Watts Grove Resident Newsletter Issue 2, Summer 2017
New Homes for Watts Grove Swan have undertaken consultation on proposals for the development of the land between Watts Grove and Gale Street since 2015. In January 2017 We updated residents in the area on the current proposals with a newsletter. In March of 2017 Swan undertook door to door consultation to update residents and advise of the submission of the planning application. Since the submission on 10th March 2017, Swan have been reviewing comments raised by residents, along with Gateway Housing and the planning department at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Swan are keen to provide a development that fits in with the surrounding area and minimise the impact on the current residents.

In response to concerns raised regarding the previous proposal for an open access route through the scheme, the provision of gated access is proposed for the northern connection between our site and Compton Close. This will provide vehicular access for refuse collection, and pedestrians of the proposed scheme only. Along with the secure access from Compton Close Swan will also fit a CCTV system covering Swans Development. This will be monitored at Swans CCTV offices in Bow Cross and will be used to deter ASB within the area. Discussions are ongoing with Gateway regarding the potential to extend CCTV to cover Compton Close. The images to the right are architects impression of how the gate would sit within our site and the connection these would have to Compton Close. These show how the connection will remain secure for all tenants but will provide light and an improved view from Compton Close. The CCTV coverage is to include the gated area on our site and Compton Close and would look to further assure future and current residents of the area.
