1. INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVES
2
INTRODUCTION I did my professional Architectural training at 'FWD Architects'. The reason why I decided to do my internship in the field of Housing and commercial is its emerging relevance in the Architectural world. To Experts, A house is a building that functions as a home. They can range from simple dwellings such as rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes and the improvised shacks in shantytowns to complex, fixed structures of wood, brick, concrete or other materials containing plumbing, ventilation, and electrical systems. Houses use a range of different roofing systems to keep precipitation such as rain from getting into the dwelling space. Houses may have doors or locks to secure the dwelling space and protect its inhabitants and contents from burglars or other trespassers. Most conventional modern houses in Western cultures will contain one or more bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen or cooking area, and a living room. A house may have a separate dining room, or the eating area may be integrated into another room. Some large houses in North America have a recreation room. The social unit that lives in a house is known as a household. During my internship with FWD Architects I worked as a full-fledged member of the team, with being responsible for my own projects and dealing with clients, designing, drawing, joining meetings with clients, with sub-contractors, and visiting sites during construction. Everything has been done under guidance of the mentor (Ar B.V. Narendranath Reddy, Ar Ayush Gupta, Ar Karthik Shanbhogue) provided by the company. The purpose of this internship was to give me an insight and working knowledge about field work. How the construction site works, how to deal with clients, and last but not least, how to structure the work one does. Supposedly, These are the skills which a student can only acquire while working in a professional workplace. During the professional training in FWD Architects, I got the opportunity to understand the ongoing industry practices which helped me to bridge the gap between my academic concepts and professional practices. In this report following aspects will be discussed:
Objectives and goals of the internship.
Internship company's background, work practices and scope of work.
An account of day to day work done at the company during the internship.
A short summary of all the projects assigned to me by the company.
My conclusion about the experience and the understanding of this particular branch of architecture i.e. Housing.
Key learnings gained from this 25 weeks of experience.
3
Objectives and goals of the internship.
To undertake professional training in architectural design in general and Housing design in particular.
To gain exposure to the world of architectural practices, innovation and research.
To bridge the gap between academic concepts and professional practices.
To learn more in the field of Housing design, especially the technical skills and design processes involved.
To learn about the experience of going through the different phases of a project, and to understand more about how the relation between a client's visions and a designer's idea works.
To participate in the concept development stage.
To understand the working of a Housing designing establishment and their organisational structure.
To learn how to work in a team with various people with different domains working on one single project.

1) This was the first project I worked on since the beginning of my internship. As a first task I was asked to Calculate the areas of each and every type of flats of the apartment according to RERA Act. The Real Estate Regulation and Development (RERA) Act, 2016 is considered as one of the landmark legislations passed by the Government of India. Its objective is to reform the real estate sector in India, encouraging greater transparency, citizen centricity, accountability and financial discipline. This is in line with the vast and growing economy of India as in future many people will be investing in real estate sector. While doing this I learnt that the are also laws and acts taken place for the benefit of clients from builders. Any mislead in the Rera areas and final constructed building may sentence the builder to jail and the building may also gets demolished.

2) The Second task assigned to me of this project was making the working drawing of the Entry gate of the design. During the process I had learnt about the floating column. The term floating column is also a vertical element which ends (due to architectural design/ site situation) at its lower level (termination Level) rests on a beam which is a horizontal member. This particular gate consists of both different entry and exit and a security room. The basic design was finalised before giving the work to me. During the process of making the detail there were also many minor changes in the dimensions provided. During my working on this drawing I had to revise the drawing about 7 times.

3)The Third task assigned to me of this project was making the working drawing of Door, Window schedule.n its broadest sense, the term ‘schedule’ simply refers to a list. That can be a list of items, activities, events, information, and so on. Schedules may be appended to other documents, such as contracts. Window and door schedules are a convenient way of presenting complex information about the different door and window sizes and types that are specified on the contract documents to ensure proper installation. Drawings may refer to window and door schedules by use of a code corresponding to a door or window type on the schedule. During this task I had learnt the different aspects of the detailing of doors and windows and how crucial is to provide the exact number of the doors and windows , which are going to be executed in the project.

