Exhibitions Dylan Thomas, Swansea’s most famous son, captured perfectly his memories of childhood Christmases in his much-loved “A Child’s Christmas in Wales”. His mastery of language cleverly stimulates our emotions and his eye for detail stirs deep memories of our own experiences. Working with Jeff Towns and Swansea artist John Upton we aim to recreate memories of Christmas past. Displaying paintings inspired by the work of Dylan Thomas and cabinets full of vintage and antique Father Christmas figures, bisque cake decorations and a selection of large, pressed cardboard standees. Included in the exhibition, some examples of scarce Victorian and Edwardian Christmas ceramics.

16th January – 1st March 2015 Hidden Now Heard MENCAP are researching Hensol Castle and its past history as a hospital for people with learning disabilities. The exhibition will be based on the oral testimony of former residents, staff and those involved in the resettlement of patients. By recreating parts of the hospital, incorporating oral histories, artefacts and interactive exhibits the exhibition will provide a personal history of life for people with a learning disability during Hensol's use as a long stay hospital between 1927 and 2003. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm Last admission 4.40pm. Closed Mondays except Bank Holidays

2014 sees both the 250th anniversary of the beginning of industrialised potting in Swansea, and the 200th anniversary of the production of porcelain in Swansea. This exhibition showcases the variety of wares produced in Swansea between 1764 and 1814. Curated by Peter David in partnership with Swansea Museum.

23rd January – 22nd March 2015 The Evolution of Man 1965-2014 Acid Rock from Wales John Bannon grew up in South Wales and was influenced by bands playing in the local area; two of these bands were The Bystanders and The Dream. They united and formed the group Man; the music they produced made a great impression on him, and so began his love of collecting memorabilia. Drawing from his vast collection we are happy to present an exhibition rich with the history of the development of the local group Man. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm Last admission 4.40pm. September 2014 – 19th January 2015 Swansea Pottery - A Celebration

Sylvie Evans, Rose Davies and Graham Parker are ‘15 Hundred Lives’, a Swansea based contemporary arts group. The group’s aim is to bring accessible contemporary art to the heart of the city. All are part of a growing demographic of ‘baby boomer’ artists whose artistic practices are coming of age after decades of working in other disciplines. Having successfully run monthly art events in the Creative Bubble Artspace since 2013, they now are happy to present an exhibition at Swansea Museum.

22nd May – 9th August It’s not all Jam and Jerusalem – Celebrating 100 years of the Women’s Institute in Swansea The Women's Institute was formed in 1915 in rural communities to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. The WI has gone from strength to strength and is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK. This exhibition explores the local stores of the WI movement in Swansea, from campaigning and craft to friendship and fun. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm Last admission 4.40pm. Closed Mondays except Bank Holidays

Rhiannon’s Legacy - March - June 2015

Cofnododd Dylan Thomas, mab enwocaf Abertawe, ei atgofion o Nadoligau ei blentyndod yn berffaith yn ei stori fer boblogaidd, “A Child’s Christmas in Wales”. Mae ei feistrolaeth ar iaith yn ysgogi ein hemosiynau'n gelfydd ac mae ei ddisgrifiadau sylwgar yn galw i gof atgofion dwfn o'n profiadau ein hunain. Gan weithio gyda Jeff Towns a'r artist o Abertawe, John Upton, ein nod yw ail-greu atgofion o Nadolig yr oes a fu. Byddwn yn arddangos paentiadau a ysbrydolwyd gan waith Dylan Thomas a llond cabinetau o ffigyrau Siôn Corn clasurol a hen, addurniadau teisen bisg a detholiad o olygfeydd sefyll cardbord gwasgedig mawr. Mae'r arddangosfa hefyd yn cynnwys enghreifftiau o gerameg Nadolig prin oes Victoria a'r oes Edwardaidd.

Trwy ail-greu rhannau o'r ysbyty a chynnwys hanesion llafar, arteffactau ac arddangosion rhyngweithiol, bydd yr arddangosfa'n portreadu hanes personol bywyd pobl ag anabledd dysgu pan oedd Hensol yn cael ei ddefnyddio fel ysbyty arhosiad hir rhwng 1927 a 2003.
