Cystic fibrosis is a very serious disease. This disease is deadly. CF has no cure yet nut scientist are working vigorously to find a cure .

Symptoms There are many symptoms to cystic Fibrosis that affect the lungs and bowel functions. Symptoms for the lungs includes:
Coughing
Increased amount of mucus
Fatigue
Nasal congestion
Reoccurring pneumonia
Symptoms that affect bowel movements are:
Stomach pains
Increased gas and bloating
Nausea
Appetite loss
Weight loss
Diagnosis There are many Immunoreactive ways to detect Cystic trypsinogen test Fibrosis. There are (IRT) blood test that can Sweat Chlorine tell whether a pertest son is infected or IRT is a standard not. There are two test for newborns. A major test that are high level in IRT in used the most: an infant requires further testing. The sweat chlorine test
is the standard test used for diagnosis of CF. This test is used to test for the salt levels in the blood.

Treatment There are different treatments for different complications with CF. For lung problems, some of the treatments are:
Antibiotics
Inhaled medications
DNAse enzyme therapy
Concentrations high in salt
Flu and PPV vaccines
Lung transplant
Oxygen therapy
The treatments for bowel symptoms are:
Diet high in protein and
calories
Injections of pancreatic enzymes
Vitamin supplements
These are some of the medical treatments for Cystic Fibrosis.
Statistics In the U.S. there are about 500 people that die each year from Cystic fibrosis. Most people with this severe disease only live until about age 31. CF is the most common inherited disease in whites in the U.S. For every 3,200 births in the U.S. one of these has CF. In AfricanAmericans, one in every
15,000 inherits this disease. There are about 1,000 new cases on CF diagnosed each year.

CF is a genetic disorder and can only be inherited.
CF causes mucus to become abnormally thick and sticky causing lung complications.
There is no cure to CF, but scientist are working vigorously to find a cure.
To inherit CF, a person must get two recessive genes.
