio and air conditioning, and completed with chromed wire wheels, wide whitewall tires, dual exhaust and a special picnic basket and blanket for those summer afternoons at the park or beach.

1954 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster 235/150 HP Blue Flame Six Engine, Automatic LOT S47 Purchased from a former President of the Corvette Club of America, this 1954 Chevrolet Corvette roadster has been a part of the Verde Classics Car Museum for over ten years. Mr. Green commissioned a special restoration of this car, surpassing the quality of the original by finishing the car in Ferrari Rosso Corso Red and completing it with a Red interior using glove-soft Red Italian leather (hand-stitched to match the factory-original patterns) and a Beige soft top. Beyond its striking finish, the car hews closely to factory correct in virtually every other respect. It is powered by Chevrolet’s 235/150 HP Blue Flame Six engine with three Carter side-draft carburetors using the chromed dual pot air cleaners and double-stamped radiator surge tank indicative of later production Corvettes; the Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission is operated by the stock factory floor shifter. The car’s clean lines are complemented with excellent chrome and brightwork, including the full-size spinner hubcaps on classic wide whitewall tires.

1962 Chrysler 300H Convertible

1962 Chrysler 300H Convertible 413/380 HP, Automatic, 1 of 123 Produced LOT S48 Chrysler moved its flagship 300H from the full-size New Yorker platform to the lighter, more compact Windsor platform, shedding 4 inches from its wheelbase and 400 pounds. Higherrate springs gave the torsion bar suspension a noticeable increase in overall performance. Gone were the rear fins, replaced by a smoothly contoured rear deck that suited the car’s more purposeful demeanor. Still, the 300H remained in a class by itself as a luxury performer. At 413 cubic inches, the standard dual 4-barrel Wedge engine delivered 380 HP at 5,200 rpm and an impressive 450 lb/ft of torque at 3,600 rpm, and the 300H interior, renowned for its four individual leather bucket seats, fulllength console and unique glowing highvoltage instrument panel, remained one of the most lavish in the industry. One of only 123 produced, this magnificently restored Festival Red 1962 300H convertible incorporates a Tan leather interior with all the standard amenities: air conditioning, push-button Torqueflite automatic, power top and windows, console-mounted tach and power steering and brakes. 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible 348 CI, Automatic LOT S49 It’s a complex motif: a sleek chromeplated jet streaks by at supersonic speed, leaving in its wake a set of crossed flags and a leaping Impala. It was the end of the Fifties, and yet there was still in such details a decidedly gregarious air about cars like this 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible, which is why they are still so beloved today. Appropriately enough, this Ermine White-on-Red Impala convertible endured a cross-country road trip – top down, we hope – from its point of purchase in Colorado to its new home in Florida. What a time it must have been, powering along through Kansas and then turning south from St. Louis toward Atlanta and beyond, that 348 CI 4-barrel thrumming away under the hood, with a Powerglide automatic, power steering and brakes at your service. Optioned with a Black power top and White tonneau, dual exhaust, two-bar spinner hubcaps, whitewalls, dual antennas and the everhandy tissue dispenser, it provided its occupants with the ride of a lifetime and a memory to never forget.

1957 Mercury Montclair Convertible

1957 Mercury Montclair Convertible Formerly On Display at the Famous ‘57 Heaven Museum LOT S50 In 1957 the mid-priced Mercury Montclair convertible competed with the bold new Turnpike Cruiser for popularity, selling only 4,248 copies in a strong sales market. Like its stable mate, the Montclair’s detailed “spaceage” styling and the considerable power of the 368/290 HP 4-barrel Turnpike Cruiser V-8 engine under the hood makes it a pleasure to own today and especially popular with show crowds. This spectacular 1957 Montclair convertible has been restored and kept in museum display condition with no battery or fluids added and carefully preserved since it was purchased from the famous 57 Heaven Museum in 2009. Fiesta Red is the perfect color for this splendid machine, and well complemented by the tri-color rolled and pleated interior, which features a padded dash, dash-mounted clock and radio and handy push-button controls for its Merc-O-Matic transmission. It is also equipped with a sharp White power-operated convertible top and outfitted in period goodies that include an articulated driver’s side spotlight, full wheel covers and wide whitewall tires.

