SEASONS GREETINGS DECEMBER 2016 | ISSUE 8 www.swdkeyclub.org

Hello!

Happy holidays, everyone! This is my favorite time of year - volunteering at holiday parties for children, selling popcorn at Christmas parades, and making jolly cards of those in nursing homes. The opportunities for service are endless during this time of year! I hope finals went well for you all. We only three months until District Convention, and I hope to see you all there! Lieutenant Governor Elections are right around the corner and before you know it, so is DCON! Please look into the paperwork and talk to your clubs about these events. I hope you enjoy your holidays, and as usual, please let any of us know if you
 have any questions!

FOR TOTS

This Christmas, the Marine Corps are reaching out to help less fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas. As last year’s Governor’s Project, the Southwest District joined together and raised over 1,000 toys for children all across the region. We want to bring together our communities during this time of year to help contribute to a brighter and better future. Talk with your clubs to collect new, unwrapped toys within the next month. Contact your local Toys for Tots coordinator for collection boxes and specific information that pertains to your area. Have fun spreading the holiday joy!

KIWANIS FAMILY

How did you celebrate Kiwanis Family month? Kiwanis Governor Michael Iafrato has been traveling around the Southwest District to visit divisions and see what progress has been made! On the left is Kiwanis Division 6 and the Rio Grande Division at their Governor’s Visit!

FALL RALLY RECAP NOVEMBER 11-13 CAMP SKY Y

I have attended a lot of different Key Club events and leadership weekends, but nothing like November 11-13 at Camp Sky Y. The welcoming spirit connected Key Clubbers all across the Southwest District. Over 130 individuals gathered to learn more about their leadership styles and how to implement them in the most effective ways possible. We learned how to impact the lives of those around us while growing as individuals. I met both old and new friends, created more memories, and shared lots of laughs. The district board members in attendance had the opportunity to give a recap of our progress, promote District Convention, and teach some of our own cheers! I highly recommend Fall Rally for any high schooler who is looking for a fun learning experience to share with like-minded people.
