From the start, SWABACK set out to establish an organization of sufficient depth to undertake very special projects and develop extraordinary design. SWABACK has participated as architect and designer for hospitality projects across the US and internationally. Exclusive resor t clubs on the Baja peninsula from Cabo San Lucas to Puerto Penasco; Private clubs in alpine climates of L ake Tahoe and Castle Pines, Colorado; and a wide variety of large and small, resort, public, semiprivate and private clubs in Arizona, on Indian Nations and throughout the Southwest. This broad experience offers a unique understanding of varying design processes, demographics and design character appropriate to the region. Since its inception in 1978, SWABACK has developed a cor porate cultural and respected design portfolio based strongly in sustainable building practices. Growing recognition and appreciation for this design approach has been applied to all of SWABACK’S designs, including public and private clubs, resorts, resort residential developments, hotels, restaurants and spas.

HYATT AT GAINEY RANCH Scottsdale, Arizona SWABACK took advantage of the existing character and topography of the Hyatt Regency Resort while creating a dramatic experience. Building a relatively simple structure with sound walls and dense landscaping contribute more to the exterior character than the building itself. Bringing light into the treatment rooms, workout areas and soaring public spaces of black granite, earth slate and solid cherry hardwood.

ARIZONA GRAND GOLF RESORT & SPA Phoenix, Arizona Arizona Grand Resort & Spa puts you in the midst of one of Phoenix, Arizona’s most naturally beautiful places. The region’s only AAA Four-Diamond, all-suite hotel is ideally situated on the doorstep of 17,000 acres of South Mountain Preserve, the largest municipal park in the world and the most visited hiking destination in the state.

ASCAYA CLUBHOUSE Henderson, Nevada The 22,000-square-foot clubhouse includes a resort-style pool, large pool with: separate lap-swimming area; Jacuzzi, poolside cabanas and event lawn; shaded entry courtyard with water features and artwork; entry with concierge desk; main gathering room with bar, fireplace and seating areas; shaded outdoor living room with fire elements; and dramatic views of the Las Vegas Strip.

BIGHORN GOLF CLUBHOUSE Palm Desert, California The desert contemporary BIGHORN Clubhouse employs a breathtaking use of space and light to blend timeless style with new state-of-the-art amenities. Set strategically on the site of the former Clubhouse, the Clubhouse was positioned to deftly incorporate all of the surrounding vistas and offer a “life after golf ” component.

THE INN AT SENTRYWORLD Stevens Point, Wisconsin The Inn at SentryWorld is a boutique hotel sitting just off the championship golf course’s 18th fairway—providing beautiful views of the course. Plus, the hotel features spacious suites and intimate gathering spaces, ideal for weddings and corporate retreats.

MUSEUM SQUARE HOTEL & RESIDENTIAL TOWERS Scottsdale, Arizona Envisioned as a highly creative mixed-use development project that will strengthen the identity and brand of Scottsdale’s culture and arts scene. The anchor to this new development will be “The Museum Square Hotel” - a signature 4-star hotel. Carefully positioned this new luxury hotel will celebrate and provide opportunities to reinforce special events, programs, exhibits, and gallery tours.

SCOTTSDALE NATIONAL GOLF CLUBHOUSE Scottsdale, Arizona A one-of-a-kind exclusive Clubhouse is truly a national club that offers the most incredible clubhouse and golf experience one could ﬁnd. The expanded clubhouse added spans of glass window walls and deep overhangs of shallow rooflines for a progressive influence that take advantage of the views and opportunities for outdoor dining and entertaining, as well as luxurious casitas and other facilities. The golf course renovations included redesigning two of the last four holes and adding 27 holes, including a nine-hole par-3 course.

HYATT PINON POINTE Sedona, Arizona

ARIZONA BILTMORE Phoenix, Arizona SWABACK was selected as both the planner and architect for the hotels new wing, swimming pool and Cabana area. SWABACK was subsequently retained for a variety of planning and architectural assignments. In addition to its custom residences, the firm replaced, rezoned and designed the entire complex of the Hotel-related Villas.

PARADISE VALLEY GOLF COUNTRY CLUB Paradise Valley, Arizona The 60,000 sq. ft. Country Club features a 350-seat banquet room, a library, a lounge/bar and mixed grille, 1,500 sq. ft. pro shop and locker room facilities to accommodate up to 750 guests.

THE LODGE AT MARTIS CAMP Truckee, California This Silver LEED rated facility is a unique community recreation building in a master planned community adjacent to Lake Tahoe, California. It expands the offering of amenities to this community and acts as the focal gathering place for all age groups. It was awarded the Grand Gold Nugget Award for the best community center design by the PCBC. It was also awarded the Community Center of the Year by the Contractors Association of Tahoe.

NICKLAUS PAINTED VALLEY CLUBHOUSE AT PROMONTORY Park City, Utah The 17,000 sf contemporary Nicklaus Clubhouse at Promontory serves to bring the outdoor environment inside by utilizing the terrain’s low-sloping glacial moraines and glass throughout the design. The clubhouse complements the site by not dominating the topography, but rises up out of it. It also takes full advantage of the vistas looking both south and west across the back nine of the Nicklaus course.

THE SHED AT PROMONTORY Park City, Utah “The Shed” Clubhouse, is an architectural gem that is a fun-filled center of activity, featuring 16,000+ square feet of contemporary interpretation of an old mining shed, with the design guided by the use of rugged, timeless materials; and a color palette that connects the building with its surroundings.

TAHOE BEACH CLUB Stateline, California Tahoe Beach Club (TBC) is an amenity clubhouse to a three-phase residential condo development. The club offers a 5-star 2,200 sq. ft hospitality suite for private events or overnight rentals. The hospitality suite can sleep ten guests in the two master ensuites and bunk room.

FOREST HIGHLANDS CANYON & MEADOWS GOLF CLUBHOUSES Flagstaff, Arizona The renovation and expansion for both Clubhouses offered a great opportunity to update the facilities, and to continue evolving the community’s lifestyle to be enjoyed not only for Golf, but for Life aprés Golf. The completed collection enhanced the Meadow and Canyon Clubhouses into true community gathering places for every member of the Forest Highlands Club.

TALKING ROCK RANCH Prescott, Arizona The private club includes several buildings adjoined by breezeways, porches, patios and indoor/outdoor fireplaces allowing for friendly gatherings. The space provides ample options for any taste including a private dining hall, course-side grill, coffee shop, bar and grill, covered outdoor dining, a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, regulation-sized lap pool, tennis courts, golf pro shop, spa suites and upscale locker rooms.

IRON HORSE HOTEL Scottsdale, Arizona

THE AMERICAN CLUB RESORT HOTEL Kohler, Wisconsin Built in 1918 as a dormitory for single, male immigrant employees of Kohler, The American Club was reborn in 1981 as a five-star, five-diamond destination resort hotel. It retained its historic richness, storybook charm and a single level of quality that comes with everything bearing the Kohler name.