1957 Plymouth Sport Fury Hardtop 318/290 HP, Automatic LOT S51 Styling took a back seat to simple availability as the automakers ramped up production to meet pent-up postWorld War II demand, but that exceptional seller’s market soon gave way to fierce competition as buyers began demanding models that reflected the new prosperity. After a slow start in that new direction, Plymouth overcame disappointing sales with fresher designs and a new deluxe performance model: the Fury. Initially an upgraded Belvedere, in 1957 the Fury was a fully-integrated design by the great Virgil Exner; suddenly everyone else was playing catch-up. This 1957 Plymouth is fully restored in the only color scheme available that year: Sand Dune White on Beige, with distinctive Gold fin accents and a handsome White and Brown interior. Showing 61,142 believed-actual miles, its dual Carter 4-barrel 318/290 HP V-8 is mated to a push-button Torqueflite automatic transmission. This milestone Plymouth is typically well-equipped with power steering and brakes, wide whitewalls and full-sized wheel covers, tinted glass, push-button radio, 150 MPH speedometer, swivel seats and dual exhaust. 76

1959 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible 318 CI Golden Commando Engine, Automatic LOT S52 Plymouth inserted the Sport version of its popular Fury line in 1959. Identified by the large medallion at the rear of each tailfin, the Sport Fury offered buyers Imperial-grade grandeur on a lesser budget and helped Plymouth maintain its position within the Big Three. It was the last year for the design and, to Fury fans, the best of a great vintage that made full use of styling chief Virgil Exner’s imagination in such features as the imitation rear spare tire cover, wraparound beltline and swivel bucket seats. This smart-looking 1959 Sport Fury convertible embodies those features along with the 318 CI Golden Commando engine with the optional “Superpak” 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust that raised its rating to 260 HP; a pushbutton-controlled automatic was still the order of the day along with power steering and brakes. A Black power convertible top, in-dash clock, dual antennas, full wheel covers and wide Whitewall tires give this Flame Red Sport Fury convertible the full load of Fifties flash.

1957 Dodge Custom Royale Convertible

1957 Dodge Custom Royale Convertible 325 CI Red Ram High-Performance Engine, Automatic, Recent Restoration LOT S53 The 1957 Dodge Custom Royale convertible was introduced amidst a virtual flurry of new advertising slogans and feature nomenclature. The “longer, lower, wider” Custom Royale featured “Twin-Set Driving and Parking Lights” above the front “Mono-Grille,” with “Soaring Swept Wings” housing new “Twin Jet Taillamps” out back; speeds were monitored by the new “Scope Sight” speedometer with its horizontal Red ribbon. Behind all the jargon was a machine with superior handling by virtue of new-for-1957 front torsion bar and rear leaf suspension which, when teamed with the optional 325 CI Red Ram high-performance engine, made for a genuine performer. Fresh from a restoration completed in 2012, this 1957 Custom Royale convertible is finished in correct Saddle over Glacier White and fitted with new chromed wire wheels wrapped in wide whitewall radial tires. 1957 DeSoto Adventurer Hardtop 345/345 HP, 1 of 1650 Built LOT S54 The new Adventurer was a daring piece of work that prompted Sports Car Illustrated to declare, “Here is a car that can be said to provide three major functions: it is a real pleasure to drive, it gives maximum driver and passenger comfort and entertainment, and it impresses the hell out of people.” The DeSoto Adventurer impressed buyers with its sure-footed performance, luxurious accommodations and exclusivity. This completely restored 1957 DeSoto Adventurer is formerly from the 57 Heaven museum collection and finished in the trademark combination of White with Adventurer Gold and Gold, White and tweed interior. 1965 Buick Riviera GS Hardtop 425/360 HP, Automatic LOT S57 Introduced by Buick in 1963 as their top personal luxury car, the Riviera was one of GM Styling chief Bill Mitchell’s most innovative designs, ranking with the new Sting Ray that debuted the same year. By 1965 the Gran Sport Edition was the top Riviera, with the most options and the most power. 1958 Edsel Pacer Convertible 361/303 HP, Automatic LOT S58 Flush with ambition after a successful turnaround from its late-40s doldrums, Ford management conceived a new line of cars to take direct aim at GM’s mid-market lineup that collectively sold almost 2 million cars in 1955. By the time of its introduction, however, Ford’s new Edsel Division faced a shrinking market that would seal its fortunes. The passing years have shown more kindness to the Edsel, which now basks in the appreciation of a nationwide community of admirers. Pricier and better equipped than its Ranger stable mate, the Edsel Pacer was powered by the E400 361/303 HP engine based on Ford’s Y-block V-8, with an optional automatic with steering wheel hub pushbutton controls. The 1958 Pacer convertible offered here is sharply finished in two-tone Ember Red and Silver Grey, a pairing nicely accented by the Red and Gold spinner centers on its full-size hubcaps. 1960 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

