About the Service
Mary MacKillop Outreach (MMO) is a St Vincent de Paul Society’s service offering prevocational skills training, recreational and educational programs for people living with a mental illness and/or disability, many of whom reside in licensed boarding houses and group homes in Sydney’s Inner-West. The volunteer will assist our clients at the men-shed project with woodwork, craft, upholstery and basic use of the ordinary handy man tools i.e. saw, hammer, scissors, lever etc
Primary position objective
Since Mary MacKillop Outreach assists people with disability, it is essential that the successful volunteer is able and willing to work with people with a disability. Experience working with people with a disability is not essential as volunteer support and training is available. However, the successful volunteer will have basic knowledge in manual arts, including standard handyman skills.
Day/Time required
The men shed operates Monday – Wednesday, 9.30AM – 2.30PM The volunteer can assist during any of these days but minimum commitment is 3 months.
