FASCINATING FACTS
The longest hiccup attack lasted 68 years - (and here's me thinking a 5 minute hiccup attack is too long!!)
In 1945 a flock of starlings landed on the minute hand of Big Ben and put the time back by five minutes. - (I suppose they were just killing time.)
Cleopatra was the last ruler of the Egyptian Ptolemaic dynasty - (and quite a gal if we believe all the stories)
Borley Rectory in Essex is known as the most haunted house in England (anyone fancy spending a night there?)
Eisoptrophobia is a fear of mirrors. (Yep, and the funny thing is, the older I get the worse that phobia gets !)
The Ghost Club founded in 1851, is the oldest organisation in the world dedicated to the study of the paranormal. - (Mmm wonder if they ever spent a night at Borley Rectory?)
The Flehmen response is a pose where an animal curls back its lips, closes its nostrils and inhales through its mouth to savour an attractive scent. - (Ah yes, a bit like me when I smell chocolate.)
Deep fried Tarantula is a popular dish in Cambodia - (It's at times like this that I'm glad I'm a vegetarian)
Spring really is in the air. Your sense of smell can be more acute in spring as there is usually more moisture in the air. - (There is nothing nicer than that smell of Spring in the air.)
Spiders, lobsters and snails have blue blood owing to the presence of haemocyanin which contains copper (They are obviously true Royals)
Well there you are readers. Another set of facts that you can astound your friends with. Don't worry there will be more interesting and weird facts for you in our next issue of Love2Line. Don't miss it!
LIVING LEGEND EPIC LIST INDUCTEE GUYTON MUNDY Thank you so much for saying a few words for us. We didn't want your retirement passing without acknowledging the impact you have had in Line dancing and how sad it is that you have decided to retire. You have had such a varied dance career and are both a talented dancer and choreographer. What drew you to line dancing? So what drew me to line dance? it was just a crazy meeting at a club in Orlando Florida. Pedro came up to me in a club and wanted me to do a hip hop class in England and that’s how it started.
INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHER LOVE2LINE EPIC LIST INDUCTEE GUYTON MUNDY
You have had a clear influence in how line dancing has developed. How do you feel about your contribution? I guess I brought a new style of line dancing in. a cross between hip hop and lyrical. I have truly enjoyed sharing my different style with everyone and I think that people have enjoyed it, but there are always the ones who want to keep line dance the original way. so I guess I have made some happy and some not so much. You have touched so many lives with your emotive choreography how does that make you feel? It makes me feel great to see people doing the harder choreography that I do. To see the people who want to challenge themselves to become better dancers and understand music more.
Why have you decided to retire? What will you do with your free time?

THE STORY BEHIND THE MAN
Guyton Mundy started his dance career when he auditioned for the entertainment department at Walt Disney World in 1993. While doing live shows, parades and television filming at Disney, Guyton found himself with a group of young Hip-Hop dancers. Shortly after they were being called upon to do shows, television and choreography. Guyton later found that his talent extended into line dancing as well. He began his line dance career when he was invited to Manchester England to do an event with Pedro Machado. After returning to the U.S. he attended the 2002 Orange Blossom Dance Festival in Orlando FL, where he won his first Choreography competition.
At the 2003 Worlds in Nashville, Guyton became the first person to compete in all five line dance choreography events and placed in the top five in all. He also became the first person to take two First place World Championships in the same year. Guyton says he has become a better dancer since getting into line dancing and believes dancing is not something you do, it's something you live and feel.

If you want to take a trip back in time why not visit the beautiful and Medieval city of York. In the Middle Ages, York was home to great wealth and great squalor. It was noisy and crowded: the city was filled with narrow lanes crammed with houses. Some had yards where they kept pigs and other animals. But there were also gardens and orchards within the city, and the open country and farmland was never far away. York has, since Roman times, been defended by walls of one form or another. To this day, substantial portions of the walls remain, and York has more miles of intact wall than any other city in England. Walking the walls allows you to take in some spectacular views of the City and historic architecture. York's most famous street is lined with timber-framed buildings.
