Mrs Mavis Cleaver surveys the beginnings of the new village with a resident-to-be, 1961

From humble beginnings back in 1960, Mavis together with her late husband Dr Richard Cleaver, set about on the creation of a long term vision to create suitable and practical accommodation for aged persons. Their aim at that time was to create an environment that was safe, affordable and would foster a community spirit of togetherness, respect and caring. This was the birth of what was then known as Swan Cottage Homes. More than 50 years on, and that same vision still holds true today, with Community spirit, caring and respect the cornerstone of our organisation’s culture and values. On behalf of the SwanCare Community we are indeed indebted and forever grateful to you and your late husband’s visionary foresight, dedication and commitment. The foundation that you and your family created not only has stood the test of time, but has enabled SwanCare to develop and grow into one of Western Australia’s premier integrated retirement and aged care facilities. Thank you Mavis, and congratulations on your 100 wonderful years. Julian Keys Chairman, SwanCare
