TIME FOR A SENSE OF ADVENTURE! The new Coniston collection is inspired by the adventure and record-breaking attempts of Donald Campbell in his hydroplane the Bluebird K7 at Coniston Waters in the Lake District.

Designed for life, this watch was created to be worn everyday. A pop of yellow in the form of the second hand and second markers, inspired by the yellow of the Bluebird’s badge and intake covers, add another element of interest to the already striking face. Polished hour and minute hands and applied indices tie together with the case, while giving another subtle nod to the metallic trim found on the K7. As the hydroplane itself proudly sported the British flag, the Marloe logo and the words ‘designed in Britain’ are featured on the dial. The overall feel of the Coniston Bluebird evokes that bygone era of engineering prowess.

The slim dimensions make it feel weightless on the wrist too and there are 11 strap colours to choose from. There are three other styles in the collection – White, Steel and Vulcan. BACPACKS ARE TRENDING Following an extensive career in the fashion industry, designing womenswear and lingerie prints for the UK high street, Caroline Bithrey started her business Josephine & Joe about four years ago. A light bulb moment came when dropping her daughter off to nursery, she wanted to incorporate liberty fabrics into a children’s bag but it transpired that women liked the bags for themselves!

All the beautiful backpacks are exclusively designed in London using Liberty fabrics. Caroline uses her knowledge of printed designs to carefully select her fabrics. The designs are then incorporated into a simple practical backpack for women (and children). The bags provide the perfect solution to accessorise any outfit, be it for daily commuting with a laptop, or dressing up for an evening event. The collection has been designed to make the most of the beautifully classic and updated prints and colours. Watch this space, as the brand is looking to develop the accessories range further this summer so that it includes children’s hats and women’s leather bags.

We’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on the Ciara Bloom backpack. It features the Classic hand drawn floral print from Liberty with a black water resistant soft handle fabric, and it’s such a well-made bag and very hard wearing. The liberty print has blues, pinks, greens and oranges making it easy to co-ordinate and add colour to any outfit. It’s perfect for carrying your daily or evening essentials including a 14in laptop, keys, phone and wallet. There’s also a matching notebook that can be bought separately and makes a stylish gift combo!

Gardens have a lot to offer us especially as we emerge from the Coronavirus lockdown. Being among nature can make you happy and walking in a beautiful garden can reduce stress and keep you fit. Make the most of your time outdoors and visit these beautiful gardens and areas of beauty around the UK

RHS GARDENS All four RHS Gardens are now reopening under a new pre-booking system as the government’s coronavirus lockdown measures begin to lift. The Gardens closed on Sunday 22 nd March after an increase in visitors post-lockdown made it difficult to maintain social distancing requirements, but now, more than two months later, the popular green spaces will reopen. This includes RHS Garden Wisley, RHS Garden Hyde Hall, RHS Garden Rosemoor and RHS Harlow Carr.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, says the gardening charity is delighted that the Government has said it is safe to reopen the RHS Gardens because it is proven that spending time outside in green open spaces surrounded by plants has an immensely positive effect on our health.

The Gardens will open from 10am to 4pm daily (Garden Centres 10am to 5pm daily). However, areas within the Gardens where it would be difficult to maintain social distancing, such as glasshouses, Alpine houses, bird hides and play areas will remain closed.

While the reopening will come as welcome news, visitor numbers entering the Gardens will be limited. Visitor numbers will be restricted and social distancing measures need to be adhered to, so it’s essential to pre-book.

Booking is now open here at www.rhs.org.uk/gardens