1960 Ford Thunderbird Convertible 430/350 HP Tri-Power, Automatic LOT S59 An unqualified styling triumph was the second-generation Ford Thunderbird. Most notably, the new T-Bird was a full 10 inches lower than the industry standard of the time and introduced the bucket seat-center console interior layout that still prevails today. This beautiful 1960 Thunderbird convertible enjoys those attributes and another introduced in 1959 models: the new 430 CI Thunderbird V-8. Sourced from the Lincoln engine line, the 430 employed a Tri Power carburetion setup with triple Holley 2-barrels to achieve 350 HP, giving the personal-luxury-themed T-Bird the heart of a NASCAR racer. Finished in slick Monte Carlo Red, it incorporates a lovely Tan interior highlighted by the folding top that completely disappears inside an integrated rear deck panel. The result is one of the sleekest profiles of any convertible in top-down form, made all the more enjoyable by the addition of power bucket seats and windows, power steering and brakes and stylish wide whitewalls on gleaming chromed wire wheels.

Ford’s 352/220 HP V-8, Cruise-O-Matic 2-speed automatic transmission, dual exhaust and power steering and brakes give the Galaxie 500 Sunliner surprising “big car” performance.

1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster 8.0L, 6-Speed with Approximately 6,000 Miles LOT S62 Finished in brilliant Viper Red with White Le Mans stripes and pinstriping, it has been driven a mere 6,000 believed-correct miles, a fact reflected in its outstanding original condition. A classic early model with removable side curtains and soft top, it is one of 2,394 built for the American market, almost all of which were similarly finished with this example’s Grey and Black leather interior with snug seating and White-face gauges. The heart of the Viper is its ground-pounding 8.0L V-10 engine, an imposing powerplant that generates 400 HP at 4,600 RPM and 465 lb/ft of torque at 3,600 RPM. Working through a Borg Warner T56 6-speed manual and a limited-slip rear axle, it rushes the Viper to 60 MPH in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of over 160 MPH. Like all first-generation Vipers, the car is equipped with power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes and integrated side exhaust, here with the added benefit of custom lightweight alloy wheels and Michelin performance radials.

1988 Ferrari Mondial Spyder Driven Only 4,000 Miles Since New LOT S63 Built from 1980 through 1993, the Ferrari Mondial resurrected the name used for the 500 Mondial racers of the early Fifties, but the new Mondial was conceived as a “useable” model offering 2+2 seating with Ferrari performance. After dabbling with Bertone’s angular styling in the previous GT4 series, Ferrari once again turned to Pininfarina for a more traditional-looking coupe and later an open-air Spyder that appeared in 1983. By the time this lovely 1988 Mondial from the Verde Classics Collection was built, the model had received several refinements, most notably in its midmounted DOHC V-8, which now packed 3.2 liters of displacement, 4-valve heads, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and twin distributors for almost 270 HP delivered through a 5-speed gearbox. With 4,000 miles since new, this Mondial Spyder is finished in Rosso Corso with a Tan Connolly leather interior and a Tan boot. No bare-bones conveyance, the car is exceptionally well equipped with power steering and disc brakes, power windows and locks and air conditioning.

2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Convertible 6.0L/420 HP, Automatic, Only 29,000 Miles Since New LOT S64 Verde Classics proprietor Ron Green chose this stunning 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage convertible as his personal driver, and it’s easy to see why. The DB7 Vantage is entirely custom made to each buyer’s individual tastes. In this case, the car sports traditional British Racing Green paint with a matching Green power top and Gold “hash mark” stripes on the right front fender. That color pairing is repeated inside in special-order two-tone Biscuit and Green leather upholstery on the seats, doors, console and dash, the latter three also sporting attractive burled wood accents. Pressing the Red starter button on the center dash panel causes the DB7’s V-12 engine to wake up with a solid bark before settling to a gentle purr that belies its 420 horsepower; a 5-speed automatic overdrive easily handles the engine’s power to deliver 165 MPH top speeds. A full service has just been completed on the car, which shows only 29,000 miles since new and comes with all performance and luxury options.

