Jack Earl Sturdy

Passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 of natural causes. He was 77 years old.

Jack was born in Nov, 16, 1947 to Earl nd Flora Mae Sturdy on Pocatello, ID. The family moved here in 1958-59 when his Dad got a job at China Lake. Jack graduated from Burroughs High School. Jack was in the Army and went to Vietnam June 1968 - June 1970. Jack is a decorated Vietnam vet with a Bronze Star Medal with a “V” for Valor in ground combat, He worked at the Louisiana Pacific Sawmill pulling chain for 10 years. He was a Fireman at China Lake. He retired from the Marine Warfare Training Center Fire Department as a Fireman/Engineer. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding his motorcycle, quads, basketball, playing horseshoes and reading.

Jack as preceded in death my his parents Earl and Flora Mar Sturdy, his daughter Kathleen Sturdy, and Jack’s ex-wife Helen Sturdy and the mother of his children, Jack is survived by his wife, Cheryl Sturdy and his son James Sturdy and his wife Sheena, brother James Sturdy wife Suzie, David Bitkowski and wife Mirela, Jennifer Morgan and husband Daniel Patterson, Grandchildren: Alissa Sturdy, Angelina Sturdy, Chad Sturdy, Dezaley Morgan, Domenic Morgan, Dustin Morgan, and James Patterson.

A funeral will be held a Seven Day Adventist Church at 555 W. Las Flores Ave, Ridgecrest, CA. February 8, 2025 at 2pm, graved side services following at Desert Memorial Park 801 San Bernardino Blvd., Ridgecrest, CA

Mission Statement -The Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce is an alliance of business leaders which are the voice of advocacy, providing benefits and services to its members, while creating a strong local economy and promoting the community.

What We Do - The Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce was incorporated on Oct. 9, 1946 and began functioning as the governing body for Ridgecrest, a role the Chamber performed as the community experienced years of rapid growth to keep pace with growth of the Naval Ordnance Test Station at China Lake. During those early years, the Chamber created and disseminated information about the Indian Wells Valley, studied living costs in the community, established the Desert Empire Fair, established a relationship with the China Lake Community Council, and helped bring such amenities as natural gas and street lights to the community. With Chamber assistance, the Desert Empire Fair became a separate entity in 1965.

With the First Annual Congress for Community Progress in 1966, the Chamber began a tradition of hosting events that gave community members an opportunity to learn about community progress and share ideas for the future. The tradition continued with the annual Economic Outlook Conference and Business Expo, which celebrated its 37th anniversary in 2024. Over the years, the Chamber has initiated and maintained numerous business promotions and community events, such as ribbon-cuttings, after-hours mixers, Wine Walk events, the very popular Ridgecrest Star Follies, the Small Business Expo, and many other enjoyable events designed to foster the strength of our business community through enhanced communication. The Chamber has also arranged and sponsored numerous workshops to educate the business community on such topics as labor law, marketing, and customer service. The founding of the Ridgecrest Nexus Foundation by the Chamber in 1991 supports the development of cultural and educational projects in the community. The Chamber has taken a proactive role in efforts to strengthen the community’s economy through the founding of the Local Economic Development Corporation in 1981. The LEDC was later used as structure for IWV 2000 in 1994, then the IWV EDC in 2011. Relocation and visitors information plus demographics are provided to individuals and businesses interested in relocating to the Indian Wells Valley. 1 pound sweet and 1/2pound hot Italian sausage, removed from casings

1 pound mozzarella cheese

Two 15-ounce containers ricotta cheese

1 large egg

3 - 4 fresh lasagna sheets (about 8ounces)

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1 # thinly sliced portabella mushrooms

1 Large can your favorite pasta sause

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a medium pot heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and add sausage, brown and strain. Cook sliced mushrooms until almost soft. Thinly slice about a quarter of the mozzarella and set aside; grate the rest on a box grater. Combine the grated cheese with the ricotta and the egg. Spread the reserved 2/3 cup tomato sauce in the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Top with 1 pasta sheet, a third of the ricotta mixture and a third of the meat sauce. Repeat with the remaining pasta, ricotta and meat sauce. Cover with foil and bake until the sauce is bubbling around the edges and the pasta is tender, about 45 minutes. Remove the foil, top with the sliced mozzarella and continue to bake until the cheese is melted, 15 minutes more. Garnish with torn fresh basil leaves
