Worthing Festival 10th - 18th June ’23 A celebration of arts & culture by Nicolette Alaté, Worthing Arts Forum

From 10th-18th June, locals and visitors are being treated to a huge array of daytime and after-dark festivities for all ages. Community hubs, galleries and museums are welcoming participants to make music, write, paint, create, try yoga, taste international food, reinvent fashion and discover traditional crafts. Performances are set to appear in open spaces, historians are offering to transport you to Worthing’s past through talks, guided walks, building tours, mysteries and archaeological treasures. Venues old and new, are laying on cultural entertainment in the form of live music in every genre, comedy, Regency cream teas, discussions, author and poet talks, films, sing-alongs, open mics and more. ‘Sussex Day’ will be celebrated again through merry gettogethers over food, cocktails, and story-telling.

Nick Jones, Centre Manager at AudioActive Worthing said; “Our ‘Meet the Family’ gig will celebrate and showcase our music practitioners who, aside from leading our free, weekly music sessions for young people, are successful artists, in their own right. Expect fiery sets from Bobbie Johnson, Phonetic, Gi3mo, and Bigzy plus more.”

James Tully, Film and Marketing Manager at Connaught Cinema added; “We can’t wait. Our bar will host an exhibition about cinema in Worthing, past to present. We’re screening local films including ‘Spirit of the Downs’ and ‘Prankenstein’, a film by children for children, with original songs.” Memorable finales for the festival are planned too, including Drumheads’ ‘Sea-Front Drum-Jam’ aka ‘everyone’s band'.
