Joseph lives and breathes digital. His background in User Centered Design and usability as an Industrial Designer combined with a cross over to digital in 2001 put him on the front line when the web became user focused and User Experience came into being. Today with the advent of mobile web these expertise are more prevalent than ever.

Danny’s extraordinarily diverse resume includes User Experience Designer for an award winning app development company, seven years as Creative Director of a boutique design agency and major role redesigning the National Newspaper of Samoa. Seriously, who else can make that claim?

Joseph previously worked as a Designer, Project Manager and Creative Director for a number of boutique digital agencies both locally and in the UK and as a Producer at Kojo Digital. Joseph has an honours degree in Industrial Design from the University of South Australia.

Having gained deep insight into the digital realm through his varied work history, Danny specialises in how a brand’s communication can make the transition from print to digital and how to leverage one from the other. Danny holds a bachelor degree of Visual Communications from the University of South Australia.

We designed, built and implemented an innovative eLearning system that was adopted quickly and has proven to effectively deliver the courseware to Bing Boy staff and franchisees.

of the fastest growing street-food franchises in Australia to provide a cost-effective, accessible system for training both staff and franchisees online. The first challenge was to take courseware that had previously been delivered in person by various trainers - including theoretical and practical teaching methods - and distill this content into a cohesive experience that crossed cultural boundaries. The experience also needed to work on desktop computers as well as tablet devices, not just technically but from an instructional design perspective.

As a requirement was that the system needed to work on tablets, the ubiquitous Adobe Flash based eLearning system wasn’t going to cut it, so we reinvented the eLearning environment using the latest HTML5 and CSS3 techniques. We also tailored the experience for desktop and tablet users as studies have proven people learn differently depending on the environment they complete the learning in. Working with instructional designers, we ensured the content was easily digestible for a broad range of English abilities and that it worked harmoniously with the delivery methods we’d created. Also built into the system is intelligent reporting and data analysis as well as notification support for Bing Boy staff and students.

13 University of Adelaide Native iPhone & iPad Application

Challenge.

The University of Adelaide approached

Their target audience were school leavers that regularly used and interacted with their smartphones and tablets. We identified that through gameification we could reach these potential students.

us to design and develop an iPhone and iPad app that showcases their science divisions leading up to and during the annual Open Day event. The university was also after something that can engage the potential students using their recent re-brand, the 10 big questions, as well as something that portrayed the breadth of their course offerings.

We created a native quiz app that was available for download through the app store for both iPhone and iPad. The quiz was formed around 10 Big Questions in science that directly talked to the different areas of study available in the universities science departments. The app was a success and even today, long after the Open Day brochures are lost or forgotten, the app continues to get downloads from around the world. Identifying and implementing the digital delivery of the course information in an engaging way has enabled the marketing reach to be much more than just the students who happened to visit the booth on the day.

We started from the ground up, analysing and collating the site content to form a journey rather than the standard dropdown navigation regularly found in websites of this nature. We then created a user flow based around discovery, increasing visitor time on the site and customer engagement. The result is an experience that is akin to wandering the streets of this new and exciting development.

their web presence didn’t reflect the high-end nature of the housing development or appeal to their target customers. There was also the issue that there was a large amount of content required to be included however the design needed to be clean, modern as well as intuitive.

Building a community is important to Lightsview so we created a Community Hub on the website with a noticeboard and community centric messaging which can grow with this flourishing suburb.
