South Campus 2015-2016
Welcome Welcome South Campus Residents! On behalf of The Office of Residence Life, I would like to welcome back our returning residents and welcome our new residents to the South Campus Apartment and Skyhalls. My staff and I are truly excited to have you all join us this year. We have decided that this year we want to focus on creating an experience for our residents that we coin “Giving you the keys to success.” For my staff and I this means giving you programs, interactive activities or just information that will allow you to be successful at Syracuse University and beyond. As a result, this year on South Campus you will see more interactions with our professional staff as they host interactive events that range from Do It Your Self (DIY) Sessions where you can build things to go into your
apartment to a more beefed up wellness series that will include weekly yoga in the Goldstein Student Center to meal on the go demo’s with great take away kits. We have also re-envisioned The Pledge for the upcoming year. The Pledge is our resident engagement series. This is the third year of this series and we are excited to engage with you more. You will still see some of our signature programs like Meet an Advisor Night, however we have some new programs that we know you will like. We challenge you to contact our office with new ideas of programs or engagement ideas you would like to see this year. We want to give the keys to your success so we need to hear from you to make sure we hit our target. Wait before I go did I say that all these things are FREE!!!!
As you can tell we have been busy planning for your stay here on South Campus. I will be hosting Chat with Cat days this semester to give residents an opportunity to talk to me about things occurring on South Campus, and how we can improve your experience. There will be FREE FOOD at these chats. Keep on top of your email as you don’t want to miss them. Have a great rest of your summer and see you at opening. Sincerely,
Catherine M. Kellman Assistant Director

Navigating The Buses
South Campus is primarily a residential area, although several offices and departments are located here. For the safety of our community, please abide by all posted speed limit signs and be cautious when driving near buses as students, faculty, and staff may be exiting the bus and crossing the street. The primary South Campus bus numbers are the 144, 244, 344, and 544. See their schedules so that you are familiar with the pick-up and drop off times. The complete bus schedule is available on the Parking and Transit Services website as well as on the Centro website. Information regarding road closures, detours, and current weather conditions that have an impact on transportation will be distributed through the Parking and Transit Services’ Twitter Account: @suparking Be sure to follow them today!
Campus bus service is coordinated through Parking and Transit Services and serviced by the Centro bus system. On South Campus, bus service throughout the apartments operates using a 7-minute schedule. As a result, there should be a bus stopping at the bus stops about every 7 minutes during peak class time hours. While this provides a bus service that is convenient, with frequent pick-ups, it is important to plan accordingly based on your academic schedule/transportation needs, inclement weather, and the usage of other rides.
Passengers with visual impairments riding the Caz Limo Nob Hill and James-East Genesee Street routes are encouraged to tell the driver their destinations when boarding the bus. The driver will announce the stop to ensure that it is not missed. Passengers requiring the use of a wheelchair or other mobility aids on Caz Limo Nob Hill and James-East Genesee Street routes are encouraged to contact Caz Limo in advance at 315.807.8109. Contacting Caz Limo in advance will allow drivers the opportunity to ensure that space is available in the areas designated for passengers who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids. In the event of an emergency, the emergency contact number for bus related issues is 315.443.4652, option #7 (Parking & Transit Services). Please report all incidents promptly via phone or email (parkmail@syr.edu) within 24 hours, and state all pertinent information in order for incidents to be resolved in a timely manner.
