India -- a multi-religious society based on mutual respect for all… HAS AMPLE SPACE AND SAFEGUARDS FOR ALL INCLUDING THE MINORITIES BUT DOESN’T ALLOW CREATION OF A NATION WITHIN A NATION IN THE NAME OF MINORITISM. Replies to 6 questions posed by Kanpur clerics to RSS February 19, 2015 http://deshgujarat.com/2015/02/19/uday-mahurkar-replies-to-6-questions-posed-by-kanpur-clerics-to-rss/ Uday Mahurkar is a senior journalist committed to unalloyed nationalism, thinker and author who believes in a multi-religious society based on mutual respect for all — a society that has ample space and safeguards for all including the minorities but doesn’t allow creation of a nation within a nation in the name of Minoritism. Below are Uday Mahurkar’s replies in his capacity as patriotic Indian wedded to unalloyed nationalism to six questions posed on February 17 , 2015, by a group of Muslim clerics of Kanpur to RSS leader Shri Indresh Sharma. It will make interesting reading for students of this subject: 1 Question : Does RSS considers India a Hindu country ? Answer : India is already Hindu country by ethos. None can deny it. Hindu ethos means mutual respect for all religions. But Muslim shouldn’t ask this question in the light of recent History. India was partitioned in 1947 on the basis of religion on the demand of a section of Muslims. Pakistan chose Islam while India chose to be multi-religious democracy. After partition Hindus were ethnically cleansed from Pakistan virtually at the point of sword with the result that their population is negligible today in Pakistan. In comparison Muslim population has increased in India. If at all Indian Muslim care for humanity than they should fight for the rights of Pakistani Hindus , the worst victims of partition. Q 2 : Have RSS prepared a format to turn India into a HIndu Rashtra ? Answer : Hindu Rashtra , according to Veer Savarkar who first wrote the Hindu Rashtra manifesto, means equal treatment for all religions but no room for creating a nation within a nation in the name of minoritism. Right now Indian polity is minority-Centric at the cost of the rights of majority. End of Minoritism itself means equal treatment for all and therefore a Hindu Rashtra. Such a polity will be good for Muslims too because it will end the hatred of a section of Hindus for a section of Muslims. 1
Q. 3 Will this Hindu Rashtra be according to Hindu religious texts or RSS has chalked out a new Philosophy ? Answer : My reply to the earlier question answers this question. But you should be aware no Hindu text discriminates on the basis of religion unlike the texts of Semitic religions. Hindus believe there can be more than one way of reaching out to the God. Q. 4 What RSS wants on religious conversion ? Answer : RSS would want those Hindus who have embraced other religions under pressure or due to inducements to come back to the Hindu fold but willingly. and by persuasion , not by coercion. Plus, preachers of religious minorities should stop converting innocent Hindus through questionable means of which there is tell-tale evidence. Demand for reservation for Dalit Christians is typical of minoritism. Such demands should not be raised. Q.5 What type of Rashtra Prem ( love for nation ) does RSS want from Muslims. Answer : Muslims should realise that they have progressed in India after partition which is not the case with the Hindus of Pakistan despite the fact that Pakistan was demanded by a section of Indian Muslims. In fact the Muslim scholar and Jamat E Islami founder Maulana Maududi said in an interview after partition that he would have no objection to Hindus treating Indian Muslims as untouchables in India as the Muslims of the continent had got Pakistan. However, magnanimous Hindus never exercised such an option. We want Muslims to put nation before their religion and not demand special privileges so that they integrate with the society. They should also wholehearted join the nation in the fight against Jehadi terrorism ( we appreciate many of them are doing so ). If they do the above things they would have demonstrated their Rashtra Prem. Q. 6 How RSS views Islam as a religion? Answer: There are certain parts of Islam which are perceived to be offensive to other religions according to a sanction of religious scholars. But we also believe that a majority of Indian Muslims understand that those parts were meant for a certain period and are impractical for the new world. The popular notion called ‘Jehadi terrorism’ is rooted in this perception of Islam. This controversial part in perception being followed by some is reflective in the ideology of Islamic terrorism. But as the Kurds and Jordanians fighting the dreaded ISIS in Iraq prove the Muslim majority still rejects this part.