Shambles (also known as 'The Shambles') is a bustling centre piece of historic York. The street today is one of the UK's most visited and has become a wealth of shopping, tourist attractions, restaurants and many other things to see and do, including tours, ghost walks and historic talks. The way that fifteenth century buildings lean into the middle of the cobbled street means that the roofs almost touch in the middle. Mentioned in the Domesday book (making it date over 900 years), we know Shambles to be York 's oldest street, and Europe's best preserved Medieval street. It really is a very special place and worth a visit. There is so much to see and do in York we suggest you book more than a couple of nights, and whilst you are there why not drop in and see Ami Carter at her line dance classes.

‘What? Is Trevor not taking you out anywhere?’ Mandy sighed. ‘No, he says he’s got to work late. Again.’ ‘But it’s your anniversary. ‘Oh Sharon, I think he’s having an affair.’ Mandy burst into tears. Sharon put her arm round her friend. ‘Trevor having an affair? I can’t believe that. What on earth has made you think Here is another short story for you, that?’ which, once again, has been inspired ‘For one thing, he’s been working late by the title of a line dance. In this issue of Love2Line the story is called most nights for the past two months. ‘Grand Master Sexy’, a line dance Sometimes he doesn’t get in until well choreographed by Karl-Harry after midnight. I mean, for goodness Winson. Does Mandy enjoy her girly sake, he’s a painter and decorator. Who night out? Does she teach her has their house painted at that time of husband Trevor a lesson? Sit down night?’ with a cup of coffee and a biscuit, put ‘That is a bit strange but maybe your feet up and enjoy this humorous there’s a valid reason. I mean perhaps little story. he’s being employed by a firm who want someone to work in the evening when Grand Master Sexy the premises are empty.’ .COFFEE BREAK FICTION
‘No, I looked in his diary and he’s just The two friends sat in their favourite coffee shop, sipping their skinny doing private houses at the moment. He’s latte’s and enjoying a piece of definitely up to something Sharon. Another thing is that he has started going luscious carrot cake. to a gym.’ ‘So Mandy, how are you going to ‘Your Trevor going to a gym?’ Sharon spend your wedding anniversary?’ chuckled. ‘He hasn’t got a six pack, more like a barrel.’ ‘Same as I spend every other day. ‘You haven’t seen him lately. Since Washing, ironing, sitting in front of the t.v. with a glass of wine watching joining the gym he’s lost weight and toned up. He’s also started using fake tan and the soaps.’ Surely that’s more important than has shaved his hair off. Says it makes him look younger and sexier.’ work.’
Sharon hugged her friend. ‘Look love it might be nothing; maybe he’s having a mid-life crisis. Have you spoken to him about it?’ ‘Oh yes but he just says I’m being paranoid and that there’s nothing wrong in taking care of your body.’ ‘It’s probably just the male menopause. I read somewhere that men start acting a bit weird in middle age because they think they are losing their sex appeal.’ ‘I hope so. He’s certainly acting very strange.’ ‘Look Mandy, next Friday me and some of the girls from work are having a girly night out. We’re hiring a minibus and going round town. There’s plenty of room if you want to come.’ ‘Oh I don’t know.’ ‘Come on, it’ll be a laugh and do you good. Perhaps it will make lover boy sit up and take notice if you doll yourself up to the nines.’ Mandy wiped her eyes and sighed. ‘Okay, yes I will come. Why not? I’m fed up of staying in every night whilst he’s out doing goodness knows what.’ Sharon patted her on the back. ‘Good girl, we’ll have a great time.’
The following Friday night found Mandy standing in front of her full-length wardrobe mirror staring at her reflection.
