Uppark National Trust is a house which has seen romantic tales, a devastating fire and a faithful restoration. Hidden high up on the South Downs ridge it commands views reaching as far as the English Channel, surrounded by wildflower meadows, scented gardens and rolling hills.

The house is largely the vision of Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh and his wife Sarah, who refurbished the interiors to the fine Georgian style you see today. They filled it with exquisite French furniture, delicate Dutch porcelain and captivating Italian paintings collected on their travels around Europe.
