Blackwall Reach Residents’ Board AGM

Tower Hamlets Council is working with the Millennium Green Trust (MGT) to negotiate a voluntary transfer of the three remaining plots of land which are still owned by MGT back to the Council. Most of the green is now vested in the Council ownership following a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) in 2013. The Council plans to make a new CPO for the remaining three plots of land to ensure that the entire green area will be in the ownership of the Council. This will enable Swan to re-landscape and improve the Millennium Green as part of the Blackwall Reach Estate regeneration and ensure that

the green space is better managed and maintained in the future. The Council and its regeneration partners, Swan & the GLA are committed to preserving and improving the Millennium Green as a park for future generations of residents and the local community and this will be guaranteed by legal covenants. The Council has also set up the new Blackwall Reach Trust which will be the future custodian of Millennium Green. The new “Blackwall Trust” will also help to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits for the community.
