Romeo and Juliet
La Bohème
William Shakespeare
Puccini
Romeo and Juliet is the world’s greatest love story. Shakespeare’s soaring hymn to young love stands at the gateway of tolerance and compassion, stretching its hands out to us across the centuries, as fresh and as pertinent today as when first penned. Romeo and Juliet is a warning to us all to live and let live, not allow our lives to be ruled by bigotry and prejudice, a plea for us to be united in our difference. For where love is forbidden, tragedy will follow.
This magnificent, traditional production is directed by Ellen Kent and performed by international soloists alongside the full Chisinau National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus in an amphitheatre set designed by London designer Will Bowen. In La Boheme the amphitheatre structure will be converted into the attics and back streets of Bohemian Paris and highlights the grandeur of Paris against the impressive Colosseum structure. This production will even boast snow!
Michael Bogdanov’s new production of Romeo and Juliet stars Jack Ryder (Eastenders) and Sara Lloyd Gregory (Belonging) as the young lovers. Jack and Sara are supported by some of Wales Theatre Company’s favourite performers from past productions such as Amazing Grace, Twelfth Night and A Child’s Christmas in Wales. Romeo and Juliet is directed by two-time Olivier Award winner Michael Bogdanov. Talkback Sessions - After school matinees and Wed evening.

From Russia’s Ural mountains, a region from where Tchaikovsky himself hails, The Big Ballet was formed in 1994 and sets out to deliberately and, above all, self-confidently challenge accepted social standards in a world where the pursuit of slenderness and beauty seems obsessive. The dancers courageously and imposingly prove that grace, elegance, charisma and nimbleness are not the domain of the ‘thin’, proudly presenting their voluptuous, yet surprisingly sinuous and flexible figures.

Sounds of the Glenn Miller Era
Aida
Nick Ross Orchestra
The grandness of the Colosseum of Rome set against the greatness of Egypt come together in this spectacular new production with the amphitheatre set designed by London designer, Will Bowen.
The lights soften, the mood settles. An audience waits for that first moment of sound. The Big Band is poised, relaxed, but with eyes anxious for the lead. Then, as if giving body to an echo, the murmured notes of ‘Moonlight Serenade’... and the night, it seems, is suddenly full and timeless. Recapture the sounds of a bygone era as the Nick Ross Orchestra presents ‘an unmissable evening of music and song’ - the Classic Big Band Sound of the 1940s.
Verdi
Aida is a story of war, jealousy and revenge, at whose heart is the doomed love of the beautiful Ethiopian slave girl, Aida, and the Egyptian hero, Radames. Aida is a unique mixture of splendid chorus scenes and intimate, lyrical moments which show the Chisinau National Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus at their best. Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
