Please note the following:  For this year’s training booklet, there will be a £20 charge

per place for all mandatory training. This is a necessary introduction to allow us to continue to offer training at what remains a heavily subsidised rate and will be payable by credit/debit card at the time of booking.

 For any cancellations up to 48 hours before the date of

training, you will be placed on the next available course.

served basis

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work

Facilitated by RT Training Service _______________________________________________________________ This course will enable the learner to:  Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider.  Be able to assess an incident.  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.  Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.  Know how to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.  Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding.  Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.  Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury. Level 2 Award in Food Safety

Facilitated by RT Training Service _______________________________________________________________ Who should attend this course? This course is designed for all staff involved in the handling and preparation of food. The Level 2 Award in Food Safety is a mandatory requirement for all child care workers as stipulated by the CIW. Course Delivery This course will be delivered in a classroom environment. Successful completion of the course is subject to a formal examination, which will take place at the end of the day. Successful candidates will receive a certificate from the Highfield Awarding Body for compliance. The qualification is on the Qualifications and Credit Framework at level 2. Level 2 Award in Safeguarding Awareness

Facilitated by Pembrokeshire College _______________________________________________________________ This course is an accredited level 2 unit – Agored Cymru. Please bring a form of photographic I.D. as delegates will be required to register with Pembrokeshire College in order to gain accreditation. Delegates will also be required to complete a workbook throughout the day. This course will provide the knowledge and understanding required for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. After the course delegates will be able to:  Identify the legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, including guidelines on e-safety.  Understand how to safeguard children, young people and practitioners in a work setting.  Identify how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused, harmed or bullied.

Play is an essential element in the prevention and early intervention jigsaw. This is an underpinning knowledge session that can be explored further and built upon that is suitable for practitioners working with children of all ages not just the very young.

Mindfulness

Facilitated by Mary Rose Jones and Tanya Isaac, Family Centre Officers _______________________________________________________________ This course is designed to provide some simple information and advice about how to implement Mindfulness with school aged children. It offers an explanation about the benefits of Mindfulness and some tools, techniques, strategies, games and mediations that can be used to support a child’s emotional and physical well-being. Many children may experience negative feelings, stress, anxiety or anger and have difficulty coping with these emotions. Using Mindfulness with children can promote a sense of calm and allow children to develop an understanding of their own feelings and how best to manage it.

Training Terms and Conditions Delegates attending all training courses will be expected to:  Be polite, courteous, respectful and honest at all times.  Turn up on time and stay for the duration of the course. It is not acceptable to request permission from the course facilitator to leave early on the day of training.  Actively participate, contribute to and demonstrate interest in course content.  Make all formal complaints in relation to the training programme in writing. Complaints should be factual, precise and constructive in nature and be forwarded to the Family Information Service within 10 days of occurrence. Please be aware that the times stated on your confirmation are the minimum participation time required by the awarding bodies in order to award certificates and that trainers have the authority to refuse entry to delegates arriving more than 10 minutes late. Similarly trainers have the authority to refuse certification for delegates leaving more than 15 minutes before the scheduled end time.

Training Terms and Conditions Continued …… Childcare Settings – Childminders, Day Nurseries, Playgroups, Out of School Childcare Clubs and groups of a similar nature will be expected to:  Complete the Terms & Conditions Form within 2 weeks of the telephone booking being made.  Complete the Training Needs and Analysis Form  Send no more than 2 delegates from the same childcare setting per course.  Make cancellations 48 hours before the course start date.  In respect of mandatory courses, agree to relinquish the £20.00 fee for failure to notify of non-attendance and late cancellation of place/s. A cancellation is exactly that, regardless of the severity of the issue.
