MAHJONG CLUB Never played it?? Then “give it a go”! It’s fascinating, fun & friendly.

New players are always welcome. Don’t worry if you’ve never played before. Come along for an enjoyable, social evening. Please be there by 6.00pm.

All new and old residents are welcome to join us for a cuppa and chat. We meet to enjoy doing our own craft or working towards making goods for our stalls. These funds go towards raising money for extras not in the budget and for the comfort of residents in our three care facilities. Our next stall is in November.

Any new residents who may like to bowl out of the weather are most welcome to join us.

All are working very hard practicing our singing and learning to sing together. I think the Choir is at full capacity now, although we can always use more tenors. Remembering the words to the songs is quite difficult but we are all managing quite well. Everyone is enjoying singing in our new venue the Auditorium with many thanks to Laurie Hudson.

LADIES OF THE NIGHT PATCHWORK GROUP

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB For those of you who are interested in improving your photography skills, or just asking questions this is a unique opportunity. The invitation is to all residents at both SwanCare and Rowethorpe. Recently several of those attending, raised questions about the easiest way to transfer their images from a mobile phone, tablets, or iPad to a computer.

VILLAGE RESIDENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL Next Residents Coffee Meeting:

Our first concert in the Auditorium was a huge success. Everyone was happy with the layout of the tables and the extra room was very welcome. The larger kitchen was also appreciated by the committee. Our thanks goes to Karen and Maintenance for their assistance in making our move as easy as possible. Our next concert is on Friday 7th September. We will be celebrating Fathers Day and our entertainers will be Blue Diamond. Come along and spend an enjoyable few hours at this very popular event socialising with friends and neighbours. We apologise but due to the popularity of this event it is limited to residents only.

SWAN VILLAGE BOWLING CLUB Upcoming dates to lock in for this month. Thursday 13th September is the club’s Annual General Meeting in the Leisure Centre at 9am. Wednesday 19th September is the Patron’s Shield. The nomination sheet is on the noticeboard. All residents are welcome to join us.

FRIDAY NIGHT FLICKS On the second Friday of every month one of the great musicals of the 20th century will be shown in the Auditorium. The SwanCare bus will begin its pickups at 6pm, and will take you home at the end of the evening. There will be a short refreshment break during the movie, which runs for 128 minutes. The movies to be shown have been obtained from legitimate sources and all necessary licences have been obtained. Thanks are due to Roadshow for permission to show these movies. No need to book in advance; just turn up on the night. Feel free to invite your friends from outside the village.