4) The Fourth task assigned to me of this project was making the Working drawings, Good for construction drawings of the Typical details of all the basic elements which are implemented in the project. Working drawings provide dimensioned, graphical information that can be used; by a contractor to construct the works, or by suppliers to fabricate components of the works or to assemble or install components. They may include architectural drawings, structural drawings, civil drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and so on. Working drawings provide dimensioned, graphical information that can be used; by a contractor to construct the works, or by suppliers to fabricate components of the works or to assemble or install components. They may include architectural drawings, structural drawings, civil drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and so on. Detail drawings show a small part of the construction at a larger scale, to show how the component parts fit together. They are also used to show small surface details, for example decorative elements. Section drawings at large scale are a standard way of showing building construction details, typically showing complex junctions (such as floor to wall junction, window openings, eaves and roof apex) that cannot be clearly shown on a drawing that includes the full height of the building. A full set of construction details needs to show plan details as well as vertical section details.

1) For this project, I was assigned work to make the 3D of the Site office of the project. During working on this I had learnt the different functions of site office and its purpose. I previously don’t know that there will be a building called as site-office and which is demolished after the success construction of the housing project. Construction sites will generally require office facilities to provide accommodation for site managers, provide space for meetings and to provide storage for site documentation. Site offices are often described as ‘site huts’ even if they are large and well fitted out. It is important that site offices are comfortable, attractive and versatile, as well as being suitably robust and secure. A construction site must, so far as is reasonably practicable, have sufficient working space and be arranged so that it is suitable for any person who is working or who is likely to work there, taking account of any necessary work equipment likely to be used there.

Discover an environment where flawless construction quality, the best in class amenities and facilities blend contemporary living harmoniously with the alluring natural surroundings. 1) In this project I had assigned the task of making the Working drawings of kitchen and toilet dado pattern. In the kitchen and toilet there is a use of various types of tiles, so there will be more wastage of tiles if the tiles are arranged unplanned in these areaas and there is also less visual appeal. So in these areas the tile pattern is designed saperatly for the least usage of the tilea and as well as good visual appearance of the arrangement of the tiles. This pattern is called as Dado pattern.

2)The Second task assigned to me of this project was making the working drawing of Door, Window schedule.n its broadest sense, the term ‘schedule’ simply refers to a list.

A villa was originally an ancient Roman upper-class country house. Since its origins in the Roman villa, the idea and function of a villa have evolved considerably. After the fall of the Roman Republic, villas became small farming compounds, which were increasingly fortified in Late Antiquity, sometimes transferred to the Church for reuse as a monastery. Then they gradually re-evolved through the Middle Ages into elegant upper-class country homes. In modern parlance, 'villa' can refer to various types and sizes of residences, ranging from the suburban "semi-detached" double villa to residences in the wildland–urban interface. In this project I had rendered the site plan of the proposed villas layout using various software like Photoshop, Sketchup for making the shadows etc.

A shopping mall is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of shopping precinct or shopping center, in which one or more buildings form a complex of shops representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from unit to unit. A shopping arcade is a specific type of shopping precinct which is usually distinguished in English for mall shopping by the fact that connecting walkways are not owned by a single proprietor and are in open air. Shopping malls in 2017 accounted for 8% of retailing space in the United States. In this project I had worked upon the form evolution and making 3D and Presentation drawings using various softwares.During this project I had learnt the various explorations can be taken while evolution of form of a commercial building.

4. CONCLUSION & OBSERVATIONS
127
CONCLUSION & OBSERVATIONS In my opinion, The purpose of 24 weeks practical training is to expose the student to the real world tasks and allow students to work in a team with trained professionals. It is also a chance for the student to apply the theories into practice. I have learnt some very useful skills in FWD Architects. At the start of my internship I had certain uncertainties and doubts concerning my practical skills. I had some difficulties in trusting my decisions when it came to concept developments and I felt the need to ask others whether what I was doing was right or wrong. However, by the end of my internship, I can say that this has completely changed; I have learned to trust my work. I got to know the working environment in the office and behaviour of my colleagues. My inter-personal and corporate communication skills have improved a lot. The experience that I have obtained at FWD gave me a big push on design knowledge within the practical field that I know for sure will have an impact on my career and will help me to become a better architect in my future plans. During the past 6 months of internship, several different tasks have been assigned to me and I have completed and understood them. I am sure this knowledge will be used in the future work situations. I have learned about project development, interaction between coworkers, clients, and contractors. I was involved in design, producing working drawing and as well as service coordination of projects. In the end I can conclude that this internship has bridged the gap between my academic concepts and professional practices upto a large extent.