1995 Acura NSX-T DOHC V-TEC V-6, 5-Speed Manual, 1 of 780 Produced LOT S65 One of only 780 produced in 1995, this Acura NSX-T enjoys all the features that made the NSX such an all-around great sports car; in fact, many would call it a genuine supercar. The NSX was the first production car whose major components – body, chassis, engine and suspension – were all made of aluminum. It also utilized advanced V-TEC (Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control System) engine technology to achieve maximum torque throughout the transverse mid-mounted V-6 engine’s entire operating range, resulting in impressive acceleration. A 5-speed manual transaxle, 4-wheel independent suspension, power rack and pinion steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes give the NSX-T incredible response, handling and stopping power, but certainly not at the expense of plentiful creature comfort – or looks. This lowmileage Targa-Top NSX is finished in Ferrari Rosso Corso paint and has plenty to like inside the Tan leather cockpit, including power leather seats, power windows, locks and mirrors and cruise control.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder 164/150 HP, 4-Speed LOT S66

Verde Classics Museum Collection

The early success of the Volkswagen and Porsche prompted General Motors to introduce the rear-engined Corvair, a sporty compact that not coincidentally also targeted the Dodge Dart, Plymouth Valiant and Ford Falcon. Sensing latent public interest in a more sporting version, Chevrolet introduced the Corvair Monza, an innovative enthusiast’s car that offered an upscale interior with bucket seats and additional exterior bright trim. Contrary to the widely-accepted “Unsafe at Any Speed” reputation propagated by consumer lawyer Ralph Nader, the Corvair in general and the Monza in particular were smart-handling cars thanks to revised 4-wheel independent suspension that included a transverse camber-compensating rear spring. This Deep Red 1964 convertible is an outstanding example of the performance-oriented Monza Spyder and is particularly well-outfitted with a Red bucket seat interior, rare poweroperated White soft top, chromed bumpers and luggage rack and a beefy turbocharged 164/150 HP air-cooled flat-6 engine, floor-shifted manual transmission, AM radio, spinner wheel covers and whitewall tires. 103

1963 Volkswagen Beetle Ragtop Air Cooled Flat-4 Engine, 4-Speed Transaxle LOT S67 In 1920s Europe the concept of a massproduced car with a rear-mounted air cooled engine was advanced by Edmund Rumpler of Tropfenwagen fame, Hans Ledwinka of Tatra in Czechoslovakia, Motor-Kritik magazine editor Joseph Ganz and, of course, Ferdinand Porsche. The ensuing Great Depression and World War II played the same havoc on those plans as they did on everything else in the world, but not before Porsche’s basic design was adopted by the German Labor Front’s Volkswagen project. By the time the Beetle ragtop offered here was produced in 1963, the car was a worldwide phenomenon. Driven by the famous air-cooled flat-4 engine with a 4-speed transaxle, this charming little Black-on-Red Beetle is fully dressed in all the goodies that could be had at the time: a sliding canvas top, removable luggage rack, wide whitewall tires, wheel trim rings and hubcaps, headlight shades, bumper extensions, door handle nail guards, contrasting fender welting – and as much chrome and stainless trim as could be found.

1964 Dodge Polara Convertible 440 CI magnum, Automatic, Triple Black LOT S68 In 1964 Dodge emerged from a threeyear period fraught with missteps and last minute design changes into more placid waters, allowing stylist Elwood Engel the opportunity to replace Virgil Exner’s concepts with his own. One of the results of that new freedom was the handsome new Polara. Sporting thoughtfully detailed front and rear treatments, the Polara fulfilled customer demands for a new personal luxury car, significantly increasing sales over the previous year. The 1964 Dodge Polara convertible offered here embodies all the strengths of the new design while benefitting from the increased power of a later-model 440 CI Magnum engine with high-performance camshaft and push-button Torqueflite automatic transmission. A triple-Black color scheme imparts an extra dose of elegance to this already-sharp convertible, which also incorporates full instrumentation, power steering and brakes, a power soft top and a column-mounted Sun tachometer.

1963 Studebaker Avanti Coupe 289 CI, Dealer Installed R3 Supercharger LOT S69 As part of his ambitious plan to save Studebaker Corporation, company president Sherwood Egbert called on Raymond Loewy to return to the position he left in 1956 and design a new generation of Studebaker passenger cars. Based on the hefty Lark frame, the uniquely-styled Avanti was powered by Studebaker’s faithful 289/240 HP V-8. A Paxton-supercharged R2 version was followed by more powerful engine packages dubbed R3, R4 and R5. Factory produced as an R2 supercharged car, this 1963 Avanti from the Verde Collection is one of a handful sold with the dealer-installed R3 package rated at 335 HP. Ron and Fran acquired this Studebaker from the estate of the original owner before fully restoring the car. The first American production car to feature powerassisted front disc brakes, it also offers a 3-speed automatic transmission, power windows, an attractive leather bucket seat interior and factory chrome wheel covers.

