To register as a volunteer with the St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers must complete the following legal requirements:

A WA Police Check organised by the Society – All volunteers

A Working With Children Check - If volunteering includes working with children An insurance form to be covered for accidents whilst working for the Society – All Volunteers A valid drivers licence – If the individuals work includes driving the Society’s vehicles or transport of goods A positive and non-judgmental attitude

All St Vincent de Paul Society volunteers undergo a Society induction and program specific training prior to ‘employment’ and are covered by the relevant insurance.

Since 1865 in Western Australia through local parish based volunteer groups and Special Works, the St Vincent de Paul Society has sought to create a more just and compassionate society by responding directly to needs identified in the community.

The Society is made up of dedicated men and women of all backgrounds and ages who have a commitment to the mission of the Society and work together to assist people in need in the West Australian community.

Become a Volunteer Volunteering in any capacity is a wonderful way of dedicating time and energy to people in need. The St Vincent de Paul Society has a network of thousands of West Australians who volunteer their time every year, but as community needs increase, so does the need for more volunteers.

Whether it is to make friends, give back to the community, learn new skills, gain work skills, work experience and development or to grow spiritually – the St Vincent de Paul Society has volunteering placements for people of all ages and experience.

Gain experience working in retail sales and customer service in one of over forty Vinnies Centres throughout Western Australia. Open to all ages this is a wonderful opportunity to learn skills, gain experience and make friends whilst supporting the community.

Clothing and Furniture Depot Involves sorting clothing, bric-a-brac and books and emptying clothing bins. Truck Driver Offsiders assist in the collection of donated goods and distribution of goods for welfare support.

Vincentcare Opportunities to provide assistance with living skills, transport to appointments, companionship and mentoring through the Vincentcare Integration Program (V.I.P) Buddy Program and recreation activities including bike riding, walking, art, music and outings. There are also plenty of general volunteering opportunities at Vincentian Village – the facility designed to support men experiencing homelessness and/or mental illness.

Vinnies Youth Vinnies Youth volunteering opportunities include assisting with a variety of programs for disadvantaged children and teenagers that aim to encourage the development of basic life skills in a fun and safe environment. These include Camps run during school holiday periods, Buddy Days, Homework Centres that aim to provide disadvantaged children with a nutritious afternoon tea and tuition with their homework, and Juvenile Detention Centre visits that provide support to some of the most disadvantaged members of our youth community.

Refugee and Migrant Support Help provide household goods, furniture and emergency clothing to newly arrived refugees. Assist with travel arrangements for refugees required to meet their own cost of travel to Australia. Extend to newly arrived refugees a warm welcome to Australia through volunteering initiatives such as helping with transport, participating in “Welcome to Australia” Picnics, assisting with the provision of Christmas hampers and advocacy as the need arises.

Conferences Members of the community can become a Vincentian Member or an Auxiliary Member of a conference within the Society. Members perform Home Visitation and provide hope, comfort and dignity through the provision of emergency relief support and advocacy in response to calls for assistance from within the community.

Emergency Relief Call Centre Help respond to calls for assistance from the community through the Metropolitan Call Centre.

The Centre operates from 9am – 1pm Monday to Friday. The Call Centre operating hours can vary in Regional Areas.