She liked what she saw. Gone were the usual tracksuit bottoms and baggy t-shirt. Instead she wore a gold figure hugging dress that showed off her curvy figure. Her hair, which was usually scraped up into a ponytail, now hung loosely and seductively around her shoulders. Mandy’s neighbour, who worked on a cosmetic counter, had expertly made up her face. Smoky eye shadow made her eyes look enormous and vibrant red lipstick with a coating of gloss made her look alluring and sultry. Mandy was determined to enjoy herself. Earlier in the evening Trevor had given her a quick peck on the cheek and dashed out of the house telling her not to wait up for him. The nerve of the man. He had reeked of aftershave. Two hours later the girls were on top form. They tottered in their outrageously high heels from bar to bar knocking back copious amounts of shots and wine. Eventually they found themselves outside a nightclub. ‘Okay’, Sharon giggled, ‘this is our final stop for the evening, our ‘piece de resistance.’’ ‘Is it a disco?’ Mandy queried, ‘only I don’t think my feet are up to dancing. ’ ‘No. This club has cabaret and tonight my dear girlies we are going to be entertained by male strippers.’ The girls whooped and cheered as they piled into the club. Sharon was a friend of the manager and so she managed
‘We won’t need our specs on sitting here. ’ She giggled. The compere announced the first act, which was a group of male strippers called ‘Muscle Bound.’ The girls went hysterical, especially when one of the men pulled two of them on stage to rub baby oil on them. Mandy laughed so much her mascara ran down her cheeks. ‘Oh Sharon, I’m so glad I came with you. I haven’t had this much fun in ages.’ ‘I knew it would do you good, and the night is still young.’ The girls enjoyed the cabaret singing along with a Barry Manilow tribute act screaming with laughter at a comedian who told very blue jokes. The compere came back on the stage. ‘Right folks, it’s been a great night and it’s not over yet. This is our last act of the night, but he’s certainly not the least if you get my drift ladies. He is a new guy on the block so give a big round of applause to Grand Master Sexy.’ The room erupted to the sound of raucous shouting and clapping as the male stripper strolled onto the stage. He was dressed as a Roman soldier complete with military clothing.
.On his head he wore a spectacular gold helmet with a red plume on the top. A leather top and short tunic revealed welltoned legs. A magnificent cloak of red and gold topped off the outfit. The audience went wild as the music to ‘I’m Sexy And I Know It’ belted round the room. Grand Master Sexy started to gyrate slowly to the music, his hips moving like a snake. He loosened his cloak and seductively draped it over one of the girls. Then he started to slowly take off his clothing until he was only wearing his helmet and a very skimpy thong. Turning his back to the audience he started twerking his very toned bottom. All of a sudden Mandy screamed and jumped out of her seat. She jumped on to the stage.
Sharon yelled out. ‘Mandy what’s wrong, what on earth are you doing?’ Grand Master Sexy turned round when he heard the commotion. When he saw Mandy he jumped back in surprise. Mandy slapped him on the arm. ‘You swine! So this is what you’ve been doing behind my back. Working late indeed. You creep! ’ She turned round to the girls. ‘This isn’t Grand Master Sexy; this is my stupid husband Trevor. I recognised his backside.’ She whipped off his helmet. Trevor looked stunned, his cheeks bright red.
The compere who was clearly perplexed rushed on the stage making gestures to the organist to begin playing as the curtains closed on the stage. Half an hour later, Trevor put his arm round Mandy. ‘I was only doing it for us love, to try and make more money. I didn’t tell you because I wasn’t sure how you’d take it.’ ‘I wish you had told me,’ she cried, ‘I honestly thought you were having an affair.’ ‘So you don’t mind me doing this? ‘Oh no I don’t mind you being Grand Master Sexy, just as long as I’m the only one who sees him.’

Fancy a trip back in time.
This month we saw a fun filled workshop by Jo Conroy, Laura Sway & Gary Samms
FUN IN THE SUN Julie Lockton and Daniel Whittaker, back in March, co hosted the biggest event Benidorm has ever seen as far as Linedancing is concerned and did it go down with a bang! It sure did! After selling 189 places, the Hotel Levante Club was buzzing with Linedancers from the UK, Spain, France, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Norway! It was truly a European event! The guest artists, Ria Vos, Karl H Winson, Laura Sway, Esmeralda Van de Pol, Neville and Julie, Michelle Risley and of course, Daniel and Julie, all taught new dances at their packed workshops! Ria taught as one of her new teaches "Refund to my heart". Karl taught as one of his, "Happy go Lucky". Michelle taught as one of hers "I keep forgetting". Laura taught "Friday at the dance", Esmeralda taught her dance "Saved my Soul", which was re-released at this event having been originally choreographed back in 2011. Daniel taught "Scared of the dark" and Julie taught, as one of hers, "A Cold Beer". Neville and Julie included "Grace" as one of their new teaches !! Natalie sang on Friday evening and Richard on Monday evening ! Michelle hosted her "Peacetrain" disco on the Saturday night! The dance floor was packed all five days! Julie says "It was great to welcome so many new friends to this event, especially from Germany, Spain and Switzerland".
