Programme of Events Events include: Swansea’s BIG check-in Staff check-ins Mood Boards Pupils check-ins ADDs session Children’s training Restorative Approaches Conference Parent/Guardian Awareness Raising session Selection of drop-ins

This programme of events has been organised to showcase the excellent work being embedded in Swansea. Restorative training is being rolled-out across Swansea on a rolling programme with the aim for all schools and organisations to use the approach.

Swansea’s BIG Check-in Schools and organisations are invited to be part of a record breaking event and join the City & County of Swansea’s biggest check-in. All Schools and organisations already trained in Restorative Approaches are asked to hold a check-in with everyone present on Monday morning between 8.45am – 9.15am. Creating A Mood Board Need some new ideas? Share your own creation! Help inspire others! This is a one-hour workshop session sharing examples of effective mood boards used with pupils and staff. The workshop will include discussion on the benefits of using feelings charts. Venue: Cadle Primary School Date: Tuesday 24th April 2012

Townhill Primary School Check ins, check-out’s, tours, Q&A’s… An opportunity to speak to a Restorative Practice Champion and visit the newly established Restorative Practice room at the school This is a multi-facetted room used for various interventions, 1-2-1’s and all types of Restorative Conferences. Sea View Primary School - Sian Davies Parents Assembly – Engaging the Community An opportunity to be part of an Assembly specifically aimed at parents. This presentation lets parents know what Restorative Approaches means for the children. Schools will be able to replicate this approach in their own environment. Open School ADDs Session An invitation to be part of an open ADDs session In this informative workshop you will learn and discuss the 4 key elements of implementing an explicit framework in dealing with harm and relationships. Venue: Blaenymaes Primary School Date: Tuesday 24th April 2012 Time: 3.30pm Duration: 1.5 hours Number of places available: 30

Artist in Residence Workshop This is a multi-school pupil workshop. The artist Keith Bayliss will work with primary and secondary school pupils from Restorative Practice Schools to create artwork that will be used in promoting RP in Swansea. Clase Primary School Pupil Role Play This pupil led session demonstrates with pupils how to develop the skills for Restorative Practice. Venue: Clase Primary School Date: Monday 23rd April 2012 Duration: 1 hour

Blaenymaes Primary School Parent/Guardian Awareness Raising Session An awareness-raising session for parents and guardians to aid understanding in Restorative Practice. Aimed at: parents, governors, headteachers, teachers, RP Champions and any others interested. Venue: Blaenymaes Primary School Date: Tuesday 24th April 2012 Time: 9.30am Duration: 1.5 hours

YGG Bryn Tawe Simon Davies Please note this session is awaiting confirmation. A talk on the training implementation and training continuum in a secondary school. Aimed at: Strategic Leads, Senior Management Team, Heads of year Venue: Education Effectiveness Conference Room, YGG Bryn Tawe Date: Tuesday 24th April 2012 Time: 3.30pm Duration: 1.5 hours Number of places available: 20-30

Children’s Training Session Training for pupils to support embedding Restorative Approaches (RA) in the school Pupils will be introduced to RA and given the tools to effectively deal with low level interventions by means of affective statements and questions. As a result of completing the course they would be used with the school as mentors in RA. Training will take place in the following venues with some additional places available to schools to bring some of their own pupils. Aimed at: Years 5/6 Venue: Blaenymaes Primary School Dates: Tuesday 24th April 2012 Time: 9.00 am Duration: 3.5 hours Number of places available: 4 per school (Maximum 20 per course)


Restorative Justice An opportunity to visit the Youth Justice Centre to understand the Restorative Justice approach, working with those that have been directly affected to those harmed. The visit includes a tour of the centre and workshop areas.
