M.ARCH THESIS : METAGORAE 1.2
Abstract Concern
Investigation
MetAgorae are regional hubs distributing London’s density, that utilize gamification in Unreal, spatially customized Online, upgraded in real-time, and then physicalized On-Land.
In London’s highly centralized density, the New London Plan projects that 70 % of future commercial densification will be focused on East and Central London. But due to lack of participation and governance in decision-making, the proposed functions don’t align with the community needs. We see the solution to the imbalance in urban densification in decentralizing the projected density model.
Boroughs such as Stratford have the potential to become a major center of attraction, due to the growing population, large area, high capability for commerce and retail development. Therefore, we chose Stratford as our prototype site to test our platform in detail.
The relationship between the physical and the virtual environments rapidly evolved in the past decades, through the use of gamified platforms and most recently the metaverse. MetAgorae proposes an added cyber layer to physical, where users can reach multi-dimensional, multiparty consensus, boost economic activities and enhance productivity. This allows users to socialize, collaborate, and invest in spatial programming and creation in a participatory manner.
12 SELECTED_WORKS | 2013-2023 THESIS PARTS | STUDIO BHOOSHAN
Our platform allows multi-party engagement, from citizens, developers, and authorities to determine a spatial programme unique to each borough. Regional centre growth can be simulated based on identity spaces and location on site, generating surrounding building grids in response. Developers can identify similar functions on-site and integrate their proposals nearby, generating large-scale social spaces. Multiple simulations are used to select the best urban aggregation by calculating revenues and user feedback.
To satisfy various users’ requirements spatial customization is embedded within the system using digital fabrication systems for material and design efficiency, such as 3D printing and fabric formwork, to host flexible interior needs.

INDUSTRIAL RESURGENCE 2.1
Abstract Concern
Investigation
A historic, defunct leather tannery mill situated in Kanpur, India. is re-imagined and transformed to open to the public domain.
A city-wide analysis of Kanpur’s current socio-urban structure highlighted a disproportion in the demographic data versus existing city infrastructure framework. Once the largest Industrial city in Asia, about 72% of inhabitants today are below 30 years, while the land structure barely considers percentage essential for recreation, sports and arts, acquiring only 9% of parcels in the city master-plan as per census data. Thus areas focused on youth engaging activities and leisure should be re-evaluated.
Situated in the backdrop of pre-colonial British mills, the factory site has vast potentials for revitalization.
Raw morphologies are salvaged from centuries old decommissioned site structures, overlayed with carefully curated geometries inspired by religious and historic centres within the city.
The result is an inspiring juxtaposition of carefully curated architectural vocabulary taken from Kanpur city, recreated and reintegrated, and given back its inhabitants. It is one that aspires learning from the rich industrial culture, leading to future advancements. It creates spaces that promote simultaneous community activities, invigorating artistic expression.

A group of young dancers have found their perfect stage to perform upstairs on wide stairs, their choreographed hip hop synchrony engaging the on lookers.

Abstract Concern
Investigation
A large programmatic volume is enclosed within a complex skin of a scultural tectonics network held over a tesselated surface outside the vertical unitized system.
In the heart of a posh district centre in the capital city, there arises a need for building a multi-faceted retail, work and leisure centre, a concept model graduating from a generic functional mall.
This expansive, architecturally advanced structure proposes new configurations for retails, office, gathering, entertainment and leisure spaces for the new age, post digital urban society.
The objective is challenging and superceding the conventional building skin construction techniques to a performance driven, fabricated facade system - this design assembly comprises of sculptural interposition of individual composite geometries, each hovering over another in a close knit fluid surface space. It creates a system that controls the penetration of solar radiation beneath, while creating a dynamic breathable enclosure of facade fabric.
The functional programme is a hybrid mixed-use arrangement with 2 funnel atriums - a scheme with retail mall stores on primary lower floorplans, cinematic theatres halls and food courts in the middle, and rentable office floorplates and exhibition spaces with high feature ceilings under the articulated roof systems on the topmost floors.

Abstract Concern
Investigation
Based on the city’s current data on tourism, large auditorium conference spaces, the project offers a one stop venue for all scales of meetings and performances with minimum
Present venues for large scale performances, meetings and conferences in the city of New Delhi are small dispersed buildings throughout the city, far from airport. Today the city’s major incoming tourism is for business purposes, and there is an immediate requirement for large capacity meeting and conference spaces for the same.
A business district centre is proposed in vicinity to the airport with hotels, offices and retail centre, within which a meet only convention centre can capitalize best.
Being one of its kind, this proposal asserts the need for a single cohesive site to conclude major events involving large groups of people coming together for various meeting purposes for a short duration and dispersing quickly later. The largest group meeting layout can be accomodated in 2 auditoriums with varying capacities, or hold plays, otchestra events, and so on.
All the functions and supporting spaces are artfully composed in teh spatial volume - the 2 auditoriums and the largest exhibition hall are essentially anchor pods, and the circulation system wraps around spiralling from varoius points of access in plan to different ingress points and varied levels. An interplay of atrium space configurations and double, triple height hallways accentuates corporate granduer, all concluding in a contemporary design

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION 2.4
A progressive design studying existing vernacular mountain design morphology, the first pre-school located atop the mounatin delivers both educational and community needs.
Settlements in remote, high altitudes in the Himalayas are scarcely dispersed - narrowly sheltered in leeward mountain sides near open terrace farmlands. While the families earn from farming and forestry uphill, most essential facilities including schools are situated further below, near the foothills. The youngest children cannot travel long distances for their foundation study years, thus denied pre-school years.Due to extreme climate and highest earthquake risk zone, an exquisite vernacular building style (‘Kath-kuni architecture’) prevails in these higher regions. Learning from the traditional techniques, the school proposal sustainably caters to children’s preschool needs following mountain architecture, without destroying the natural surrounding.
Clusters of spatial configurations are precisely oriented along the steep topography to retain the natural physicality of the site, minimizing cut and fill of land. Every level and pathway is connected with steps and ramps, creating meandering routes throughout.
A particular feature is amalgamating indoors with outdoor interface around every room, generating unique transitional spaces, directly responding to enhance cohesive learning environments for children by means of architectural design. A clear visual connection converging at the central courtyard whilst also incorporating the interwoven connections also anchors the pragmatic principles for elementary school design - all focused on the singular idea of influencing curious minds