The event was held over 5 days and 5 evenings, from March 17th to 21st! The dancers were absolutely amazing with their contributions to "Busy Bees Benidorm" ! Julie asked them all for optional donations, baby and childrens items in particular toiletries, for the Benidorm charity for kids homes there on the Costablanca. Wayne Bellamy-Wright, who you may well have seen on Channel 5 TV, in the series "Bargain Brits Living Abroad", together with his partner Des, came to the Hotel on the Sunday to collect the stacks and stacks of items! What was collected was incredible! Michelle, Julie and Daniel also organised a raffle for LDF !! Photos were taken of all the dancers with the LDF bag and the three lucky winners won a brand new pair of dance shoes of their choice, kindly donated by Janis Budgen, who had her shoe stand at the event, a voucher for a Linedance International event discount and lots of goodies including wine, chocolates, toiletries and sweets !! Julie runs events in Benidorm twice every year, always March and October! Her next event is "Shamrocks and Sunshine", this coming October, with Gary O Reilly and Helen O´Malley. Dance Reviews DY NA MITE
64 Count 2 Wall Intermediate Music: 'Dynamite' by Nause (feat. Pretty Sister) Single
Choreographed by Dee Musk
I was looking for a fun, not too challenging upbeat dance to teach at my intermediate class. II'd seen this dance discussed online and also seen it danced at a social although I wasn't sure I was so keen on the music but I decided to give it a go. Relatively easy teach although the count 9-16 were the most challenging at first followed by the box steps coming close second, but once they achieve these all the rest of the dance was thoroughly enjoyed. The anti-clockwise hip bumps got a few giggles. 2 easy restarts no tags. Enjoyed by the whole class and danced 3 times throughout the night. I think this is going to be a class favourite.
SCARED OF THE DARK
64 Count 4 Wall Intermediate Music - Scared of the dark by steps
Choreographer: Daniel Whittaker
Scared of the dark written to Steps new track by Daniel Whittaker is a 64 count 4 wall intermediate dance. The steps fit the track really well and have an 80s disco feel making it fun. The steps are not too challenging and can be enjoyed by high improvers and intermediates. The 1 restart on wall 2 is most welcome as it signals the start of the heavy beat in the tune. this is when the dancers kick it up a beat and start enjoying it more. It is such an upbeat track you will find yourself singing along in no time.

TONGUE TIED UP 64 Count 2 Wall Intermediate Music Tongue Tied by Earl
Choreographer: Teresa & Vera
If you haven't yet tried Tongue Tied Up I recommend you give it a try. Its a fun dance at intermediate level but the repeating routine makes it more achievable for the improvers to try. The music is a lively Charleston and Teresa and Vera have added fun steps that fit the music perfectly. The class all love the tippie toes and like to add their own style and arms. With no tags or restarts this 2 wall dance is a winner!!
NANCY MULLIGAN 32 Count 4 wall Improver Music:: Nancy Mulligan Ed Sheeran
Choreographers: Maggie & Gary
Fun improver level dance with some quirky steps. The class in particular like the stomp toe heel together x2 and the ending with the scuff hitch cross side. With only 1 restart on wall 1 its not too tricky to trip up the improvers and the fun and unusual steps are enough to keep the intermediates interested. I think this will be a floor filler at events for quite some time. Great Irishy track by Ed Sheeran
DIARY OF A LINE DANCER Well, fellow dancers, I’ve gone and done it. I’ve got myself a Fit Bit. Before you splutter coffee all over your keyboard and fall on the floor in shock, I don’t mean I’ve got myself a handsome toyboy, with pecs to die for and toned abs. Chance would be a fine thing for a start. No, for those who are not into gadgets a Fit Bit is a physical activity tracker designed to help you become more active, diet conscious and hopefully help to turn you into a fitter healthier person. My Fit Bit looks like a watch, which I wear on my wrist. At a touch of a button I can see how many steps I have done, calories taken in and used up, monitor my heart rate and I can also go on virtual walks. Yes I’ve walked halfway across the Grand Canyon!! I can even sleep with it on and in the morning it tells me the quality of my sleep and number of times I have had disturbed sleep. In fact, it does almost everything except my ironing. It is very useful as I can see how many steps I do with various activities, such as walking, housework and shopping. When dancing, I can see how many steps each dance has!