106

1965 Plymouth Satellite Convertible 426 CI Max Wedge, Automatic LOT S70 The sporty Satellite was the top model in Plymouth’s midsize Belvedere lineup for 1965, offering buyers clean styling by Elwood Engel, who had been called upon to revitalize Chrysler’s stodgy early-Sixties image. The sleeker new car arrived to good reviews that welcomed its clean features, upscale bucket seat interior and an array of V-8 engines. Only 1,860 Satellite convertibles were built, making them quite rare today, especially in the case of this sharp-looking R45 convertible that runs under the power of a race-proven 426/365 HP Max Wedge V-8 engine fitted with a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust and mated to a Torqueflite 3-speed automatic. Finished in Copper Metallic paint, this rare Satellite convertible also features a Black soft top, a Black interior with center console with shifter and tachometer, power steering, full-size spinner wheel covers and whitewall tires.

1979 Dodge Li’l Red Express Pickup 360 CI, Dual-Snorkel Fresh Air Intake LOT S71 In 1978 Dodge engineers had discovered that EPA regulations allowed light trucks of over 6,100 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight to run completely unfettered by engine pollution controls, and the prototypical “muscle truck” was born. This sassy 1979 Li’l Red Express Truck is restored just as it rolled out of the factory in Bright Red with Gold graphics and pinstriping with new wood panelling on the cargo bed exterior and floor. Under the hood, the E58-specification Police engine is equipped with the standard 360 CI cam, dual-snorkel fresh air intake, chromed valve covers and air cleaner, heavy duty valve springs, cold air induction, and dual exhausts that end behind the cab in great stainless steel stacks that look as if they’d been borrowed from a Peterbilt 18-wheeler. Chromed slotted wheels and whiteletter tires were standard; this example also incorporates power steering and brakes, air conditioning, a leather bench seat, special 3-spoke steering wheel, sliding rear window, chrome bumpers and AM/FM/CD stereo.

1975 Buick LeSabre Convertible 455 CI, Automatic LOT S72 In the early Seventies Buick had been busy responding to the fuel crunch and federal safety and emissions requirements, and more stringent rollover standards were pointing to the end of the convertible, at least for years to come. But that didn’t stop Buick from producing one last fullsize grandee convertible: the 1975 LeSabre Custom, a low-volume final edition that totalled just over 5,300 cars, a superb example of which is offered in this showpiece. Sporting the top-of-the-line 455 CI 4-barrel engine mated to a Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, it features deep Ruby Red paint polished to a glass-like finish and complemented with a White convertible top and a handsome Red interior with plush White seats. Chromed wheels and whitewall tires add a further touch of elegance to the car, which also serves up air conditioning, power steering and brakes, power windows, parade boot, remote driver’s mirror, tilt steering wheel, AM/FM radio and tinted windshield, with just 26,000 believed actual miles since new.

109

1975 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible 350 CI, Automatic LOT S73 By 1975 the writing was on the wall for Detroit-produced convertibles, the only Oldsmobile entry being the opulent Delta 88. Incredibly, sales of the Delta 88 convertible went through the roof in its final year of production as buyers, aware of the model’s impending demise and counting on a future collectible, snapped up 21,038 examples versus just 3,716 in 1974. This 1975 Delta 88 convertible from the Verde Classics Collection is an impeccably maintained example with just 18,000 believed-actual miles since new. The big 88’s “grown-up” styling is beautifully enhanced by its combination of Cameo White paint, a White convertible top and White interior with Red dash, carpets and trim - truly striking arrangement that is perfectly finished with whitewall tires and elegant wire hubcaps. The Ram Air-fed engines of just a few years earlier were gone, but the Delta 88’s 350 CI V-8 engine and Turbo automatic transmission move the car with smooth authority. Optional extras include dual exhaust, power steering and power brakes, air conditioning, power top and windows, remote driver’s mirror and an AM/FM stereo. 110

