SUSSEX CRICKET SOCIETY PART OF THE FAMILY
Make the season last all year – join the Sussex Cricket Society and meet fellow supporters in convivial surroundings throughout the off-season.
From October to March, the Society arranges a programme of lunchtime and afternoon meetings for members and their friends to hear talks by well-known cricketing personalities past and present.
During the past year we have been wonderfully entertained by Sir Rod Aldridge, Bill Athey, John Barclay, Annie Chave, Paul Farbrace, Jon Filby, Ian Gould and Bruce Talbot, Roger Knight, Andy Mackay, Derek Pringle, Martin Richards, Fred Rumsey and Stephen Chalke and Alexia Walker. All meetings are held at the 1st Central County Ground.
Members also receive a monthly newsletter, which provides regular news, as well as news and comment on both County and League Cricket in Sussex and more broadly. This is also available to non-members on the Society’s website.
The Society also provides financial support to the Sussex Youth Cricket Development programmes, both girls and boys, to assist youngsters in their cricket development and training, such as its donations to the very important
Champions Fund – which is often known as the Hardship Fund.
Additionally, the Society makes an Annual Award to its Sussex Cricketer of The Year, voted by Society members (in 2022, this was Ali Orr) and gives two £100 awards each year for the best batting and the best bowling performances during the season in The Sussex Cricket League.
Do please join a thriving organisation, which is an important part of the Sussex Cricket Family and provides fascinating insights into the lives of the individual speakers. We can promise that you will enjoy socialising with fellow cricket supporters and have great fun!