As my job entails working on a computer, it is very easy to get engrossed in what I am doing and forget to take time out to walk around. I have put a target of 250 steps every hour on my Fit Bit which ensures that every hour I get some exercise. Now this is a great idea and if I forget to do my steps, five minutes before the end of the hour my Fit Bit vibrates letting me know that I need to get off my backside NOW. At first the vibrating gave me quite a turn and I thought I was suffering from some dreadful illness, but I soon got used to it. On the other hand, my better half has realised that it isn’t a good idea to be near me when the clock says five to the hour. When my Fit Bit vibrates, I charge round the house at a speed that would make any sprinter jealous, to get my steps in. Unfortunately, my other half, pottering around minding his own business, got caught up in the whirlwind that was me, a couple of times, nearly ending up on the floor. He now looks at the clock and knows when to secrete himself in some safe corner until the danger period is over!
When I reach the golden figure of 10,000 steps my Fit Bit vibrates and fireworks appear on the screen. The first time this happened I was on the dance floor doing Gypsy Queen and I let out such a whoop of joy I think the other dancers thought I’d totally lost my marbles. One thing I have discovered about the Fit Bit is that it is like having a disapproving elderly relative tutting in your ear, telling you off for bad behaviour. For example, when I’m out dancing, giving my all on the dance floor, a little message appears at about 10 p. m. on the screen announcing that I really should start winding down and getting ready for bed. This makes me feel like a recalcitrant teenager and once I admit, (much to my shame) that I stuck my tongue out at my Fit Bit. Needless to say I do tend to ignore it now.
On a positive note, it has made me more active on the days that I don’t dance and keeping count of my calorie intake also makes me aware of what I am eating. In fact I have grown to love my bossy, interfering Fit Bit so much that we are now almost joined at the hip, or should I say wrist. Until next time. Keep dancing. Ellvie

The One That Got Away Ellvie’s Escapees - Teacher & Dancer for over 20 years, she shares her passion for line dancing and finds hidden gems long since forgotten or never discovered.
I have picked a dance that was released, not too long ago, in 2014. At the time it was very popular and in our dance class, very much a floor filler. However, it seems to have fallen through the net which is a shame because it is such a great dance. The dance I have chosen is 'Angel In Blue Jeans', a 64 count, 2 wall, intermediate level dance, choreographed by Alison Biggs and Peter Metelnick to the music 'Angel In Blue Jeans' by Train. To begin with, the music is great. Train are a fantastic band and this particular track is very catchy with a great beat to dance to. Very much one you can sing along to as well. The choreography fits beautifully to the music and although some parts are a little tricky, once you have mastered them it is all plain sailing.
I particularly love the right heel jack, diagonal rocking chair and left heel jack and also the left forward, syncopated 1/4 right Monterey, 1/2 Monterey, left forward shuffle, but then I am a big fan of syncopation. There is one restart on the first wall which comes easier once you are familiar with the music and there is also one tag. This is at the end of Wall 3 and is just a rock right recover, rock right back recover, so nothing too tricky there. It is a 64 count intermediate dance and is quite a 'busy' dance with a lot going on. Definitely one for dancers who love a 'meaty' dance but it is so worthwhile learning it and is a pleasure to dance. So come on teachers, get this out on the dance floor again and give your dancers a real treat.
As with all new ventures it is a case of trial and error and ironing out teething problems. We hope that our magazine will entertain you and help maintain your passion for line dancing. We would love to hear from you about your line dancing experiences. Tell us how you got started. How do your family and friends feel about your dancing or do they share it with you? Have you been on any dancing holidays and would like to share your memories and adventures? Have you any questions that other line dancers may be able to help with?
This magazine is for you so don’t be shy, we would love to hear from you.
