Tell us a bit about yourself and the inspiration behind your brand? Little Black Outfit was brought to life during the height of the pandemic last year, when I decided it was the right time to launch my first business. The inspiration behind the brand came from my struggle to find black baby clothes for my daughter. I saw a gap in the baby fashion market, as black clothing was so limited, especially in the summer months. I wanted to produce a brand that would supply fashionable, quality clothing for those searching for that ‘little black outfit’, under a name you will love and trust!

Who designs your garments and how do you decide what to make? I design all the garments myself. I don’t have a fashion background but always had an interest in being creative with clothing. I‘ve had so much fun researching and experimenting with my own designs, as well as being inspired by celebrity styles. Rather than pinks, blues, trucks, ducks and smiley faces, I produce simple garments using a variety of black fabrics to make each one cute, comfortable, practical and stylish.

Why have you chosen to make in the UK? Making my garments in the UK has enabled me to develop a productive working relationship with my manufacturer, who is amazing! Oh-Sew-Whitty (based in Yorkshire) has helped me in everything from fabric sourcing, to pattern design, and are always on the end of the phone!

What are your best-selling items? The ‘Signature Collection’ launched in December and showcased simple all black garments promoting the LBO Brand. This has done really well. The Signature Hooded Romper has been a particular favourite amongst this collection.

In March, I’ll be launching the new Collection, which will consist of a broader range of items with new fabrics such as velour, lace and ribbed, in a range of items from hats, headbands, leggings and sleepsuits.

Tell us how you are giving back? I really wanted to be able to use the LBO platform to give back to a charity that supports children. ‘Save The Children’ was the perfect choice due to the endless work they do to support children in so many different circumstances. Our ‘Just Giving Page’ is used for promoting awareness and receiving donations for this wonderful cause.

And finally, tell us three random things about yourself? In a previous job, I was lucky enough to work for Team GB and attend the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro 2016 and the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang 2018 and met some amazing athletes. My party trick is being able to do the worm (only comes out on special occasions). Finally I don’t think you could pay me to eat a banana!
