SWAN VILLAGE BOWLING CLUB Thursday 4th of July is our Christmas in July luncheon at Yanchep. Remember to bring your seniors card to get concession entry to the park. Bus pickup will be from 10.30am to leave by 10.45am. We are still bowling on Monday and Saturday mornings at 9.00am, as well as Wednesday afternoons at 1.00pm with happy hour at the conclusion of bowls. For those members who do not get around the village very often, the new community centre has started construction. This building is our new home. Our annual AGM is scheduled for Thursday 12th September, so mark it on your calendar. Watch our noticeboard for more details.

SUNSET WALKERS

Despite the cold and wet weather, good crowds continue to attend the Flicks. The future program includes the Australian classic Strictly Ballroom; By Jeeves, a fun Andrew Lloyd Webber adaptation of the books of P.G. Wodehouse; and South Pacific, another of the wonderful Rodgers & Hammerstein hits. Our patrons in September will be invited to help us set the program for 2020. They will be able to choose their three favourites in a poll of 24 DVDs available to us. Don’t forget that the Swancare bus begins its run at 6 pm for free transport to the Auditorium, and home again afterwards. Movies begin promptly at 6.30 pm, and there is a refreshment break.

HEART FOUNDATION WALKING GROUP Residents of Rowethorpe and Bentley Park are welcome to join us for a 30 minute walk. We start at 7.30am every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. The walks are free to join and are followed by tea and coffee and a chat. A great way to make new friends! By keeping active and taking regular exercise you can: • Improve fitness • Strengthen bones • Lose excess weight • Boost muscle power • Improve blood sugar control. Walk at your own pace. Some stride it out while others go along at a more leisurely pace or use walking frames.

The WA Dinner held on June 3 was a wonderful community event attended by 120 guests and residents. The State Government was represented by Ben Wyatt MLA accompanied by his daughter Matilda. Professor Robyn Watts AM represented the SwanCare Board and Garry Black who also attended, is the Chief Financial Officer of SwanCare. In keeping with tradition, the National and State Flags were presented by six former members of the Girl Guides’ Association. Two Australian songs sung by the SwanCare Allsorts Choir and John Perry and Leslie Dale kept the diners entertained. It really was a great night! Sunday Concert: Circle of Trust

SWANCARE ALLSORTS CHOIR

Any new residents who may like to bowl out of the weather are most welcome to join us.

The anticipated Allsorts Choir concert took place on Sunday June 16 in the Auditorium. 110 people enjoyed the 20 songs sung beautifully by the choir. The songs represented several countries and the audience joined in with enthusiasm, which greatly pleased the choir and their conductor Harry Williams.

BOOK CLUB

Sinead McCartan sang two beautiful solos which were greeted with great applause. The choir, who are usually accompanied by Laurie Hudson, acknowledged Margaret Jarvis who stood in when Laurie was unable to play at the extra practices.

A book club has been established within the Village and we would welcome new members. Lively discussions are guaranteed.

A break was taken during the concert when a delicious afternoon tea, prepared by the Social Club Committee, was served and very much enjoyed by everyone.

SNOOKER PLAYERS ASSOCIATION COMPUTER CLUB Situated in an air-conditioned room our volunteer staff are there to help our members with any computer problems. We have now converted three computers to Windows 10, join us to get answers on any questions you have on Windows 10, or anything relating to computers, printers or internet. We cater for sight impaired members and have special adapted keyboards for their use, our facilitators are trained to assist, call in to check us out.

LINE DANCING It was lovely to celebrate Peter and Shirley’s 65th. Wedding Anniversary at Line Dancing. The library offers a wide selection of books including large print and audio books. DVDs and jigsaws also available.
