To make the plural form of most nouns, add s to the end of the word. cup = cups

snake = snakes . ski = skis (I am taking my new skis pair of skis to the to the mountains next weekend.)

Add es to the end of a noun that ends in s, x, z, ch, sh. box = boxes

waltz = waltzes

match = matches

When a noun ends in a consonant and y, drop the y and add ies. city = cities

Add s to some nouns that end in o . kangaroo = kangaroos

Add es to some words that end in o. tomato = tomatoes

Some words that end in o form the plural by adding either s or es to the end of the word. • Ato tornado = tornados tornado = tornadoes

Some nouns that end in f add s to form the plural.

loaf = loaves

belief = beliefs

thief = thieves

cliff = cliffs

Some nouns have irregular plural forms without s.