1975 Pontiac Grandville Convertible 455/200 HP High-Performance V-8 LOT S74 One of the few remaining bright spots on the 1975 full-size car scene, the Pontiac Grandville convertible was the last drop-top Pontiac until 1984, and the last full-size Pontiac ever produced. The Grandville was one grand final gesture to The Big American Car. This 1975 Grandville convertible shows off all the opulence of that model in a show-quality presentation highlighted by spectacular mirrorfinish Starlight Black with a Black interior and contrasting White power soft top. Typical of this top-of-the-line Pontiac, it is powered by the 455/200 HP High Performance V-8 with dual exhaust and loaded with the full roster of accessories that includes power steering and brakes, air conditioning, power windows, locks and seats, a remote driver’s mirror, AM/FM radio, fender skirts and bright-trimmed Sport wheels. Showing a believed-correct 19,000 miles, this pristine showpiece will transport its occupants in the high style of Pontiac’s last great convertible.

2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG Convertible SOHC 5.5L/392 HP V-8, Automatic with 30,000 Miles Since New LOT S75 Another of Ron Green’s personal favorites from the Verde Classics Collection, this completely serviced 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK55 AMG convertible is no “ordinary” Benz, but a real road rocket powered by a handbuilt SOHC 5.5L/342 HP V-8 engine packed with forged crank, rods and pistons, high-flow heads with special cams and valve springs and a modified intake manifold, together which propel the CLK55 to 60 MPH in just 5.1 seconds with a console-shifted automatic at hand. The chassis also benefits from the AMG touch in the form of competition suspension and larger race-proven disc brakes, while special spoked alloy wheels and highperformance tires combine with AMG bodywork to give the CLK55 a German Touring-Car look. Metallic Silver paint is matched with a newer Black insulated disappearing top and a luxury-grade AMG Black leather interior with heated seats, power steering and brakes and power windows.

1999 Mercedes-Benz 500SL Roadster 5.0L V-8, Automatic with Less Than 40,000 Miles Since New LOT S76 There is no missing this head-turning 1999 Mercedes-Benz 500SL roadster. The personal daily driver of Verde Classics Collection Museum proprietor Fran Green, it is custom-finished in mouth-waterin g Lipstick Red paint with special White pinstriping. The pristine Tan leather interior exhibits the superb quality that typifies the 500SL, with custom Red accents on the steering wheel and dash center panel, heated bucket seats and custom made sheepskin seat covers. In addition to a brand new power-operated Tan disappearing soft top, this exclusive SL roadster comes with an auxiliary hard top and new Continental radial tires on custom AMG 18-inch alloy wheels, the latter part of the Sport Edition package that adds aero-style lower body work and other handling and performance improvements. Rock-solid MercedesBenz reliability comes hand in hand with the SL’s powerful 5.0L/302 OHC V-8 and 4-speed automatic transmission.

113

1991 BMW 850i Coupe 5.0L V-12, Automatic with 49,000 Miles Since New LOT S77 This 1991 BMW 850i represents the cutting edge of technology at the time of its production. Under its finely sculpted hood is an aluminum-block 5.0L/296 HP V-12 with the first drive-by-wire throttle system ever used in a regular production vehicle, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. An active 5-link rear suspension and electronic stability control, also one of the industry’s first, keep the 850i in control even at the limit, and the interior offers a wide array of amenities that include keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, power sunroof with rain shield, a multi-speaker stereo and windows that automatically close as speed climbs. Capping off all those goodies is the fact that the 850i is one of the best-looking German cars of the last 50 years, making it one very desirable grand touring machine. A major service has just been completed on this Dark Silver coupe, which now registers a believedcorrect 49,000 miles since new. It also has new custom floor mats and new tires on great-looking BMW M Series Sport wheels.

114

2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Car Florida Highway Patrol Car Replica LOT S78 The Ford Crown Victoria has done yeoman service in police departments all over North America since its introduction in 1991, due in no small part to the durability of the body-onframe Panther platform it shared with the Lincoln Town Car and the Mercury Grand Marquis. The frame-on-body construction allowed for less expensive maintenance and repair, while the front-engine/rear drive layout gave predictable handling under almost any driving conditions. This 1993 Crown Victoria replicates the typical Crown Victoria Police Interceptor used by the Florida Highway Patrol. Its basic equipment provides the perfect basis for such a special-purpose vehicle: a dependable 4.6L V-8 mated to an automatic transmission; air conditioning, power steering and power brakes, and a roomy but simple interior with a vinyl floor, AM/FM radio and tilt steering. The roof-mounted light rack, spotlight, CB radio and reinforced front bumper are typical features of a Highway Patrol car.
