SWAN VILLAGE BOWLING CLUB The club is still bowling with the Bentley Bowling Club on Monday and Saturday mornings from 9.00am. Our club also bowls on Wednesday from 1.00pm followed by our regular happy hour. With the start of spring next month the club has three important dates for you to keep free.

• The second date to mark on the calendar is Thursday

5th of September for our usual luncheon outing, this time to the Bayswater Hotel. For all the details and nomination form see our noticeboard outside the Bentley Park bowling rink in Saggers Drive. Payment to be made before Friday 29th August.

• On 12th of September the club will hold its AGM in the

auditorium (Plantation Drive) commencing at 9.30am. If any members wish to have an item included on the agenda, such item must be received by the secretary at least 14 days prior to the meeting. Nomination forms for being on the committee are on the notice board in Saggers Drive. All members are urged to consider nominating for the committee and to keep the 12th of September free to attend the AGM.

HEART FOUNDATION WALKING GROUP

Our patrons in September will be invited to help us set the program for 2020. They will be able to choose their three favourites in a poll of 24 DVDs available to us.

Residents of Rowethorpe and Bentley Park are welcome to join us for a 30 minute walk. We start at 7.30am every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.

Don’t forget that the Swancare bus begins its run at 6pm for free transport to the Auditorium, and home again afterwards. Movies begin promptly at 6.30 pm, and there is a refreshment break.

The walks are free to join and are followed by tea and coffee and a chat. A great way to make new friends! By keeping active and taking regular exercise you can: • Improve fitness • Strengthen bones • Lose excess weight • Boost muscle power • Improve blood sugar control.

KINGIA/TANDARA & WAMINDA AUXILIARY We had our Christmas in July lunch at the Abbey on Chester in the Swan Valley during the month. It was enjoyed by all – particularly the chocolate factory we visited on the way home. The August meeting of the auxiliary will be held in the auditorium on Tuesday 27th August at 1.30pm. Our speaker is Frances Maber talking about her great great Grandmother-in-law who was convicted at the Old Bailey and sent to NSW as a convict. Our next function is the Annual Spring Lunch which is held on the 26th of September. Cost is $25 per head and includes a 2 course meal and some wine and soft drinks. Tickets will be available at our next meeting and also on sale in the auditorium on a date to be advised. You will receive a flyer with the date. Tables of 10. The annual general meeting will be held on 26th November and we would like some new faces on the committee so please give it some thought.

COMPUTER CLUB Situated in an air-conditioned room our volunteer staff are there to help our members with any computer problems. Join us to get answers on any questions you have on Windows 10, or anything relating to computers, printers or internet. We cater for vision-impaired members and have special adapted keyboards for their use. Our facilitators are trained to assist, call in to check us out.

BENTLEY PARK CASINO ROYALE A fun day out and lovely lunch for $10. Even if you don’t wish to gamble, it’s nice to be out and about with friends. Keep an eye out in the foyer of the auditorium building for our trip sheet and add your name, if you intend going. Please note we need 25 people to be eligible for the casino bus with the $10 plan.
