VHP SENT LETTER TO PM AGAINST BEEF EXPORT New Delhi Feb 17, 2012. Annoyed by the union agriculture ministry’s proposal to planning commission to lift ban on beef export, Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) sent a letter to the prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh seeking immediate rejection of the recommendations made therein. The letter signed by the senior adviser shri Ashok Singhal, vice president shri Omprakash Singhal & the int’l secretary general of the organization shri Champat Rai has also been sent to the deputy chairman of the planning commission shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia. Terming the recommendation shameless, mindless, audacious & sad, VHP wrote that it is a hostility perpetrated against the Dharmic, spiritual, holistic, altruistic and syncretic worldview of the country. It is to note that the GOI Working Group on Animal Husbandry & Dairying for 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) has submitted a report to the Planning Commission, Government of India. The Report, audaciously asking for permission, reads: “There is an existing Ban on beef exports; therefore it is necessary to revise the EXIM policy to allow beef export…” vide Paragraph 12.3.1 under Chapter 12 Meat and Abattoirs. According to shri Vinod Bansal, the media chief of VHP Delhi we have reminded the PM an the deputy chairman-Planning Commission that A cow’s person is revered as hosting millions of deities. Elaborating the importance of Cow and its progeny for the causes of both Green and White Revolution, VHP said that the Mother Cow is a complete ecology that holds in the heart and ethos of Hindustan. Our history is full of sacrifices made by people, saints & sages for its protection, preservation and promotion. The good of “Gow, Garib and Dharma” has also been the triple agenda of the entire Sikh history, especially the Khalsa history led by Guru Gobind Singhji Maharaj. Giving reference of the DIRECTIVE PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY under ARTICLE 48 of the constitution VHP said that it is the duty of the state to “…take steps for preserving and improving the breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter, of cows and calves and other milch and draught cattle.” VHP also referred article 48A & 51A of the constitution alongwith supreme court decision dated 26.10.2005 in Civil Appeals No. 4937-4940 of 1998 State of Gujrat & other Vs Mirzapur Moti Kureshi Kassab Jamat & others in this regard. Even some Mughal rulers made cow slaughter a punishable offence and many Sant-Mahatmas and Gobhaktas (Cow Devotees) have sacrificed their lives for the cause of cow protection, the letter added. Hindus lead by Saints may come on the roads if the Govt do not forthwith withdraw the recommendations, VHP said. Regards
