CHAIRING AND MINUTING MEETINGS The purpose of this course is for meetings to become productive and an efficient use of time to share information, make informed decisions and drive the business forward. The course will look to improve working relationships between the Chair and Note Taker resulting in improved communication and action stream following meetings. Participants will gain the skills required to confidently Chair or Facilitate meetings to ensure the agenda aims are achieved. Participants will feel more confident in preparing notes before, during and after a meeting. Improved notes will be issued following a meeting resulting in a clearer action stream.

EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY The purpose of this course is to give residents an understanding of: • Swan’s approach to equality and diversity;

• What we really mean by equality and diversity;

• Why they are important – the moral and business case; • Disability awareness and customer service;

• Equalities legislation and national policy – The basic legislative and regulatory requirements; • Rights and responsibilities of Swan and Axis employees; and

• How we can all work together to promote equality, community cohesion and social, financial and digital inclusion.

ESTATE/BLOCK INSPECTORS To train residents to be able to carry out full inspections, including health and safety, repairs, cleaning and also to report anti-social behaviour and any other issues seen that do not meet the Estate Services standards.

After this training session residents will feel confident in carrying out block/estate inspections and follow the processes to report any issues and complete inspection forms.

PRESENTATION SKILLS This course is designed to help participants understand how to prepare and deliver an effective presentation, and will include: • Set aims and objectives for their presentations

• Analyse the audience’s background, previous knowledge and needs in order to tailor the presentation content and style • Prepare the presentation venue

• Use appropriate visual aids to support the presentation content

• Follow the five step preparation model incorporating brainstorming, selection and structure, illustration, opening and closing, and speaker notes • Use techniques for overcoming nerves and building confidence • Plan and deliver a brief presentation and receive feedback

• Demonstrate appropriate body language and vocal style of delivery

• Build rapport with the audience to encourage interaction where appropriate • Deal with audience questions

RESIDENT INVOLVEMENT TRAINING RESIDENT INVOLVEMENT We are committed to actively involving residents to assist their communities to develop and maximise their potential. We provide many opportunities for consultation and involvement. These range from formal arrangements set out in our governance structure (the framework for the way we run) to less formal events like information days, focus groups and service improvement reviews.

We can also give advice on the steps to take with getting your community involved and setting up a Residents Association and how we can support you with established groups. This training will cover:
