Emergency First Aid at Work

Level 2 Award in Food Safety

Emergency First Aid at Work, is accepted as the minimum standard that must be achieved for many who are designated at workplace First Aiders. This course is an ideal stepping stone and introduction to the First Aid at Work qualification that other designated First Aiders will have to achieve. This course will provide students with the skills to perform Emergency First Aid in the workplace.

This course is suitable for anyone who handles food, including the general public, and is particularly suitable for those working in kitchens or undertaking frontline duties in preparing, processing or retailing food. The Trainer will tailor the course to meet the needs of those working in the childcare sector, paying particular attention to the varied premises where food preparation is carried out. The Food Safety - Level 2 course covers a wide range of subjects to ensure that all members of staff are maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the workplace, and are actively preventing the contamination of food.

The aim of the day is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the principles underpinning safeguarding children, the legislative framework and their agency policy.

This course provides Level 3 knowledge of Child Protection and will help individuals recognise and know what to do if a child is at risk. The course aims to provide information on reporting strategies, policies and procedures. It also covers: how to make the working environment safe for children, including safe practices; it will look at the role of the designated person with responsibility for child protection and anyone who is responsible for safeguarding children within their organisation. The course focuses on a review of current knowledge, legislation and regulation, multi-agency working, safer recruitment and the role of the Independent Safeguarding Authority and safeguarding children and adults.

■ To enable participants to examine their own values and attitudes with regard to safeguarding children. ■ To provide participants with the opportunity to explore when and how these issues may impact on them and to practice the process of decision making.

Anti Bullying for Under 5’s

Fun with Numbers Activity Session

This training course allows the participants to explore bullying behaviour in early years settings. The day will include a chance to think about what and why bullying might happen with under 5's and its possible effects, as well as providing a wide range of participative methods that can be used with young children in order for this behaviour to happen less.

An interactive and fun day for early years professionals to develop their awareness of how to promote numeracy skills with the 0-5 age group. The group will have the opportunity to try out a variety of practical activities that they can adapt and use in their professional roles when working with children in their care.

Developing Welsh Bilingualism in your Childcare Setting

Positive Ways of Changing Behaviour

The course allows us to consider our own attitudes and values towards challenging behaviour. Delegates will be able to analyse behaviour and place it within the four groups of need. The day will cover behaviour escalation and de-escalation strategies and allow participants to begin to build up a proactive behaviour support plan for an individual. Learning Outcomes:

The intention of this course is to provide training for childcare staff who are eager to develop their Welsh Language Skills and their ability to deliver childcare of a bilingual nature, possibly leading to Welsh medium childcare in Swansea. The course will focus on Welsh Language awareness, using relevant and effective resources, and will offer examples of developing good practices in childcare settings.

The aim of this course is to build the capacity and confidence of existing, new and aspiring managers in childcare settings. The course will be highly interactive, and participatory. TRAINING TERMS AND CONDITIONS Delegates attending all training courses will be expected to:

■ Be polite, courteous, respectful and honest at all times. ■ Turn up on time and stay for the duration of the course. It is not acceptable to request permission from the course facilitator to leave early on the day of training. Please be aware that the times stated on your confirmation are the minimum participation time required by the awarding bodies in order to award certificates and that trainers have the authority to refuse entry to delegates arriving more than 10 minutes late. Similarly trainers have the authority to refuse certification for delegates leaving more than 15 minutes before the scheduled end time. ■ Actively participate, contribute to and demonstrate interest in course content. ■ Make all formal complaints in relation to the training programme in writing. Complaints should be factual, precise and constructive in nature and be forwarded to the Family Information Service within 10 days of occurance. Childcare Settings – Childminders, Day Nurseries, Playgroups, Out of School Childcare Clubs and groups of a similar nature will be expected to: ■ Complete the Terms & Conditions Form within 2 weeks of the telephone booking being made. ■ Send no more than 2 delegates from the same childcare setting per course. ■ Make cancellations 10 working days before the course start date. ■ Agree to relinquish the £50.00 fee for failure to attend and late cancellation of place/s.
