How to Identify if Your Child Has A child with down syndrome will usually be diagnosed during pregnancy by a doctor. This is due to the syndrome being a birth defect and not something someone can just catch outside like the common cold or the flu. The doctor can look at the chromosomes in the child and tell whether the 21’s spot has the normal amount of chromosomes, which is 2 if you didn’t know, or if the child has 3 chromosomes which is the initial sign of down syndrome.

How to Help a Child with Down Syndrome There is only one type of Down Syndrome, so helping a child with this disfiguration is universal. Make sure they don’t have any serious heart issues that could be fatal. Make sure they are eating healthy due to obesity causing many problems in their lives. Behavioral training could help a person and their family cope with the defect. Making the people understand the risks of harmful activity such as drugs, pregnancy, violence, etc. is extremely important.
