Gulf of Cambay in Gujarat, Western India. Both terminals, at Gogha and Dahej, are currently being constructed by the GMB. The ferry service is to be run by private operators.

The Gujarat Maritime Board The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) is the wing of the Government of Gujarat charged with responsibility for maritime matters in the state.
The GMB has embarked on a strategic and pioneering initiative, to commission a RoRo Ferry Service in the Gulf of Cambay between Gogha and Dahej.

Beckett Rankine Beckett Rankine are Marine Consulting Engineers with a history of work in India stretching back to the 1880s, including Port of Bhavnagar & Marine Oil Terminal in Mumbai We have planned one of the world’s largest ports at Ras Laffan in Qatar and many RoRo ferry terminals in Europe. Beckett Rankine has been working with the GMB since 1997 in order to make this project a reality.

The Ferry Service The ferry service has been conceived to provide a faster convenient and competitively priced means of transport between the communities of Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The principal focus of attention is on a RoRo ferry service for vehicles of all types, but especially trucks and cars. Passengers will be carried on either RoRo vessels or dedicated passenger ferries.

Hinterland Definition - 1 Route Survey – Existing Connectivity Traffic movement between South Gujarat and Saurashtra happens largely through Vataman • There are three commonly used roads connecting Bharuch and Vataman i. via Vasad ii. via Vadodara iii. via Jambusar • But, route via Jambusar is the most preferred and economical route and hence considered for detailed cost analysis Gogha Dahej

Challenges â&#x20AC;&#x201C; The Sea State The Gulf of Cambay is a large expanse of sea with coastal conditions varying considerably around the gulf.
In the upper gulf, around Dahej and to the west, the tidal range tends to be larger with strong currents, although the sea is somewhat protected and the waves are lower. In the lower gulf, around Surat and to the east, the tidal range and currents are smaller, but the sea is rougher.
