Sevya -- Products of Indian Artisans ‘Sevya’ means “that which needs caring.” ‘Sevya’ stands for the preservation of indigenous art forms of India that are endangered by supporting rural and tribal artisans, reviving extinct art forms, and showcasing the products in the global arena. A brainchild of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, renowned teacher of Vedanta and the founder of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Saylorsburg, PA, ‘Sevya’ is not just another avenue for marketing Indian handicrafts. It is a vision of service through mindful and conscious consumption, through caring for the environment and humanity at large. Part of the revenue earned through the sale of these handicrafts is used to fund development programs throughout India. All ‘Sevya’ products are hand-crafted by artisans in India using the finest natural materials, dyes and fibers. Hand-spun and hand-woven cotton and silk are used for Sevya clothing, accessories and home furnishings. ‘Sevya’ offers an extensive range of “ahimsa” silk such as scarves, stoles, shawls and throws. ‘Sevya’ stationary is made from 100% recycled paper. ‘Sevya’ has greeting cards, book marks and decorations made from palm leaves.
