One of the diseases most known today is Obesity. Obesity can be defined as being overweight or having too much body fat. Obesity can be a main cause from lack of exercise and unhealthy eating habits. In America, people are often influence by bad food choices. Fast food restraints can be put in the category of unhealthy eating. If a person is running late for dinner or forgot to pack a lunch, they tend to go to a fast food restaurant. Soon this can become a habit and people find themselves eating fast food everyday. Another factor of obesity is lack of exercise. Instead of using the stairs, people take an escalator or elevator. Little things, such as walking, can be detrimental to the health of society because it has become harder. Being less active can and has changed many lives around the world today.

The most common symptom of Obesity is diabetes. Diabetes is when a persons contains a high

level of sugar in the blood.

How is Obesity Diagnosed? Obesity can be diagnosed by checking a person’s Body Mass Index, also known as BMI. If a person is obese, their BMI is 25 km/m^2 or greater. It has been said that 1in 2 adults are overweight or obese.

This is the BMI for girls and boys from ages 5-20.

Can We Treat Obesity? “There are over 1.4 billion overweight adults and about 500 million obese adults worldwide. And these numbers are expected to rise.” -World Health Organization (WHO)

Preventing Obesity is not difficult. The main cause for Obesity is lack of exercise and bad eating habits. In order to treat obesity, one can change some live style choices. For example, eating healthier foods cannot only keep you away from the risk obesity, but make you feel and look healthier.

Another example of changing your lifestyle can include exercise. Physical activity should be part of a person’s everyday life. Small things, such as walking or climbing the stairs, can count as physical activity. These lifestyle changes can show great results when confronting weight or health.

Statistics Statistics have shown that over the past 3 decades, adults' BMI of higher than 25 have increased more than 25%. Also, results have shown that 17% of children from the ages 219 are obese.

Ways To Stay Healthy Many ways to stay healthy is to eat the required amounts of fruits, vegetables, meats, vitamins, and more for each day.

Exercise is also a great way to stay healthy. Some may not consider this, but keeping a clean environment can also contribute to staying healthy.

Foods To Stay Away From Limit the amount of soft drinks and sugars you eat. Not only do they prevent an overload of weight, but can also be healthy for your skin. Sometimes, too much sugar can cause puffiness in the face and blemishes on the face. Fried foods are also a type of food people should be wary of.

Not all fried foods are good for people. Matter of fact, no fried food is good for you.

Food is a priority when concerning your health.

Keep a good distance from processed foods. If you cannot pronounce the ingredients on the food packaging, do not eat it. Most of the foods that are processed contain ingredients that are not good for your health.
