FANNY AND ALEXANDER
Fanny och Alexander – 1982 – 189’ (Feature) or 314’ (TV Series) Oscar ® awarded for Best Art DirectionSet Decoration, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Foreign Language Film and nominated for Best Director Ingmar Bergman Directed by: Ingmar Bergman Starring: Kristina Adolphson, Ewa Fröling, Jan Malmsjö, Börje Ahlstedt, Pernilla Allwin, Kristian Almgren ”Fanny and Alexander” is Bergman’s dreamlike family chronicle. The Ekdahls are an upper-middleclass theatrical family sheltered by their own theatrics from the deepening chaos of the outside world. One tumultuous year in the life of the Ekdahl family is viewed through the eyes of ten-year-old Alexander, whose imagination fuels the magical goings-on leading up to and following the death of his father. His mother’s remarriage to a stern prelate banishes Alexander and his sister Fanny from all known joys, and thrusts them and the movie into a kind of gothic horror. The bishop is a Bergmanesque character whose severity has gone awry - he has become sinister - and the film’s round rejection of him in favour of ”kindness, affection and goodness” may be Bergman’s fondest farewell to cinema.

”Images from the Playground” is the first of two films – written and directed by Stig Björkman – that combine Ingmar Bergman’s behind-thescenes footage with voice recordings of Bergman, newly recorded interviews with actors Harriet Andersson and Bibi Andersson, and a special introduction by Martin Scorsese. In the early fifties, Ingmar Bergman got himself a cine camera, a 9.5 mm Bell & Howell, which he often used both privately and in his work. These images from the director’s grown-up playground are accompanied by Bergman’s own commentaries from various interviews. While actresses Harriet Andersson and Bibi Andersson – exposed to Bergman’s loving eye in these lavish documentary sequences – also contribute with vivid personal accounts. The behind-the-scenes material has been registered with UNESCO’s Memory of the World since 2007.

…Men filmen är min älskarinna – 2010 – 66’ Directed by: Stig Björkman Starring: Liv Ullman, Woody Allen, Olivier Assayas, Bernardo Bertolucci, Arnaud Desplechin, John Sayles, Martin Scorsese, Lars von Trier ”But Film is My Mistress” is the second of two films - written and directed by Stig Björkman. The film is an attempt to capture Ingmar Bergman’s extraordinary filmmaker persona based on behind-the scenes footage from eight movies, from “Persona” in 1965 to “Saraband” in 2003. Guided by Liv Ullmann and with commentaries from a number of prominent filmmakers for whom Bergman is and remains an important influence, the film provides a vivid portrait of the artist who in each new project found a challenge for himself and for the people he worked with – both actors and colleagues behind the camera.
“Fårö document 1979” is Ingmar Bergman’s moving tribute to the enduring spirit of the people of Fårö, an isolated rural island in the Baltic. The documentary reflects the director’s forty-year love affair with Fårö, the setting of his 1961 masterpiece “Through a Glass Darkly”. Vividly evoking the desolate landscape and resilient inhabitants of Fårö, the film is a passionate record of a way of life increasingly threatened by modern, technocratic society.
