ADVANCE DESIGN PROJECT
OBJECTIVE To develop a range of products using varied art media, material, tools, techniques, and their manipulation to provide unexpected excitements and solution.Evolve an individual visual language. to provide insight into designing products keeping in mind the requirement and limitation of the selected technique and its quality parameters.
THEME ILLUSION
ILLUSION
TYPES OF ILLUSION
A false idea or belief, especially about somebody or about a situation.
Impossible Figures and Objects
Something that seems to exist but in fact does not, or seems to be something that it is not.
Impossible figures and objects sometimes reveal important insight into how we interpret 3D objects from 2D images. When looking at an impossible figure, it is hard to see how the parts fit together as a three dimensional object. It is really not the object that is in 3D, it is our interpretation of it. In 1934 a Swedish artist named Oscar Reutersvärd made the first impossible triangle out of cubes. Today he is recognized as “the father of impossible figures.”
An illusion is an image or representation believed to be real in our mind’s eye, but that is not actually real. In other words, because of the way our eyes and brain work, our eyes are tricked into seeing something that is not really there or into seeing something happen that did not really happen. Illusions can be very deceiving, and magicians use illusions to their advantage to make the audience believe that something happened by magic. Optical illusions tell a story about how our eyes and brain work together to allow us to see.
Facial Illusions Facial illusions show pictures of emotion. Your mind can only interpret one facial image at a time, but they are both there.
3 Dimensional Illusions Three dimensional illusions, sometimes called unstable figures, are lines put together to make a figure in a way that makes the image appear to come off the page. We live in a 3-dimensional world. This means that we move from side to side (one dimension), forwards and backwards (second dimension) and up and down (third dimension). A flat piece of paper is only two dimensional. However, we can draw objects that appear to be 3-dimensional
Illusion for me........ “Joe jaisa dikhta hai, woh waisa hota nahi. aur joe hota hai, woh kabhi dikhta nahi.” In Illusion, creator needs lots of concentration and precision.
“Place where there are no boundaries, There meets the creator with his creation.’’ - Swati Gupta
If we take an example of concentric circle, viewer can only see the visual representation but the efforts put in by the creator to create it is only understood by the creator. In this way creator rules on the mind of the viewer. Because he knows all the pros and cons of that object by which he is creating that illusion. In illusion light or shadow plays a very important role because it acts as a third person who is creating something unusual and capturing that activity in different angle. That is how illusion reflects the personality of the creator. Relation between the creator and the viewer. Deep knowledge about that object or material. Awareness regarding pros and cons of that object. Reflection of creator personality. Play with the property of the material. It is also a part of the meditation which people do to achieve concentration.

ILLUSION + PHOTOGRAPHY DESIGN BRIEF
OPTICS AND VISUAL SENSE
INTERESTING
To create or develop concepts of light which will have the keywords of illusion and photography.
REVEALATION
By doing an interaction between two spaces as inspiration, and by playing with material properties and techniques like form , surface / texture, colour , weight and structural unit.
UNUSUAL
MATERIAL - Used Hardwares.
SURPRISE
SHOCKING ABSTARCTION
EXCITEMENT
Initially some sketches where done to understand the form of the insects and application of used hardwares.
MODEL MAKING
MODEL
The idea was to create illusion so, the surface of the insects were painted. It then became hard to figure out the orignal material from a distance. Welding were done to join the components

ARTIFACTS
These fireflies are made up of safety pin and led lights. Led is connected with a wire which will be lit.
ABOUT THE FINAL PROTOTYPE The product has evolved from the "Used Hardware" which is usually ignored in the routine life. Our group consisting of Ravi Ratnam and Swati Gupta started from collecting waste pieces and then selecting a suitable form such as insects. The hardware which didn't have any particular form after attached by its complementary parts by welding and sticking, that produced a new interesting range which was then kept in a mirror and glass (which has reflective tint on the surface) chamber and lighted from the below which lights up and helps in generation of endless replication images.
