CEOs pass the $1 million mark …. With just over one week to go until the Vinnies 2010 CEO Sleepout almost 600 business leaders have already reached the event target of $1 million. “This is an extraordinary result,” the CEO St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, John Picot said today. What it says is that Australia’s CEOs are determined to do all they can to make a real and tangible difference to the issue of homelessness in this country.” The event calls on CEOs to raise awareness about the issue of homelessness while raising funds for Vinnies homeless services and will be held in all mainland capital cities next Thursday, June 17. In Sydney, where the event will be held at Luna Park, 167 CEOs have so far raised more than $420,000 The CEOs will sleep out in the cold on sheets of cardboard on one of the coldest nights of the year. “The fact that such a diverse range of business leaders is prepared to take time out to endure this single night of hardship is incredibly encouraging, and indicates a strong Australian corporate culture of social justice” Mr Picot said.
