Friday Night Flicks will move to a new permanent

We kick start off the New Year by celebrating Valentine’s Day. The Entertainer is the delightful Moira of Blue Diamond.

The January dance was a huge success with a record number of people attending. Sincere thanks to Pam who leads the line dancing and to Bev and Pat and many helpers who make the evening possible.

home from February in the Swan Centre. We have ironed out the technical hiccups and are looking forward to a great year of movies. This month’s offering is The Sapphires, starring Deborah Mailman, Jessica Mauboy, Shari Sebbens, Miranda Tapsell, and Chris O’Dowd. It’s 1968 and four young talented Australian girls learn about love, friendship, and war, when their allgirl group The Sapphires entertain the US troops in Vietnam. Screening begins at 6.30pm and there will be a refreshment break. Please bring your own mug! Transport from the south side of the Village will be provided. All Covid-19 requirements will be met.

All residents and especially new residents are most welcome to join us at our monthly luncheons. We are a happy bunch, and you will meet new friends. Raffle tickets are on sale and prizes to be won. Due to social distancing, seating is limited. Bookings must be made. When: Friday 4th February 2022 Doors open 10:30am. Where: Auditorium, Admin Building Contact: Lesley on 6250 0590. Including drinks, nibbles, fish & chips served with a fresh garden salad, an hour of entertainment, followed by afternoon tea.

The SwanCare bus will be running from 6.00pm and after the movie. All Bentley Park residents and their friends are invited to these screenings. Swan Village Bowling Club As daily temperatures remain high and some of our members are still away on holiday, the last couple of weeks has seen a slight reduction in attendance. There will be no Gala Days or club outings in February, but there will be one club tournament and lunch outing in March; keep an eye on the club noticeboard for details. All members planning to attend outings and Gala Days are reminded of the new Covid restrictions on mask wearing in enclosed spaces and proof of vaccination as advised by SwanCare management and venues. Each Qigong class has been attended with enthusiasm since it started in October last year. “It seems that it is becoming more popular with each session as the word spreads about how well people feel after the class,” said class instructor, Doreen Boss. The Qigong class runs for approximately 45 minutes. This year Doreen has added meditation for those who choose to stay after class, lasting around 30 minutes. “My style of meditation is a short positive discussion/ story, followed by guided meditation,” said Doreen. Qi (pronounced Chi) is the vital life force or energy which this 18 movement Qigong Shibashi allows to

follow, leaving one with feelings of wellbeing, health, and vitality. It is taught as a healing art in traditional Chinese medical schools and is also recommended by the U.N. Development Program worldwide. “I have been facilitating this subject for almost 20 years,” said Doreen. “I practice every day, it was particularly useful during lock downs as you can do it in the garden. It takes you to a calm place.” The group welcomes new members and there is no experience necessary. “You will go home feeling both peaceful and energised, ready to greet the day,” said Doreen. That settles it, why not try the next class! January 31st, I need to see your Covid-19 vaccination certificate, either phone or hard copy, before you can join in the line dancing. If you are new or haven’t been for some time and I haven’t ticked your name off, please come before 9.20am. I can’t be at the door checking vax certificates and on the stage demonstrating at the same time. Thanks for your cooperation. Hopefully we will be able to continue with line dancing despite restrictions. If it comes to the crunch, I might need to take smaller groups on the balcony of the Leisure Centre, but I will keep it going if I possibly can. Please make sure I have your email details so I can contact you if things change.
