Personal Retreat Relaxing Space Residence

Site: Panaji ,Goa ,India.

CONTEXT:

The site is located away from the urban metropolitan area. Basically relaxing and quiet. It is a retreat space and the site has a water body and is lush green.

BRIEF:

The brief asks for design of a studio house for an individual pursuing a profession. The maximum built space allowed is 70sqm and should also cater to work requirements. The site as mentioned is present in the outskirts and all around lush green fields.

19 Studio House

CONCEPT:

With the site being located all around lush green fields, the basic idea has been to develop it according to its context.

1.Gaming Room containing the Dual Monitor Setup.

2.Outdoor Relaxation Area

3. All the other requirements in the brief.

GRUHAM Primary School

Sem-IV SPA Vijayawada

Site: Amaravathi , Andhra Pradesh, India.

CONTEXT:

The site is present in the to be developed capital, Amaravathi. Located near to a town and next to a highway, the school would serve as the first choice for the close-by neighborhood. The hot and humid climate poses a challenge to the designer.

BRIEF:

The objective of the brief was to design a school for the age groups 3-5, the nursery section, and 6-11, the primary section. Since it is one of the first physical environments away from home, the spaces created must be comfortable and be designed keeping the child’s psychology in mind.

23 Primary School
Education Comfort Second Home Informal Spaces

CONCEPT:

BETTER ADMINISTRATION:

In order to have better administration on the students , the campus is designed to be under a single roof with kindergarten on ground floor and primary on the first floor.

MUTUAL SHADING:

Ninches along the southwest facade aids in cutting out the harsh south sunlight.

DOUBLE ROOF:

The double roof helps in providing an insulation to the harsh climate outside.

IDEA OF PARTICIPATORY SPACES: These informal seating areas make the place lively and noisy, which is good.

STACK & CROSS VENTILATION:

In order to maintain the thermal comfort, these passive design strategies are crucial.

SEMI OPEN AREAS:

The whole building has many number of corridors and open spaces to give the feeling of an open environment.

CENTRAL FOCAL POINT:

Designed in such a way that the central yard would be the central focal point of the whole built space.

24 Primary School

The site is rectangular in shape and is flat land without any contours.

Zoning has been made with the play area and study area separated.

The play area and outdoor classroom are accommodated to the sides of Built Form.

The school has been placed to the rear end of the site so that noise wont affect the functioning of the school. The playground in front also acts as a multipurpose area to set up a stage during any event.

LEGEND:

Gruham, a kindergarten and primary school, would be the first place where the kids would step in after their homes.

The school being their second home should make them express and enjoy and hence the building is majorly open and has lot of participatory spaces.

The school being noisy and open wouldn’t give them the feeling of them being confined in between 4 walls
