Tell us a little bit about yourself and your brand? I originally started a brand several years ago called Makeup Doctor. I wanted to help the ‘everyday’ makeup wearer improve her makeup application and understand the what beauty products would work for her.

The only mission I had was to simplify the world of makeup and allow every woman to see a difference! Through coaching women, I discovered a huge problem in the industry! A real lack of affordable beauty tools designed for ease. The majority of the tools I came across were designed for artistry or not thought through at all! These brushes involved using a technique and often made it more difficult for the ‘regular gal’ to use, and get the results they wanted. When I did then find a brush that was half decent, it cost a small fortune which wasn't realistic for my clients to spend. What made you want to start a brush company? I really want to give the everyday makeup wearer, Makeup Made Easy. Makeup tools that make it simple to apply, no matter what products you use, and that took no time at all to apply with. I was inspired by Anita Roddick from The Body Shop, who I was lucky enough to meet and interview when I was just 9 years old! I think her moral compass and innovative ways stayed with me and made me believe you can affect change even in a very big industry.

Not everyone realises the importance of using a good quality makeup brush. Can you give our readers a few tips for choosing one? Using the correct brush means no more patchy or cakey makeup and takes less time to apply. Who doesn’t want that? So my tips for choosing not just a great brush but a brush that will help you in every way are:

1. Choose the correct type of fibre Synthetic brush fibres are for use with moisturebased products like concealers and foundations! This brush won’t soak up all the moisture from the product that gives you the finish that it should on the skin.

2. Size matters! Think about the area of the face you are applying the product to and the brush has to fit in that area. For example, if you want to place blusher on the apples of the cheeks, then your brush should be the size of that area. If it is too big the colour will just blead everywhere.

3. Density and flexibility If you are trying to place foundation onto the face, sparse longer fibres will mean gaps in your application and will require more techniques, so the length of the fibres need to be correct for the application process to make it sit smoothly.

What makes your brushes different from the rest? Do you have a favourite brush in your collection? I suppose the thing that makes us so different is we've a real understanding of what women need and want from their makeup. So, our design process has included this and everything we do involves our ‘Makeup Made Easy’ concept. I never started the business to make money, I genuinely started it to provide the everyday makeup wearer with tools that helped them to achieve great results simply!

It’s tough to pick a favourite, if I had to choose it would be the Flawless Foundation Brush. It’s the first brush I created and allows every person that picks it up to see a vast improvement in their foundation finish straight away.

Do you have a favourite makeup look you like to create over again? It’s difficult to pick a favourite look because I really like to create different looks every time. I love makeup that looks natural and glowing but also dramatic makeup too. I think what I steer towards are looks that enhance your features and suit the person wearing them.
