DESIGN FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION
Ours is a design methodology for connecting lives, language, disciplines, places, missions and processes. It works on systems, not pieces, designing behavioral change rather than things or thinking.

We need to gather and share knowledge about what works to create the social change we seek. We need to integrate our efforts, whether our focus is on cities, education, health, business, conservation, economics, food, justice, art or government. We need a process to connect subject matter silos and to provide disparate experts with the language, methodology and tools to work together. And we need to make these efforts more effortless, by bringing joy, wonder and reward to the experience. We need MFA Design for Social Innovation at SVA. MFA

DESIGN FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION
Each has a deep commitment to social innovation, and the conviction that design is the integrating force that can create sustainable change. The curriculum balances theory with practicum: Students will work in teams with client partners, on real world problems, from the first year. Graduates will be prepared to play transformative roles in business and society, and will be skilled and experienced in doing so.
Our faculty are professionals – business executives, scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, grant makers, social activists, game technologists, designers.
