20 Seasonal Recipe

Ingredients • 8 ozs stale bread • 2 ozs suet • 2 ozs sugar • 1 egg • 6 ozs mixed dried fruit (sultanas, raisins, currants) • 1 teaspoon mixed spice • pinch of nutmeg • milk to mix Bread Pudding A tried, tested and tasty recipe for using up stale bread. Method • Break bread into small pieces and soak in cold water • Strain and squeeze bread out as dry as possible • Place in mixing bowl and break up with a fork • Add dried fruit, suet, sugar and mixed spice • Beat egg and add to mix plus enough milk to allow the mixture to drop easily from a spoon • Place in a greased, shallow tin. Bake for one hour at gas mark 4 or 180c • When cooked turn out on to a hot dish and sprinkle with sugar
